Hay this is surely a great song and awesome performance.... But I don't think Indian Ocean are an underrated band. Thay are absolute stars and a very big name in Indian Rock band scene.
Awesome. Just take this bit more info about the band members. Raghu Ram - The bassist singer - he’s a masters in Chemical Toxicology from MIT Amit Kilam - Drummer Singer is an IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) grad. D Nikhil Rao - Guitarist - He’s a mechanical engineer. He even hand crafted a guitar while in first year of engineering, just out of curiosity for the science and mathematics behind the guitar sounds.
A little correction - Raghu Ram has Masters from IIT And Phd from Cornell ... But all of them are incredible ... acedemics as well as accomplished musicians ...
Indian Ocean, Parikrama and Agnee were the 3 bands back in early 2000s who brought this new Indian rock fusion band culture. The classic rock culture was booming in the big cities since early 70s however, bands like these started this new flavour in Hindi/Urdu/English.. The sense of pride of writing songs on local subjects and freshness of this approach gave boost to the budding musicians country wide. The young Indian musicians found this new courage to step further from the defined boundaries. This was no less than a revolution in the music industry of India which subsequently made it commercially viable as well for such artists. Meanwhile, in Pakistan bands like Junoon became famous with their outstanding approach to create fusion of Sufi music and Rock with absolute mastery. They had been one of the best Bands in fusion that subcontinent has ever seen. *Apologies in advance if I have missed other big names from that era. Spreading love. Cheers!! ❤️❤️

Few Recommendations 1. Srivalli by Sid Sriram is an amazing song from a movie called Pushpa it is sung by Sid himself in 3 more languages (Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada ) and by another very prominent Hindi singer Javed Ali sung in Hindi and you can see the difference of influence of Tamil and Dravidian Languages on the song and Sanskrit and Perisian influences on the Hindi Version. It's an awesome song in all languages personally I don't speak Telugu but I guess it is the best version. 2. Check out The Local Train A Indian band one of their songs 'Aaoge tum Kabhi' was featured in a Movie called Angry Indian Goddesses was featured in TIFF(Toronto International Film Festival) and is the only film to do so yet. The most popular of their songs could be Choo Lu, Aaftab, and Dil Mere. Also, check out Khudi. 3. You can check out the song 'Aarambh' by Piyush Mishra its one of the most amazing songs and one which has lesser Persian and Urdu influence and more traditional Hindi in it. Check that out for like proper Hindi lyricism and not in a common Hindustani style of Music. 4. If you want to check out some retro Indian Music in general check out Kishor Kumar you can say he was Arijit of Hindi Music in the '70s and '80s and most of our childhood was dominated by his songs. He was a true legend of the Hindi Music Industry his famous songs such as 'Mere Mehboob Qayamat Hogi', 'Raat Kali Ek Khwab me Aayi', 'EK Ajnabbi Hassena Se', and more than 30+ songs of his are like on the lips of millions of Indians. You can't have Indian Music without mentioning him. You will find all sorts of genre's that he tried introducing to Indian Music Industry. 5. Lastly just like Prateek Kuhad you can check out many other Indi Artists like- Anuv Jain, When Chai met Toast, Taba Chake, Xubaan.

Indian Ocean is truly cut above the rest. I wish you had checked the original studio version of the song in which the classical vocal part is sung by the great late Asheem Chakraborty. Also they improvise a lot, I mean a lot on the stage, so all the live performance of the same song are very different to each other. This band takes unique sound to completely different levels.
This was so nostalgic - Indian Ocean, Euphoria and Agni used to rule the music scene in 90's, early 2000s.
