Common meanings: Debacle, Tyranny, Disaster, Self-Destruction... well fuck, suppose even my cards want to brutally drag lucien into some common fuckin sense. goddamn.
I wonder who else does tarot I'm learning and making my own deck currently and seeing this happen is really interesting I know it isn't always accurate to tarot readings but damn it is really ground breaking when they fall through

It's interesting thinking how honestly, Molly was the next most interesting person in Jesters life after she met The Traveler. So when she says stuff like he was basically a God she kind of thinks of him that way because in her mind he's just as cool just and interesting and just as wise and helpful and present as the traveler was for her growing up. Just a really interesting tribute to their friendship as characters.
That final scene between Jester and Lucien completely pays off every single tarot scene they've RP'd in the campaign. Honestly, professional writers couldn't come up with something more perfect than that.
And then the campaign finale.... SPOILERS . . . . The way Molly tears into Lucian's chest (the two dragons of the Tyrant card), and having Jester deliver the final blow ("facing you is death."). Even resurrecting "Molly" (Death card meaning a rebirth). Absolutely brilliant.

My favourite thing about the way Jester does the cards is that she has no idea how to set the deck or force readings at all. She’s just pulling cards. So good.
Honestly… this makes it so much better. Imagine if Mat had just been rolling for insight for every card for Lucian. It would’ve been utterly amazing for her to tell him that she was being completely truthful.
Narritively you could say "It's the Traveler doing it", but what makes it even cooler is that Laura is also just doing it randomly. Those were some wild draws.
!!!!!!!!!!Spoilers for 140!!!!!!!!!! Episode 1 Molly pulls the 'silver dragon' to represent Jester. This has been confirmed to actually be the platinum dragon on The Judge card,,,,,the reverse of which is The Tyrant, the red and silver dragons fighting in a figure eight. Molly said she was a silver dragon with a destiny forged,,,,,then she read Lucien as the Tyrant, her opponent, and she foretold his Death. . . . . And then she fulfilled that prophecy herself.
She also didn't just draw the card of Luciens death; she painted it. The Death/Dawn card was one of her additions. (I'm pretty sure Taliesin said outright at some point his moonweaver deck didn't have a death card, but it wouldn't have made sense for Jes to make a death card if there already was one.)
When she said "Facing you is Death" that was Figuratively as well as literally Physically. Just wow. (thank you for your comment this is completely blowing my mind like !!!!! amazing)
Loved this, thanks! In the talk episode Matt said Lucien reaches Jester a lot because she is like easy to fool or more innocent, but the reading looked like she was the one messing with him and I loved it.

I have started making the cards. I'm not really artistic but i have had fun designing the cards. I have changed a few cards (like vax and vex for death and dawn because of their deities)
One of my absolute favorite moments in Campaign 2 is when Taliesin was explaining Tarot cards to Laura. Just the excitement in his voice and how giddy he was makes me so happy
I do wonder though... Vess DeRogna said she sabotaged the ritual Lucien used to try and ascend, leaving the fragment that became Mollymauk behind, the ritual in his book... If the Nein can figure out how to re-enact the flawed ritual, could they shatter the soul in the same way, and set Molly free?
Loved this. The fight with beau always makes me laugh, but i totally started tearing up when she described Caleb's card and just the fact he made cards for all of them. I'd be really interested to hear about all the characters cards. The end with Lucian gave me chills.
3:53 - how crazy would it be to think this foreshadowed how she expected to become some high priestess/prophetess of her god the traveler and leading masses of worshippers only to end up being one of few faithful followers to not a got but an archfey who got pantsed
These damn cards are just one of many ways that the story of The Mighty Nein felt actually magical; they couldn't have *written* better rolls for these cards. It really did feel sometimes like the dice wanted the story to go their way. Same with the times people got mind controlled and rolled 1s against their friends, or when people rolled nat 20s on important plot points, not to mention that damn divine intervention roll at the end! It's so exciting every time it happens, you appreciate it way more than scripted stories.
Literally all Laura’s tarot card readings are perfect… that’s so amazing! It seems like they cards were created by Jester and Taliesin (don’t quote me on that) and I guess they assigned a D20 number system to the cards and then a further D6 number system to interpretation or maybe sides? Anyways it’s so amazing, truly, how it all fits and how Laura is an amazing story teller through it. I’m so impressed
I would've been cool if when they rolled for which cards they got, they were actually ability checks, so their modifiers/bonuses were added, affecting which cards are drawn. Like the past card is a history check, the present card is a perception check, and the future card is an insight check. As a metaphor for how one ultimately has (at least some) control over their own fate throughout their life.
Can you update this after the last episode, but do it Marisha hot-seat montage style with each tarot reading connecting to the real events! If I'm not mistaken, every "prophecy" has come true so far, and I find that narrative coincidence fascinating!

Right from the start I waited for the end I did'nt remember every single bit of the cards, but it was so nice seeing how we've got to the end and how Jester's way of looking and understanding them changed To see the final prediction when you know the end really makes me feel that the dies are also a part of the story and their weight is importent I created a character 2 days ago and I had vaguely her background story but I wanted the flash it out and I rolled about her familly and the story just... changed, and become better. The dies are really important sometimes, and we need to listen to them more
i really wish they would make merch of molly's custom tarot cards complete with a whole guide on their meaning cause i would love to own them even if i'm not at all a tarot card reader. i would absolutely pester my mom to buy me it (but international shipping might be a problem.... sobs)
Anyone think the red dragon on the Tyrant card could be Thordak? I know red dragons in general are often tyrannical so it may be a reach, especially since Wildemount generally wasn't very involved with most of the Chroma Conclave stuff and Molly was only conscious well after that, but could be a fun nod towards campaign one. May even have been one of the first cards Taliesin planned when Molly was originally his backup if Percy died, in which case Thordak would be more relevant. Doesn't change much as far as the stuff with Lucien goes, but it's a fun thought.
If he had access to the list she made to approve it, i bet he made a copy. And then for sure just fudged dice rolls to let it be perfect for the story.

I know red dragons in general are often tyrannical so it may be a reach, especially since Wildemount generally wasn't very involved with most of the Chroma Conclave stuff and Molly was only conscious well after that, but could be a fun nod towards campaign one. May even have been one of the first cards Taliesin planned when Molly was originally his backup if Percy died, in which case Thordak would be more relevant.
Doesn't change much as far as the stuff with Lucien goes, but it's a fun thought.
It was probably intended for that, as it is the first in the list he made, most likely to tie his character into the group.
