Time to test (Jdiction or Mix2Mold) #40

  • I wanted to do a test that would allow us to see which product produced the best colour results. I have noticed when working with Jdiction resincrete that as the piece dries, the colours are subtle. When working with Mix2Mold, the colours come out more intense.
    I mention in the video that although the amount of colour added to each may have differed we are still able to easily see which product gives the more dramatic result. The choice is clear to me. Will this cause me to work with one product more than the other, I am not sure, guess it will depend on how dramatic I want my piece(s) to be.
    Products used:
    Craftsmart outdoor acrylic paint - coral
    Stampin Up, Stampin Ink - crushed curry and old olive: TH-cam: @stampinup
    Mix2Mold - ceramic resin and mould: TH-cam: @BreaReeseArt1
    Jdiction - resincrete: TH-cam: @JDictionResin
    The last thing I would like to mention, when it comes to your CREATIVITY, please know you are creative, even though you may not think you are, or someone may have said you aren’t. In my course Being Intentionally Creative, I break that myth because I know, and you will as you follow me, that we are all creative, in one form or another, you simply need to look for where your creativity lives.

    Thank you for testing ResinCrete out, we appreciate your feedback and we will continue to improve our products, by the way, our ResinCrete sealer will come soon which could protect the colors and be water-resistant.

      I live in Canada, so I expect that the US will see it before we do. Will check it out when it becomes available here.

    Adorable tree- you could take an open wire star earring (and maybe put crystals on it) and then glue it to the top.

    We have gotten some awesome feedback on products that can be used on the mix2mold and I am guessing most of the eco pour resins. Hopefully this helps everyone. I will be checking out some of them myself. Again thank you to all that commented. Just as a fyi, some of comments aren't showing up here for some reason, but I have been received all of them.

      I didn’t know how else to contact you! When you demould your colored brea reese ceramic resin, does it ever come out splotchy?

      @@leslieshapiro2989 - thanks for reaching out. It has been a while since I have used the coloured powder and I couldn't find any pieces that were splotchy. I still have some of every colour. I will work on doing a video so we can see as a group how they come out. Did you add any colouring to it, or just water? As for adding a picture, not sure you can.

      @@nmbbeingintentionallycreativethank you!! Yeah I tried to add a picture to my comment to show you, but it won’t let me. I’m wondering if I got the ratio of water and powder wrong. When I’m using moulds that aren’t brea reese I pour water in my moulds to figure out how much resin to make, then I sort of eyeball the mixture. Maybe my 3:1 powder to water is off. Not sure, but would love some help! Thank you so much!!

    I use boo's cutting board oil. It seems to work well, and it is food safe. It seems water resistant and there is no sticky residue.

    I like the ghost effect on the first one. Try a gloss sealer or resin. If you were not in Canada, I would buy it from you. Postage to North Carolina is yikes.

    In Australia I use what’s called a stone shield. It’s low sheen and used on polished concrete, travertine, terracotta, concrete bench tops etc. I’ve had a couple of pieces outside on a porch - they get rained on and are in the hot afternoon sun. So far so good. But I don’t use mix2mould - mine is an Aussie casting powder.

    If I put a decal on I’ll resin. Mix 2 mold does have a mat/satin finish but I find it leaves brush strokes.

      I will resin as well if I put on a decal. I have found as well that I get brush strokes with the mix2mold sealer. I did buy some other brushes I will try out to see if I can get a smoother finish.

    I love my Mix2Mold but their gloss finish it awful it streaks so bad. I use beeswax if it a piece I keep in my home but I use Krylon triple thick crystal clear glaze for water or outdoors. I use it for the inside of my vases and it seems to work great for me. Hope this helps. I get Krylon on Amazon it was like $6.47 for a 12oz can. I also coat my pieces 3-5 times.

    I'm working with Mix2Mold for the first time. I made my first pieces last night, and I'm going to make more this evening. While speaking with other resin artists, there are mixed feelings about it with regard to durability. Especially with fine/intricate details, have you noticed Mix2Mold pieces not holding intricate details (details break off easily)?
    I hope people answer that sealer question because I do want to make pieces that can go outside.
    I guess it depends on the look one wants. I love the orange of the Mix2Mold but not the green( too bold). Great comparison video.

    • @nmbbeingintentionallycreative
      @nmbbeingintentionallycreative  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For me, if there are intricate pieces, I let them sit for a day before taking out of the mould. Having said that, if too delicate of a mould, I would only do resin. Curious do others find other brands of ceramic resin better?

    • @mahoganyrootsstudio158
      @mahoganyrootsstudio158 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @nmbbeingintentionallycreative That's what I thought was the answer. Let them set longer in the molds.
      Yes, let's resin magic pour mainly. Some said JDiction. I may try those eventually, but I'm new to this, and Mix2Mold is easy to get and inexpensive. Currently, it's 50% off locally.
