      Except his answers were mutually contradictory. God might be a random natural superdimensional something, but it's also the source of morality for humans? What?? How do you jump from "uncaused cause" to "personal intelligence that cares whether you wear clothes and what they're made from"?

    • @Launibu
      @Launibu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought he did great. It ultimately comes down to the fact that it doesn't matter what his answers are, atheists are not going to change their views unless God changes them. It's like any other debate. Most are pointless because people aren't going to change what they believe. God and Christianity are about faith. Everything can't be about facts and "proof"....faith is needed. Non- Christians won't ever get it unless they are saved.

    • @Launibu
      @Launibu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Christians don't care if people put them down or agree, I know for a fact what Christ has done in my life and don't need others to agree. I do feel bad though because, in the end, everyone will be judged no matter if you believe or not. I would never push anyone else to agree with me or put others down for different views. I do love seeing peoples questions and answers though on the topic.

    • @Launibu
      @Launibu 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Scoonie their gods aren't real. I've experienced things others have not (non Christians and some Christians) that you can not have proof or facts to show others. I know it's true and that's all that matters to me. This is why I don't debate, because I don't care for others opinions on my faith nor do I need to prove it. It just hurts me to know how many people will regret not knowing God when they die. Again, I know you don't believe it...that's your right.

      No!
      What's needed is more enlightened people to stand against Christianity and religion in general.
      As for faith, well it's the worst possible way to truth proven by one little fact, billions of people use faith to find non truth and the majority must be wrong.
      Is the 2 billion Muslims faith correct? Especially when they are the fastest growing religion.
      Or the billions of other people in other faith all feeling there truth?
      Or the 2.4 billion Christians who are shrinking and kinda always been a minority group in world population numbers and 100s of denominations all calling each other fake Christians.

      Religion Christianity well all Abrahamic religions and religion in general are man made nonsense, all based on myths and fables with added lies and the less people believing those myths backing inequality the better and denying rights and facts the better.
      What is needed is more education to show cult members the trap their in, show the lies they are told and that helps stop the harm to society.
      It's secular humanists that fight for rights of women and gay and trans different ethnic groups while religion fights against.

    Devin, I feel like God just answered my 13 year old son's question through you. This is just one thing I love so much about God. Every time I've had a question, it's been answered through another soul without me even asking them the question. It is amazing how God works if you give him a chance as I did. My son came to me the other day and asked me is there only one God and how do we know that God is real. I've raised him to believe in God but I also knew in time he'd have his questions and doubts. I tried to answer him the best I could but I don't know everything. I haven't read the Bible front to back. But from what I know, I've explained to him the best I could and it's been bothering me that i couldn't give him a more clear answer. Continuing to read scriptures on a regular basis while always praying to the Holy Spirit before reading, and then when interacting with others on topics regarding God, pray to the Holy Spirit to use you as a vessel in Jesus Holy Name, and God will give you the exact words He wants you to use. He will be eloquent through you. It is always Him, not ourselves.
      But trust God, because convincing the other person is not the goal, reaching them exactly where they are, and giving them the exact words needed to touch their spirit is. And only God knows how to do that, and He needs your fiat to do so through you. That is why constant prayer to the Holy Spirit for guidance throughout one's day is so vital. When you already have that relationship with the third person of the Trinity, it is second nature to hear him within one's being when God wishes to reach others through you.
      God bless you in your walk with Him.

We think we're satisfied with everything and don't need God. But all of which we are most satisfied, as far as the goodness of living, is made so by God. • @decidethought8802
    @decidethought8802 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    ok, let's do some easy counters to Frank Turek's claims:
    1.) justification of morality: Aetheist justification of morality for things (such as 'why not to murder innocent people..') is quite simple. It is justified NOT to murder someone by a moral standard in that a very minute percent of people would believe it's okay for someone to murder them (for any given reason). That is all the justification needed to NOT do something. Justification TO do something has a higher requirement for morality.
    2.) countering his arguments on S.U.R.G.E: S- Second Law of Thermo Dynamics: claim is it must first be wound up for things to be running down- See Big Bang Theory... the universe WAS wound up, to the point of 'detonation'. U- Universe is expanding: the 'Universe' had a beginning (a single point). This is wrong, the *physical* universe *we* live in began at a single point, this single point has been posited as being repeatedly growing, collapsing and re-expanding, thus the 'Universe' must always exist to create the collapsed point that expands into the universe *we* know now. R- Radiation afterglow: actually called the CMBR, yes, it is the 'smoking gun' for the big bang theory... as stated earlier, NO, the big bang does NOT necessitate an entity to 'create'. G- Great Galaxy seeds: ok, he just stated this as 'a reason' but says nothing as to WHY. E- Einsteins Theory of Corelativity: again... see the counter for "U", same argument applies.
    each point in S.U.R.G.E. he claims points to the universe NOT being the "uncaused first cause". This is only the case if you believe the origin of the Big Bang of *our* 'current' universe was created rather than part of a natural cycle of collapse and expansion... i.e. *our universe* is NOT the first 'universe' to exist. he then goes on to say that 'beyond the universe' is spaceless, timeless and immaterial. also WRONG. There is a difference between the 'universe' (all of existence) and the 'physical/observable universe'. The latter is expanding, the former has always been and can be infinitely expanded into. (Timeless = No beginning) is also WRONG. Something that is "timeless" *must have* existed before the presence of gravity and speed (the two things that are noted as being what allows time to move at the pace it does), in the cyclical view of the Big Bang I keep referencing this can ONLY possibly happen at the instance of each individual 'Big Bang', at any other point you have either the intense gravity of the universe collapsing (to become the next big bang) or the gravity of the matter/energy of the remnants of the big bang. This makes the Big Bang itself timeless, and thus the 'uncaused first cause' of existence.
    3.) here the argument presented is poorly made. The actual argument is closer to Pascal's Wager (please google it first then continue), with one key difference. if we assume that God exists, and that we must worship/follow him to enter heaven... why would we believe/worship in an entity that has CLEARLY (in his own holy book(s)) done so many evil, immoral, unforgivable acts upon our species, just to avoid hell, OR to enter what God considers heaven (NOT what WE consider heaven). Now, as to Frank's response... "you have two paths, either you will be with him or you will not be with him..." This is one of the key points in God being Evil and Unforgivable. If you don't follow him, he will not force you to... BUT he *will* force you into Hellish damnation for NOT following him. By FORCING the punishment of hell for NOT believing in him *IS* his way of forcing people to follow him. It is literally "Do what I say, or I will hurt you in unimaginable ways". Frank even declares this as a "confinement". He gives the scenario of asking the women if they ever had a man pursue them (for full example watch the video around the 8 minute mark) on the basis that the man who tries to force you into loving him is immoral, while the one who asks you to freely return his love is moral. Well, if a man told a woman "you may choose to love me or not, but if you choose not to love me you will be confined to a location for all eternity..." would that not be considered an attempt to force through coercion under threat? Oh, and the '...' part? that's the (where you will be punished) part is left unspoken, which makes it even WORSE.

      God doesn't force Heaven or Hell. He gave us free will. If you go to Hell it's your own choosing. If a person is atheist I guess it shouldn't concern them either way. If they don't believe in Heaven then pretty sure they don't believe in He'll. So what's the problem other than it's sad to me when a person can look all around us and see all the beauty God blessed us with and deny him.

    • @decidethought8802
      @decidethought8802 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kathystoneburner4947 the belief that 'God' doesn't force people to go to hell is an example of ignorance. According to Biblical teachings, the Holy Word of 'God', if you do not believe, follow him, AND ask (through Jesus Christ) for forgiveness of your sins, you are not allowed to enter Heaven. As Heaven and Hell are the only two Biblical outcomes for an afterlife, by not allowing those who do not follow (etc.) into Heaven, he *IS* forcing them to go to Hell. This is why the Roman Catholics added the concept of Purgatory so that there would be a 3rd possibility for those who were not evil, but didn't follow (etc.) 'God'. Purgatory has no bearing on most Christian faiths though, and in the rare instance it is mentioned in a non-Catholic sect, it is the waiting area before judgement of whether or not you are worthy of entering Heaven... as in "you're not worthy, go to Hell (the only other possible place to go)". So no, free will is countered by this binary afterlife in which you have no choice simply by not following (etc.) 'God'.

    The thing with me is that I’m not an Atheist. I’m not the type that doesn’t believe in God. I’m the type that isn’t sure whether or not God Exists. I hope God does exists, but whether he/she does isn’t going to be the factor that makes me do good. The fact that it’s the right thing to do is.

      I love the way you put that. Watching a tiny seed grow into a mighty tree is how I know God exists. Also how everything in nature has a purpose. Nature biodegrades, vultures eat carcasses, there are beneficial bugs that eat pests. Plants that die put nutrients back in soil. I love nature. When i have a bad day and all of a sudden i see a beautiful eagle fly, my soul knows its Gods way of letting me know its ok. Everything man has invented was already created by God naturally. The food chain is complex but amazing. The fact that the bible written 2,000 years ago and is still meaningful is amazing. God bless you, you sound like a great person.(i mean no offense to anyone who isnt sure or doesnt believe) God brings me completeness and i want to share the joy. Im not good at telling ppl about him.(im shy) but i really strive to get better at it.

    Great presentation. Thanks for posting it! The question I have considered often about hell/sheol is that 1) It's separation from God. If it's being cast into outer darkness (away from God's light), you instantly know you are moving into a bad situation. So you either a) Commit to the author and provider of all that is "good" or b) Reject God including the concept of God and assume the responsibility for that rejection.
    2)Separation from God in hell is not an alternate reality where you get anything or everything you desire, but the separation you achieve and reap what you sow for that rejection of God. The bible suggests there is a thirst un-satiated in hell. Any thirst, no matter how small would be a torment after a length of time. So, as a conclusion... must God reward those who reject Him? Ludicrous. And if God is the creator, then he has created all good things and a separation from that God (source of all good things) would be an eternal torment in and of itself, so I need not add anything to hell for it to be an exercise worth avoiding. Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand (mt 3:2) Love the Lord your God with all... and the second is "like" it "to love your neighbor as yourself".

      The Bible doesn't tell us how God created the universe, only that HE did. The science behind the 'Bang' theory is as far as I {NOT being a Space scientist} can tell, works & is proven, as far as it can be. As for God, I know you don't believe, but I definitely do. God reveals himself in so many ways to me, I can't believe it's all coincidence. It doesn't mean I need to force you to believe... You seem to be a well educated adult, and have the same choices I have. I'm not put on earth to change anyone. I only know for a fact in my heart of hearts, I was Created by God, and I'm important enough to have been created for a reason. I'm in the last chapter of my life, not the first... I've seen a bunch in last 64yrs. Especially all the archaeological findings that keep providing proof of the Bible stories, {I had faith in before}, as fact. I hope all people have the heart to agree to disagree, however, those of us who do believe, don't want anyone in Hell. It's the reason we are passionate about speaking of God. It's normally done out of love, not hate. Those who push you, probably aren't doing it out of love, but being 'right'... That's NOT God, that's the DARK Satanic & I can't be part of that.
