    The carbon is an amazing machine! It's super thin, barely 1Kg, fantastic speakers (no lie! Like super nice! 2 woofers + 2 front firing work extremely well), the screen is GORGEOUS! 90hz display folks! It's a beautiful machine, and the keys are so nice to type on. Also, *BOTH* ports on the left are 2 x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (DisplayPort™ 1.4 + PD 3.0). I had this laptop and sent it back and REGRET IT DEARLY! Mine had the MX450 card in it. Was a wonderful experience. I got distracted by the 3050 in the Vivobook Pro 14X OLED, but I am probably gonna send it back and re-order the Slim 7 Carbon back. It's extremely good! Even Josh noticed how great it is and is thinking of reviewing it. I honestly think Lenovo outdid themselves on this thing. IMHO, the main thing the 9i has over this thing is it's a 2-in-1 and the 1080P camera for those who need it. Once you hold the Carbon, you'll understand where I am coming from on how great it is. Oh yeah, it's pretty quiet too.

    I like how crisp the 1080p webcam is as well as the internal mic quality. I prefer the Yoga 9i Gen 7 as it has the latest Intel 12th Gen processor. Also, the Yoga 9i Gen 7 has a bigger battery although honestly, you can’t go wrong with either one in my opinion. Love your video Andrew!! 👍😁

      Bigger battery but less efficient CPU. I just checked a few reviews, and the battery is at best "on par".

    Great comparison review. I wish they'd make a 2-in-1 version of the Sim 7 Carbon, but updated with AMD 6000. And if I can be really greedy for a moment, how about an option for a more powerful dGPU like nvidia 3050.

    Andrew, your Lenovo reviews are the best on youtube. I purchased a Yoga 9i and thank you for such honest open opinions which is a blessing when you're looking to make a purchase. Keep up to the brilliant work Neil from Melbourne Australia.

    Yoga 9i seems better overall, but the question is that is it worth extra $700? I don't think it is.

      Youre not comparing like for like. The 9i here has a 4k OLED screen. Marc showed a like for like with a 2.8k screen, and the prices are almost the same.

    again a good review, thank you. I have decided now to get me a Yoga 9i. Was actually fond of HP Spextre 360 but the new hardware and design convinced me to go for Lenovo. According to Lenovo Germany the delivery time will be about 6 weeks. Will go for 1280P / 2,8 k /16GB/ storm grey. Just in contact with sales for some discount

    Excellent comparison review. These laptops are imaginary until one can actually purchase one. Both displays looked almost alike in your review video but when one can actually see them in real time the differences can more easily be seen. Still both displays are excellent. Excellent review.

    I'm excited to see the 2.8k screen on the Flex 5 with the 1255U CPU. It seems like a mix between these two laptops, but in the Flex 5 chassis and a smaller battery.

    Always enjoy your reviews, but with these machines, the keyboard layout for Pg Up/Pg Dn and Up/Dn arrows is something I cannot get used to (need to press an extra key, plus smaller key size). I prefer the Thinkpad keyboard layout, so X1 Yoga for me.

    I prefer the 9i for all the reasons mentioned, however, choosing that over the HP X360 16 inch model has a better webcam & mic I think plus more upgradable components. Which one would you suggest Andrew? Also another great video. 👍

    I just saw a video from Lenovo saying there will be a Yoga 7i Gen7 14" with 2.8K OLED. If that's true, I'm waiting for that! I just hope it's not as glossy as the 9i Gen7

    Between these two, the yoga i9 gets my vote. The main reason is the better port selection and to a lesser degree the faster SSD. I do a lot of work from coffee shops and library locations -which have super WiFi speeds-so I use headphones more than speakers. I work for myself and by myself so no need for a super web cam but nice to have for sure. Pen isn’t a big factor as I have a 4-year off Microsoft Book with pen but use the pen very very little. I prefer my iPad. A bit disappointed Lenovo has given up on upgradable DRAM for this class. They should think about a 32GB option. Is there some hardware limitation or thermal issue that prevents it? Hope to see both in stores as I would rather try them before buying. Let’s hope for more 12th gen product to compare!

    Excellent reviews Andrew, watching your videos regularly regarding the Yoga 9i. I am really in a dilemma of what to choose between Yoga 9i and Spectre x360 16. I am from India and need a laptop for my Master's where I use a lot of softwares for simulating things and for coding. Spectre gets a 16 inch old 11th gen with a slightly weak hinge. On the other hand yoga 9i has a solid body with latest processor with 14 inch. Can you please help me!! Love from India❤️🇮🇳

    I'll choose the slim 7 as it has no bottom air intake vents - wondering why that's not mentioned anywhere. Fantastic to use on the bed without any danger of vents blockage. Also it comes with the nvidea mx450 which turns it into a low power gaming thin ultra book - something the 9 cant do.

    Tnx for the great video!!! How does the 60hz 9i compare to the 90hz of the carbon in scrolling tests ? Is it notably faster ? Still strange that the 2.8k model does officialy not come with a 90hz OLED panel :(

      The 2.8k model support 90hz :) I can comfirm it... Pitty the cooling system cannot handle the power of the i7-1280p cpu... I´d take 90hz over 60hz any day! it is much more smoother experience!

    Hello Andrew! As always thanks for this wonderful review.
    Can you please help to decide on the following:
    What is your recommendation for a 12 gen i7 , 16 ram DDR5, 4 k min 14 inch ( must be at least 14 inch) non reflective color accurate display, 1 TB min ssd gen 4 , having at least one USB A port, good cooling , FHD webcam with IR (windows Hello) , fingerprint reader,laptop available for purchase now in April 2022? Use case 12 -14 hrs IT work including 5/6 hours of typing, video/ photo editing, light gaming (optional 15-20%).
    Lenovo X1 Carbon doesn’t have IR Anand 4K available. Those are highly expected. Thanks in advance !

    Thanks for the terrific comparison review, Andrew.
    A couple questions arising from your review:
    1. In theory, a 4k display should be superior to a 3k display. Did you observe any discernible difference?
    2. The prices you mention - are those full MSRP? (I ask because Lenovo typically sells their laptops at sale prices of at least 30 pet cent off.)
    Thank you.

    @verygoodbrother 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The battery test for the 9i is poor. To have an extra 14 Wh battery and have only 1 h of extra battery life is a poor showing. Lenovo should upte the Slim Carbon with a 75 Wh battery, include a fingerprint sensor and I'd be happy with the older gen AMD cpu.

  • @sanjayjacobmathews5858
    @sanjayjacobmathews5858 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Tbh for the price i don't think the yoga 9i is worth it as you would be better off with a macbook pro 14. The sound quality is way louder and crisper than the 9i and 120hz with brighter display as well!!! The only issue is I prefer windows over MacOs!!!😅

    • @omegamalkior1874
      @omegamalkior1874 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah you're not buying an alternative to a MacBook Pro 14 because there are better laptops to it, you're buying an alternative since you need x64 Windows/touchscreen/2 in 1 capabilities

    • @crazyforiegner2
      @crazyforiegner2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@omegamalkior1874 Well I understand needing windows, however I think a combination of a MacBook and iPad is ideal since they will both be better than the yoga 9i at their individual jobs and will probably be cheaper to own (due to the high depreciation of windows devices). This is coming from someone who owned a previous gen yoga 9i and switched to a MacBook Pro 14. The current yoga 9i audio is worse, it has an asymmetrical keyboard layout that I will never get used to and the battery life, heat and fan noise during normal use is much worse than the MacBook.

      @@crazyforiegner2 while I get your workflow that just isn't for me. I have both the 9i and an iPad Pro 10.5 inch and the Mac is just too incompatible for what it is for me when I absolutely need x64 for everything I do. When sitting next to each other, the 9i is taller. Though both are 16:10 Aspect Ratio, does the 9i have more vertical viewing space because it's taller?

    • @nightfisher1886
      @nightfisher1886 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. The 9i has a chin at the bottom (likely to match the base/keyboard body) before the actual bezel starts while the Carbon's bezel is a little recessed below the keyboard body due to the hinge design. You can see this at the 3:39 mark (hit pause). The Slim-7 also has thinner bezels on the left, right, and top. The screen to body ratio is also higher (84.5) on the slim 7 Carbon in comparison to the Yoga 9i (78.1). Take a look at the windows screens at the 5:37 (Carbon) and 5:43 (9i) marks (again, hit pause). You'll notice the top bezel is larger on the 9i. Believe me, sitting in front of the Carbon with those super slim bezels is sweet. Not quite XPS 13 level due to the bottom bezel, but pretty close.

    • @stone34
      @stone34 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nightfisher1886 - thanks so same vertical space will be the exact same on both.
      I actually just had an IdeaPad Slim 7 and returned it. It was an awesome laptop and I only returned because my 90 day Costco return policy was up and before I buy a new laptop I want to see the Yoga 9i and the Yoga 7i.
      That being said the lesser model of the IdeaPad 5, though only a Ryzen 5 compared to the Slim 7 ... 7i... the keyboard on the IdeaPad 5 is better. Its way smoother and a softer feel. Not sure why or if the travel is better on the IdeaPad 5? I'm a writer so one of the most important features to me is a great keyboard. So I'm literally considering going down in power from a Intel 7 to a Ryzen 5 for the keyboard. But I'll still wait to see both the Yoga 9i and 7i and compare them to the Slim 7 and IdeaPad 5 before I buy my new laptop.
      I really liked the HP Envy 15.6 with NO Number pad but it was only a 16:9 Aspect Ratio and as a writer I want more vertical page space. Any idea if or when HP is coming out with a new Envy with a 16:10 Aspect Ratio?
      The HP Specter 16 inch has 16:10 Aspect Ratio but the laptop is just TOO BIG.
      Thanks
