Glad to see u playing god of war actually God of War Ascension is the prequel to this game and even though there are people who dislike it I would definitely recommend playing it Especially for lore what happened before god of war 1 also I found the whole game amazing some of the best boss fights. @@matiasgagoMati, may I suggest playing the Santa Monica games on the Give Me God of War difficulty? It is absolutely BRUTAL at the beginning but so satisfying once you master it
I was 9 in 2005. My mom wouldn't let me play it (no M-rated shit for me lmao) but I was allowed to watch my stepdad play it. I remember him being shook by how ahead of its time it felt to him. He's been gaming since the 80s and he said this was up there with Super Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time in terms of feeling like the future of gaming for him. I've since played through the entire series (except Ragnarok, I finally got a PS5 last year to complement my PC and I'm slowly working through the catalog of first party shit) and there really aren't any misses across the board. GoW 2, GoW 3, and GoW 2018 are especially some of the best games I've ever played. You're in for a ton of fun dude!

Gow is simply one of the best games ps2 had to offer. The first one is pretty good but lacks some boss fights. Gow2 on the other hand had it all ! Not to mention gow3 that is a true masterpiece !
GoW 1 may be lacking bosses, but Pandora's Temple is one of the greatest levels/dungeons/what-have-you in all of video gaming.
This game has some of the hardest puzzles and areas in the series. I love it.
And platorming is the hardest too, by far the best imo, snd its just PURE KRATOS

This game blew my mind when it came out. Combat was insane with all the different enemies and finishers! And I was convinced video game cutscenes couldn't get any better than these. Then GoW 3 blew my mind all over again.

Very happy that you have decided to start the saga from its origins and not watching bad and partial summaries of the story on youTube to go directly to the new games.
The original trilogy has NOT aged AT ALL. They are still very accessible games.
In fact, I think the new games are going to get old faster than the original trilogy. But that's my personal opinion.
I was 23 when this came out & vividly remember it had the best graphics, gameplay & combat I'd ever experienced in a video game at the time. The whole franchise is a masterpiece & Im really looking forward to those nostalgic feelings as I live vicariously through you as you experience them for the first time also. ✌️
I loved the original trilogy so much. Really glad your playing from the start. Just a quick tip there are a ton of hidden sections that can be difficult to find/see check every area of each map.

I suppose we’ll see if Matti is able to enhance my enjoyment of this series. I played the original GoW when it came out to completion, and didn’t like it. I don’t like any of the games up until the modern reboot even though this style of extreme action is right up my alley. I just can’t stand Kratos as a character, at least not until he grows and gains way more depth in the Norse setting. I also hated the liberties they took with Greek mythology back then, but my outlook on that sort of elitism has considerably softened over the years, hahaha.
Nice! I’m not a big fan of God of War (I only played 2018), mostly because I’m kinda done with the cinematic movie games, but hopefully you’ll enjoy them, and I’m gonna watch you play them because I think it’ll be more enjoyable for me than to play them myself :D
Btw I have a couple of game reccomendations: Little Nightmares 1 and 2, two amazing horror games no longer than 1 or 2 episodes each game, maybe for Halloween?! :D Metroid Prime trilogy, perfect timing before Metroid Prime 4 releases which is supposedly not too far away, plus they have some resemblance to Soulsborne games on how you discover lore, in Soulsborne it’s item descriptions, while in Metroid it’s scanning the environment and objects around you to get to know what happened with alien civilizations.

Kratos is THE best written character in all of video games, in my opinion. You're doing yourself a huge favor by playing the original trilogy. Besides being great game in their own right (particularly 2 and 3), you get to see the full scope of Kratos' journey. It makes all the payoff and callbacks in the new duology (particularly 2018) hit SO much harder. Bro you WILL be yelling, jumping out of your chair, covered in goosebumps and crying by the end of the journey. I guarantee it!

I was 13 when this came out. I was OBSESSED. I have posters on my walls of Kratos to this day. GoW 3 was my first ever platinum. It was a teenagers fantasy for it's time. So glad to see you playing this!

Mati, whatever you do, DON'T FORGET THE PSP TITLES
Unlike many other "tie-in" games that are terrible, the PSP titles are excellent and provide a lot of context to Kratos as a character
(Chains of Olympus also has one of the most heartbreaking scenes in it that inform a lot of Kratos' decisions)
They made a port for PS3 but not sure if that's playable on PS5, otherwise you could use PPSSPP (free PSP emulator) as an alternative way to play God of War: Chains of Olympus and God of War: Ghost of Sparta ROMs
Genuinely, if you play this entire journey you'd be missing out on some excellent God of War storytelling if you don't play those two games, especially since they have prominence even in later games such as God of War: Valhalla
20:40 Yeah, definitely! Each of the mainline games have been pretty mind blowing. 3 especially was the first time I really felt like the power of the PS3 was being fully utilized.
Uncharted 2 also looks stunning for the time it was launched. God of War 3 is one of my favorite games

I highly recommend you even at least play through the PSP game The ghost of sparta. Its events take place between the 1st and 2nd game and is a really great game, plus in gow 2 there will be some, not many but some references to ghost of sparta.
Wouldn't waste time with chains of olympus (the first psp game).
Gow: Ascension is a mixed bag, in it they changed the combat for worse locking basic moves behind combo counters which imo was very bad move.
Original trilogy and ghost of sparta are some of my favorite games of all time. Not a huge fan of the 2 newer games myself.

From what I've noticed, I think streaming lag make the QTEs a bit more challenging than the original.
Also, find the move list on the upgrades menu.

There are TONS of chests and things hidden all over the place, make sure to look carefully (including walking toward the camera sometimes.) Also, huge set of balls on you for doing your first real playthrough on Spartan. I played through the initial trilogy multiple times when they were released, amazing games.
