    I'm a professional concert rigger and we pull ropes quite a bit, sometimes 100ft unassisted. There are steel cables and chains at the end of the rope so it gets heavier and heavier the more you pull. This simple machine will help me stay in shape during the off season. Tha k you for posting this. The machines cost 5 grand so I love this option.

    This is great design! could you post a list of the parts you used to make it please.

    How did you make a endless rope? How did you connect the ends to get seamless rope? Thanks for the answer and congratulation on the invention :)

    This is amazing! I don't know why I thought the insides of a machine like this would need to be complicated, but this is such an elegant and efficient design. Using the bend of the rope through the pullys, and a counter weight on the free floating top pully is genius! There is virtually nothing that can go wrong with this design, and anything that did, would be immediately repairable. With a small arduino board, I'm sure you could make some kind of screen for this to keep track of the speed/duration of a workout. Amazing!

      Thanks! It was pretty simple to make - no blue prints or complicated design,cheap and built it in a few hours. I made it for my son who's a competitive swimmer.he used it regularly for a couple years. i could've connected a bike computer to measure speed and distance quite easily...just a little tweaking.

      Ernie A how was that rope fused together? Can u provide some frame building details? This is a much needed exercise. Thank You Very Much!

    OMG haha!! This is great! I was reminiscing about my old gym days BC (before covid) and this was one great machine I was introduced to! I was told it was an upper body conditioning machine. Whew!! The workout of this simple looking contraption is insane and fun! We would do timed runs and see who could pull the farthest distance. Nice work and thanks for posting!!

    Tried one of these the other day and really liked the idea, wanted to figure out how to make one myself to, this looks pretty good, I am also interested on the details about spicing the rope together.

    • @erniea928
      @erniea928  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Splicing the rope - I simply unraveled then braided the two ends together and to keep the loose braids together I used some butchers twine i happen to have and used a heavy duty needle to stitch it. Then I wrapped it up with some hockey tape. The strength of the splice was a concern but after a couple years of hard pulling for miles n miles it was never an issue.

    Hi, I know this is an older video but right now you're the gold standard for diy rope pull machines might I ask how many feet roughly is your endless rope loop? How much rope did you use to make that? Thanks!

    • @erniea928
      @erniea928  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the wheels are rubber. I bought them from home depot for about twenty bucks. The weights were just regular plates you could buy from any sport/fitness store

      JUNIORROCK Hi thanks for your positive reply.Sorry but I don't have a blue print. I wanted to buy an endless rope machine but the cost I thought was ridiculous for such a simple machine. I figure all needed was to run a rope between a couple rollers that pinched the rope to control the amount of resistance...I used a couple dolly rims. I bought the dolly wheels form Home Depot for about $20 each and just removed the tires. I used 2x4's to make the frame. The toughest part was making the slide the held the weight that controlled the resistance. I just tweaked it as I went. it took an afternoon to build and saved me thousand$$. I've been using it for over a year now and has held together.

      +Ernie A how did you join the route as an endless loop or where can I but an endless loop of rope ?

    • @erniea928
      @erniea928  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jrufus11 I couldn't find any place that sold an endless rope loop. So I had to do it myself. I just spliced the rope together and sewed it together with a strong line. I actually used some butcher twine I had handy.

      Great job! As a former carpenter reproducing your machine shouldn't be too bad. However, I would be interested in seeing more detail on how you spliced the rope into the endless loop. :)

    Would be cool to add something to add further resistance.

    • @erniea928
      @erniea928  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Craig W I can add resistance simply by adding weight. It's worked quite and it sill works fine after thousands of pulls for almost two years....I think I could patent and sell this lol.

      The rope is under resistance (you can see the weighted plate on top of the machine) so it's a great upper body workout. I came here looking for a way to build it because I used one like this at my old gym and it was my favorite workout. My back/chest/arms looked felt and looked great almost entirely from this workout. You can also sit on a bench and pull straight down like you're lifting a sail to a sailboat and activate other muscles. It's a very effective workout surprisingly.
