Hey Guys!.. Please react to "Adiye" song from kadal movie. It's a masterpiece. AR Rahman sir introduced another genre of world music to kollywood industry. It's a Gospel Blues setting. A fantastic number that transcends the song than usual. Rahman sir keeps the musical style undiluted from Indian influences, thereby he keeps the mood very genuine. He also introduced a new singer Sid Sriram who has an addictive voice as u guys already reacted to him. I'm sure this song will blow your mind. Hope u guys react❣.
Name of the drummer is Lindsay D'Mello. You can always find names of the people involved in the coke studio's songs in their description of the video. Glad you liked the song.
She's the elder sister of Neha Kakkar. She's classically trained, used to sing in local religious gatherings from a young age, and was a huge inspiration for her siblings, but unfortunately, she couldn't achieve popularity in Bollywood at the level her younger sister enjoys. If you notice, her sister, Neha utilises Sonu's singing style to a high extent, even their voice textures seem similar, but it's just that you can't compete with Indian Classical no matter how good and far you've come without them. Vishal Dadlani, as you might remember, is also a judge on Indian Idol and he's known more for his compositions in Bollywood rather than singing, even though he's good at that. In this song here (others might explain better), Vishal is singing here in the Indian language Hindi for and about one of the Supreme trio deity, Lord Shiva. He's the God of Destruction and when he plays Madari (his two sided drum), the Universe is about to get destroyed to give space for new creation. Sonu here is singing in another Indian Language, Punjabi, about a story which involves a star crossed lovers. This composition is a blend in two genres of Indian classical both involving worship of Almighty: Orthodox Indian Style (Vishal's part) and Sufism (Sonu's part)
Just want to mention that madari is not the two sided drum, the two sided drum is called Damru and madari is the person who plays the damru to make a monkey dance, the monkey is called jamboora. So the lyrics say to Lord Shiva, "you are my madari, and I'm the jamboora".
If anyone wondering what "Madari" is, "Madari" means "Master". the song is dedicated to Lord Shiva God of the Gods.. 🔱 have you seen any street performence with a monkey 🐒 basically in Asian countries like India, China, Thiland etc.. the man who controls the monkey, we Indians call him "Madari"
The best part about Indian spiritual music and lyrics is that most of the time you can connect it with any religion. I have been listening this as a spiritual song for years as a Muslim. But now when you point it out, I see the connection between Damru and Shiva. Like many Qawwalis use Saawre, but Saawre is used for Krishna. It's like it has no bounds, one can take what one feels from it without limits of religion.
You guys missed the lyrics that’s one of the things that make your reactions unique. The lyrics of this one are opposite to the way it feels, you guys wouldn’t have guessed it in millions years that it’s a devotional song..
Well this song is composed to make u dance to the will of god no matter what, even if you don't understand the lyrics. Thats why he's madari and we're dancing to his tunes even of you dont see god's foresight or understand his plans. Thats why the song is designed as rock not soothing.
It is NOT devotional..you have no idea of the meaning of the word. Clearly you don't understand neither lyrics of the song nor the 'God' metaphor. Keep praying & citing more Rituals. You will get there...in 13.9 Billion Light Years 👋🏼🤣🫵🏼
Bhanvari Devi and Hard Kaur's song "Kattey" is another gem when it comes to fusion in Coke Studio! Must watch.. 2 completely different voices in a rock environment. ❤️
This is one of those songs that you need subtitles for. The song is a Sufi-adjacent devotional composition, offering up the singer as a servant to God and saying that he or she will make a pilgrimage to a shrine of love rather than Mecca or another holy place to show God the depth of their devotion. Only in India, BTW, will you see a Christian composer (Clinton) write a song with Muslim/Sufi influences and have it performed by two Hindu singers (Vishal and Sonu).
Do check out Bhanvari Devi singing "Chad Chad Jana". She is a Rajasthani folk singer. It will surely be an addition to your varied musical library. Thanks!
An interesting tidbit: Akon once did a song called "Chammak Challo" which was composed by Vishal & Shekhar, you guys should check it out, it was interesting to see Akon sing in fluent Hindi which he learned in 2 day only, though it doesn't have a live version but a BTS is available which is just as interesting if not more.

Speaking of Bengali and Rock, please do check out "Moner Manush" from Coke Studio India. It's a fusion of Bengali folk and rock, the folk part is sung in Bengali and the rest is in Hindi.
I remember when Coke Studio visited our college campus back in early 2013, Vishal, Sonu & Clinton (along with Papon performing hit songs and latest from movie Barfi) were there to promote this song. I hadn't listen to this song prior to that and it was release about 6 months ago then. I really feel lucky to get to listen this music for the first time and that too in live environment. It was an awesome experience. We all were just mesmerized and freaked with this song - everyone was jumping, singing along "Madari Madari...." Since then, this song has stuck with me - And it's a must song for long drives or journeys for me. While on other hand - Papon's "Jiyein kyun" was the crowd favorite that night..
Why don't you try to listen some semi classical & Pure Indian Classical performance. You even haven't heard more Bollywood excellent Star singers like Richa Sharma ji, Papon, Pratibha Singh Baghel, Malini Awasthi Ji, Sid SriRam, Vishal Mishra, Mahesh Kale, Rahul Deshpande..

He has played with bands such as Shaair+Func, The Petri Dish Project, Vivek Rajagopalan Quartet and Shri as well as Bollywood legends like Lucky Ali, Shaan, and Vishal-Shekhar. He's played at the Midem Festival in Cannes, the Suds Festival in Arles, the Ladakh Confluence, Sulafest and the more recent NH7weekender. He travels and performs with KK all over the world and maintains his own independent band called DCF.
