Unfortunately, after the hotel renovations were completed, the space where they hosted afternoon tea lost all its charm and character. It always felt intimate and inviting and set the stage for an experience that you knew was going to be memorable. This however is no longer the case. It looks like a room in every other hotel trying to be modern. You probably wouldn't even know if you were in Vancouver unless you left the building.
Thanks for reaching out! I wished I had a chance to go before the renovations. It is still pretty impressive with the feel of an old library. Would be been nice to seen it prior to that!

Hey Wendel, thanks again for reaching out. Yeah, it was a bit of a splurge at the hotel. Plus it's actually quite a lot of food. I've noticed I spent probably the same amount at IKEA once you factor in the needless shopping ;-)

The treasure chest looks really nice. By the way, did your mom help clean the condo before? I remember a nice lay taught how to use the washing machine when I was in Vancouver for the first time, lol
Hi Tim, I really enjoy your videos! Just a quick question, do all IKEAs in Canada or just in Richmond, BC serve afternoon teas, and is it everyday or only on special occasions? I wish the IKEAs in the U.S. would serve afternoon teas too! I've visited Canada several times and had always enjoyed afternoon teas at various Fairmont hotels in BC, AB, and QC. Anyone else who knows about the IKEA afternoon tea service can answer too. Thanks all!
Hello David, I believe this was a special occasion. I've been noticing that the IKEA in Richmond BC tend to do a lot of special offerings. We've been shopping at Ikea a lot recently and noticed every time we go, there's some sort of event for the food offerings. Gosh, the teas at the Fairmont must be amazing; particularly the one at Lake Louis. Did you get a chance to visit there?
@@TimLeeLetsGo Thank you Tim about the IKEA afternoon tea. Yes, actually our very first afternoon tea experience was @ the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in September 2005 and it got me hooked. We were in the Lakeview Lounge; the view through the large windows was spectacular and the food and tea were so fancy. I also enjoyed the afternoon tea particularly @ The Empress, Banff Springs, Chateau Laurier, and Chateau Frontenac. The IKEA julbord video you posted was also very interesting; I hope my local IKEA will have it this Christmas season. Your Las Vegas buffet videos are also giving me some ideas and strategies, as we live in L.A. and go to or pass through Las Vegas once or twice a year on road trips/long weekends. Last time we were in Canada was September 2016 and I took my parents and brother to Edible Canada on Granville Island. It was a nice experience. Floata in Chinatown is one of the dim sum restaurants we visited in Vancouver, the other being Fisherman's Terrace Seafood Restaurant in Richmond. I didn't realize that BC Ferry had buffet, so I'll try it out next time. Thanks for postings many videos and sharing your trips and experiences; I really enjoy watching them and sharing with my family/relatives.

Both places were very good though I would have been floored if she didn't prefer the hotel given the cost! Actually, I do like the not-so-fancy places as well -- much more comfortable for me. Thanks again and all the best!
Gorgeous, i just went to my city at Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur :)) Manage to video the afternoon tea session too.
😛 stealing mom's waffle... ☺️
I enjoyed this. It was like being there. ☺️
Earl Grey eclair sounds wonderful! But the IKEA selection sounds like a better value and just as nice. The jam waffles were a nice touch and also the onion and cheese tarts.
Thanks Liz, would love to visit these places again... Yeah, Ikea did have some really good values and was surprisingly good 😋. Oh, agreed, the earl gray custard filled eclairs were something else 😋
Tim your alway so excited about the food which makes me think it’s ok to try foods you try but that I haven’t bc I’m a bit picky eater... ** Your mum is lovely. She should be on video more with you.
Were these tea services All you Can Eat??? 🙏.
Passing the comments over to mom; she's getting quite a kick out them🙂
Love high tea had it at Ritz London but there wasnt so many exotic items like you had.
Tara, that sounds like an amazing experience at the Ritz! I can't imagine Ikea would have more exotic items than the Ritz 😉
Hi auntie - you're elegant and beautiful and a good son spent time with mama☺
Hey Jenny, thanks again for your kind comment :-)
The treasure chest looks really nice. By the way, did your mom help clean the condo before? I remember a nice lay taught how to use the washing machine when I was in Vancouver for the first time, lol
LoL, yes Andy :-) I believe that as her. The regular cleaner wasn't able to make it and she stepped in... Great memory!!! :-)
@@davidwang2410 Thank you so much! Actually, I finally have a bit of a weekend off from work and just going to head to LA with some friends. Can't wait to get there and enjoy the city. Been scoping out places to eat there and have been getting a lot of great recommendations. I guess we should also focus on booking the hotel as well ;-)
This looks fun, thank you.
Thank you Victoria 🙂
love to see good relationship with mom
Thank you so much. It was quite a fun day, but it was a bit too much food :-)
Well Tim, nice you took Mom for the tea experience. Did mom catch the two girls checking you out at the Fairmont? 😃
What a beautiful young lady you have accompanying you!
Hi Lee, thanks so much -- passed that on to mum and you made her day :-)
Are you blind?! A nonsensical compliment is no compliment at all.
You did both afternoon tea in one day? Kudos to you and your mom being so spontaneous.
Hey SimpleLife D. Oh gosh no! We had a week to recover from each :-) We were noticeably "rounder" afterwards. :-)
Both places are remarkable architectural landmarks... of modernity and of times of the second millennium 🌻Thank You very much, Tim 🐧
Thank you again Petr! it's a bit of a juxtaposition I suppose :-)
@@TimLeeLetsGo Juxtaposing, indeed 🐧like penguin and the cheetah...⛷
High Tea is supper. It is not the same as Tea.
Thank you! So many people mix up afternoon tea (the elegant event) with high tea (an early workers supper).
I can never watch your videos without munching on some food!
Thank you so much Raman! Greatly appreciate your kind comment 🙂
aww u and ur mom r so cute :)
Thank you so much again, I'll definitely pass this along to Mom and I'm sure you made her day
I had no idea that Ikea served an Afternoon Tea but now that I DO know I'll be checking it out FOR SURE!
Hope they'll open this up again! Quite enjoyable and the price is right 😃
Your mom is so cute. Why did IKEA have afternoon tea? Was it for Mother's Day or some celebration? Great review Tim...you gave a classy and calm review.
Thanks again Susan, yeah, it was for a mother's Day event.. certainly didn't expect Ikea to have something like this, and very unique and good 😋.
Very nice!
Thank you Robert 😋
