@@Duke_of_Lorraine you are thinking from the perspective of a defender on a map. Its central location is great for distributing troops to the front and it also great because it allows you to see the enemies from a long distance away. the second reason is why japan moved their capital from kyoto (which is surrounded by mountains) to tokyo (which is flat land.)
@@zachariahtuttle3543 that is an advantage of having flat terrain, not the central position itself. And while plains allow greater mobility, it also makes the terrain harder to defend as your enemies enjoy the flat terrain too.
@@Duke_of_Lorraine your not wrong but my point still stands it a good position logistically, regardless of whether it is hard to defend. Plus the enemy would have to have a lot of soldiers to make it hard to defend because of its central position.
This is my favorite video thus far! Not to many factions, but still plenty; the AI was able to focus on taking and holding it's territory from rival Jarls without having to deal with new spontaneous rebels that hinder them or worse wipe away everything and eliminate them from play. And numerous times the AI Jarls would effectively have peace with one or more of their neighbors for decades as they focused their attention elsewhere or on a mutual enemy. Its just the right amount of chaos, strategy (if you can credit the AI with that), and dynamism that I really love.
If Whiterun had a nomadic culture of Horse riding warriors they could fend off encroaching raids from just about anywhere, the only people they'd struggle against is the Reachmen who know the mountainous landscape better than anyone and could easily take control of Falkreath and potentially push into the southwestern edges of the Rift at the base of 7000 steps.
Can we get the second great war (whole tamriel, not just skyrim) scenario ? I mean, after the civil war of skyrim of course, with argonia and morrowind probably not involved since they're busy clash each other,so it's the aldmeri dominion / thalmor with the allies (valenwood and the divided elsewyr states) VS the empire and it's allies (High rock, hammerfell, and maybe the remaining nords or skyrim as whole ?)
You should totally do Morrowind between the different Great Houses (Hlaalu, Redoran, Telvanni, Indoril and Dres) maybe throw in the Ashlanders or the Sixth House Cult in there or something as well.
This timelapse was made for fun and based on a map simulation game to explore “what if” scenarios. Let me know which hold you think would win in a real scenario!
Witherun holding this long is a testament to the imcompetance of the others Jarls
Whiterun would actually fair better considering its central location, it's part of why both sides in the Civil War want control of it so badly.
@@renaigh a central location means a high risk of facing several fronts at once. Not as secure as having some flanks protected

Skald the Elder is probably swaggering about going "I told you so!"
The AI is always so stupid in these. If the Reach had just finished off Haafingar they would have won so easily but they kept making peace with them

That Haafingar offensive in the end was nuts. They just took The Reach so quickly
That's what happens when you finally breach Markarth.

Amazing channel man! Love your vids
You can feel the chaos just by looking at the map, The empire was a mercy compared to this situation.
Honestly just a tad bit surprised by the winner

Hjaalmarch was a true survivor!
Hello, please do the Akaviri Invasion of Tamriel or the Great War
6:52 Do you get to the Cloud District very often?
Whiterun held strong
Is this a win with the Imperial Jarl or the Old Fool
The most boring region won ffs
I hate these time-lapse videos, why does YT keep recommending them?
