My mom made me wear a dress and some big coverup jacket that made me look like some grandma. I did not hear back from target after that interview. I blame my being overdressed.
The interview starts as soon as you walk through the building doors, dress to impress! I wear a two piece skirt suit (black) basic makeup, manicured nails (French or nude), minimal and simple jewelry. Also, nude pantyhose ladies! I also agree with kitten heels too. It’s worked for me!
I've returned to this video to let you know that I got the job!!!! This video as well as many other videos of yours really helped me through the 4 step interview process that I went through and an I landed the job offer. Thank you so much for sharing what you know with us. God Bless.
Nice Video clip! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Dinanlinson Face Blossoming Approach (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is an awesome one of a kind guide for revealing the secret to master interviews and get the job minus the headache. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my buddy at last got excellent results with it.
Great tips. First impressions are important. Your interviewer knows little to nothing about you so they look at everything about you from what you wear, your body language and of course, your education and experience.
I think it highly depends on the position. A mechanic might not need to wear a suit to an interview but someone interviewing for an CEO Executive Assistant position might need to wear a little higher heels since she needs to prove excellent standing
TIP……Hosiery/Stocking and I really don’t care if its 95 degrees outside right after the interview you can take them off. I was helping interview people once and the H/R head said to me “I do not hire ladies with bare legs”. She told me they don’t know if stocking are mandatory or not to wear at this company. It’s an old fashioned mind frame, but I do it when I have interviews to go on. Retail not so much. I love the advice you give.
I think the most important thing is to know if the company is more on the traditional side or modern and dress according to their image... It would look ridiculous if you go in a suit while applying for a job as a surfing instructor, the same way as it would be weird to dress to casual for a job in a old school finance firm
I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and I still love them and always get useful tips every time. You’re really an awesome person for doing this. And your certainly great at what you do! Go Linda!
I love your channel and agree with the advice given here. I would add, nude hosiery for the women (I know it's stylish to go without, but you never know, your interviewer may judge you for it!), and I like to wear a vintage brooch in good shape, too, that's just me. I always wear one that belonged to one of my grandmothers for good luck!
I litteraly went shopping late last night for an interview outfit. I spent £30 for a decent set. A blazer (£28 but got at half price), nice semi matching blouse (£16 but got at half price), and some matching toned trousers(£18 but got at half price). And am wearing nice beige leather brogues (?) as my whole outfit is beige and white. I’m going for a job in an army base jr rank mess hall. Hope it goes well on Thursday 🤞 can’t forget my mask
I always tide up my hair because i have curly hair and no matter what i do if i let it loose it gets messy.. And now you recommend to let it loose hahaha
What if I am applying for a job somewhere like dollar tree? Would it be all right to wear fitted jeans with a white shirt/blouse with a blazer on top? Would that be alright to wear? I am a teenager so I have no idea.
A business dress is amazing. I live in the south and traditional suits are too hot. A nice pencil dress in navy or gray is very flattering and appropriate
it depends on the job you're going for. for supermarkets or things such as the mcdonalds, it doesnt matter, but for an office job, I'd wear long sleeves
I wore dress pants and blazer with heels, and my sis said to dress down because i wasnt going for a CEO position. Does it depend on the job Or position? Like a receptionist interview dress would different from department supervisor? i like to dress up regardless but idk...feeling weird from her comment.
Hi Linda, do you have any tips for people who go for an interview for a creative position? I am a graphic designer and I never know what's the best way to dress for an interview. I feel like if I dress as formal as you have described in this video it will look a bit inappropriate. Is it okay to show your style at an interview for a creative position but still dress a bit more formal then normally? For example, a light colour blazer, a white t-shirt, black jeans (not ripped) and clean trainers? Are jeans and trainers okay to wear anyway for a creative position interview?
Show your creativity in your outfit. Basically, it can depend on dress codes, but bright colors and complementing patterns may be used to really show off your creativity. Have fun with your outfits. If you can add some flair while still looking professional, it may even set you above the other applicants. Rooting for you!
Well not all women have hair that they can freely let down. Especially African American women with natural hair that’s poofy in its natural form. I don’t like how we always have to “Europeanize” our hair to meet “professional” standards
im not african american but i agree. being half mexican i have very curly hair that can be big & i feel like i HAVE to straighten my hair to seem professional🙄
I agree not all women can freely let their hair down. I have way too long hair and I cant leave them like that. I have to have a bun. And, moreover it all depends how comfortable we are in that style.
If your hair is short I recommend just getting a head band and doing a puff that looks slick and neat. If your hair is longer I would go for the low point tail.👍🏾
hey do you have any tips to not to feel anxious or nervous in interviews for I suffer from anexity and I don't know what to do. p.s. I can't wear heels cause of my cerebal palsy can I wear Dr Scholl's dress shoes?
Ladies what do you all wear in the summer for an interview? I heard shorts are forbidden. But what if they are black dressy shorts? You know the ones with the waistie
Well you can tell this is pre-covid. Who goes into the office for an interview? All interviews are done via Teams or Zoom so don't really have to worry about the shoes. Also, I think it is important to know the company and the audience. Most tech companies are very relaxed in their dress. Anyways, good tips all the same.
I think it's okay. But, to feel comfortable myself? I prefer to wear something different on the second interview. But, that's my opinion and make me feel more confident and comfortable
What should young guys do about longer length hair. Such as Kurt Cobain style? My son is reluctant to have it cut ..and should he wear white shirtvwith cufflinks or ordinary cuff.
If I’m applying to a more relaxed work environment like a publicity agency or newspaper, is it necessary to wear a suit? Dressing casual as every day, would be fine? I ask because I HATE wearing suits 😀
Never thought I'd be watching one of these videos but I do have an interview coming up and so here I am.
My mom made me wear a dress and some big coverup jacket that made me look like some grandma.
I did not hear back from target after that interview. I blame my being overdressed.
ScrapeGoat lol better job waiting for you!
call back to follow up after a week of not hearing back

What would you wear if u were over weight and couldn’t hack a skirt
@@jasonlangworth2542you don’t NEED to wear a skirt. Dress pants are ok too

Keeping the colours neutral is a great tip. That's professional and safest for a good first impression! Cheers!
Great tips. First impressions are important. Your interviewer knows little to nothing about you so they look at everything about you from what you wear, your body language and of course, your education and experience.
Reputation also matters as well. What's your channel about?
I think it highly depends on the position. A mechanic might not need to wear a suit to an interview but someone interviewing for an CEO Executive Assistant position might need to wear a little higher heels since she needs to prove excellent standing
Yeah. I'm applying for a skate shop. (Active ride shop) what do you think I should wear?
@@sarah.airsofts not necessarily a suit but definitely a nice outfit, maybe a shirt and nice pair of pants.
I’m applying for a receptionist position at an eye doctors office, but I don’t own a suit.
Actually for an executive woman is recommended that her heels are no taller than 8 cm.
TIP……Hosiery/Stocking

That's what I was thinking too
I cant tell if you are joking or serious
I'm a english learner and i love watching your videos cuz you speak so ckear and nice and that help me to try to copy the way you speak.

about to reach half a million subscribers! congratulations dear
Currently anxious about the "hair down" thing cause I've got unruly curls 😅😅
What if I am applying for a job somewhere like dollar tree? Would it be all right to wear fitted jeans with a white shirt/blouse with a blazer on top? Would that be alright to wear? I am a teenager so I have no idea.
I wore a red pencil dress and a white cardigan and white Calvin Klein heels. I got the job :P
Great video. Sorry I'm a bit late in watching it. Very helpful advice. You're awesome x
Anyone have any idea what I should wear to an interview for a local family run bakery?
A business dress is amazing. I live in the south and traditional suits are too hot. A nice pencil dress in navy or gray is very flattering and appropriate
The makeup mentioned is my full face heavy makeup :O
So a colored blouse would be bad for a interview ? Can you explain why?
Hey can you please tell me if I can wear my bangs or should I clip them
Me watching before an interview later today 😩😥 so nervous
I hope it went well :)
What would be the rule on tattoos? I have one on my arm, it’s not anything tasteless but it does cover 75% of my forearm.

Well don’t and don’t worry about it , why complain about your hair?
i have a mock interview practice for school and i am so nervous
What if we don’t have any dress suits or heels, due to a foot injury? I also have an afro: I’m regrowing my hair.
What to do?
If your hair is short I recommend just getting a head band and doing a puff that looks slick and neat. If your hair is longer I would go for the low point tail.👍🏾

It depends on what kind of job you're applying..but definitely chic and classy ..not tight...no jewelry..soft natural makeup.

towers nice to come across people from abroad.
Yayy :) it was my question

Can I wear the same thing in a second interview? Like the same tie (after washing of course)?
I think it's okay. But, to feel comfortable myself? I prefer to wear something different on the second interview. But, that's my opinion and make me feel more confident and comfortable

What should young guys do about longer length hair. Such as Kurt Cobain style? My son is reluctant to have it cut ..and should he wear white shirtvwith cufflinks or ordinary cuff.
I got my bf to do low bun. It gives a sleek look and they don’t have to cut their hair.
