- British lawmakers were sworn in on Tuesday (July 9) as parliament convened for the first time since British Prime Minister Keir Starmer won a large majority in last week's election. As per custom, the longest-serving lawmaker, Sir Edward Leigh, was sworn in as the so-called 'Father of the House,' followed by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, members of his newly constituted cabinet, and the shadow cabinet. Keir Starmer led Britain's Labour Party to a landslide victory in the 2024 parliamentary election, taking over from the Conservatives after 14 years in opposition and named his new cabinet last week after the July 4 poll. Opposition leader Rishi Sunak set out his shadow cabinet on Monday (July 8), with some senior ministers such as MPs Jeremy Hunt and James Cleverly reprising the roles they held in government prior to the election, while former Foreign Secretary David Cameron resigned. “To his majesty King Charles and his successors” British “democracy”😂😂😂
It's not called United Democracy, its called United KINGDOM hence swearing allegiance to the King is right, proper and appropriate.
@@truetory6231so you aren't a Democracy that you boast ?
@@ramsanatan56 the UK is a PARLIAMENTARY Democracy and the King is head of the parliament. Hence there is no inconsistency in the oath of allegiance
@@truetory6231 how could you call yourself free / democracy when you are still licking the King ? It's absurd
@@ramsanatan56 you only see it as absurd because you're not a Commonwealth Citizen so you wouldn't understand our point of view. Freedom for us isn't dependent on having a president but rather but having systems and structures in place to guarantee rights and liberties to all. The monarchy is no threat to our freedom because he is a symbol of the continuity of the state and unity of the realms. The King actually has no power that parliament and the people doesn't grant to him, he is not an autocrat and never has been.
Quite frankly I find it condescending that those with foreign ideas like republicanism would wish to impose those ideas on us and then tell us that we are only democratic when we accept such impositions. That is literally the opposite of how democracy works
My prayers for Uk 🇬🇧 God Bless Uk 🇬🇧 ❤❤❤🎊🎊🎊🎉🎉🎉💐💐💐💐🙏
