Did your team ever trade away a legend they drafted? Any other Sports lists you want us to do? Let us know in the comment section and we will credit you in the video if your idea is picked.
Um...... Red Sox trading Babe Ruth? Is that really not on here? Curse of the bambino? Red Sox didn't win the World Series for 86 years? How the fuck is that not on here
what about the Houston Oilers drafting Steve Largent then immediately trading him to the Seattle Seahawks? He held every wide receiver record until the great Jerry Rice broke them.
Dylan The Shiny Victini why the falcons? They got 3 amazing rookie defensive players and have Julio jones for another couple years plus the he leagues best offense with a second and third year rb
TheClayShow To be fair the Pacers organization, nor did anyone expect he'd be as big as he got in San Antonio and George Hill is an Indiana native. It does pissed me off because every time George Hill did something good it would always be "Still not Kawhi Leonard". Shame because Hill is one of my favorite Pacers and now he's no longer on the team.
I personally don't think it is fair to have teams who traded legends at the end of their careers. I would rather see a revised list of teams who drafted a player who would BECOME a star somewhere else. Colts drafting Elway, bull trading to get Pippin, Falcons and Favre... that kind of story. Having Joe Montana going to KC is a terrible choice. He played only two more seasons and his legend was made where he was drafted. It would be like having Johnny Unitas on the list because he spent 1 year with the Chargers. come on...
Brandon Dixon I know. It was Indy's fault for not trading the pick away before the draft. You wouldn't want to play for THAT Colts franchise. They were historically terrible as a franchise at that point, even packing up in the middle of the night and moving in secret after denying it in the media. They were a garbage organization that nobody in their right mind would want to play for.
Paul Gaither no....they were trying to turn the franchise around by drafting a player that could help turn them around......but no....he was just a bitch
should have added Steve young from buccaneers to niners instead of Montana getting traded late in his career, good video tho thanks for posting. I'll keep watching!!
I don't really thing Montana belongs on this list. Playing most of your career and being traded because of salary cap reasons isn't the same as say the Brett Favre to the Packers trade. Niners made the right move, they couldn't let Young go.
How about when, in 1976, the Houston Oilers traded Steve Largent to the Seattle Seahawks, who only became the NFL's all-time leading receiver when he retired in 1989?
Okay, how about Houston Oilers traded Steve Largent to Seattle, he may have never won a Super Bowl, but he was the first to reach 100 TD receptions and held other records for a while. Just saying
Really? No steve largent? The Oilers traded Largent, who would retire as the all time leader for Receiving touchdowns, yards and most catches and was the FIRST EVER PERSON to catch 100 touchdowns in NFL history, for a 7th round pick to the seahawks.
I knew about Peterson, I know lots of other players from LSU ... active at this time for example Deion Jones, Trai Turner, Bennie Logan, Ricky Jean Francois ect.
Bucks and Dirk Nowitzki Chargers and Drew Brees Steelers and Johnny Unitas Buccaneers and Steve Young Colts and John Elway Rams and Jerome Bettis 76ers and Charles Barkley Blazers and Moses Malone Pacers and Kawhi Leonard
yes tampa drafted him #1 overall, but they didn't trade him. he didn't sign with tampa and went to play baseball. after one season tampa lost the right to jackson, he got drafted the next year by the raiders in the 4th round.
Yes. Lots of players have had great stretches for a season or two. Bo never rushed for 1000 yards. He had 554, 580, 950, and 698. There are hundreds of guys with way better numbers in a league where its now harder to run than it was then. Bo was all hype, a few great games, nothing more. If you want to go on about athleticism, every D1 college in America has freak athletes, and his 40 was hand-timed.
DumbDuude1001 obviously you didn't actually WATCH Bo play, which is why you immediately went to cumulative stats to prove your wrong point. If you were around back in the 80s and saw Bo, you would know he was one of the greatest athletes ever
Russell's the greatest winner in sports history. Won a state championship in high school in CA (lots of competition), won *two* NCAA titles, won an Olympic gold medal in his one and only shot, and won those 11 NBA titles in 13 seasons - with him coaching the team while still being a player for the last two. Nobody wins and wins and wins like Russell.
You could do a video about the best draft year ever in sports history. What year saw the most hall of Fame/Legendary players drafted in the MLB,NHL,NFL, etc. respectively, all in the same year.
Mike Boddicker helped the Red Sox win the East twice in 3 years and they were fairly close to doing it three times in a row. Anderson and Schilling was a steep price, but worth it.
That is correct. But that meant there were less than 100 NBA players. The 12th man on every team had talent....no watered down cupcakes like the Sacramento Kings or Minnesota Timberwolves. Take the best players from those teams and put them on other rosters and that's what you faced every game
Top 10 cities that saw a championship caliber team leave their city and then win a title shortly thereafter (Browns to Baltimore, raiders to LA, Lakers to LA, Dallas Texans to KC as the Chiefs, etc)
Some of these players aren't telling the whole story. Kobe pretty much refused play for the hornets, so they traded him. Same for Kareem, he wanted out so the bucks had to trade him
It wasent even about the Hornets. This trade was made even before the draft. LA was looking for a team to make a trade with. If not the hornets another team would have made the trade.
How was the Montana trade bad? He managed to get the Chiefs to the playoffs but Young went on to win a Super Bowl. Seems to have worked out well for San Fran.
What about David Ortiz who was drafted by the Minnesota Brewers and was traded to Boston where he went on to become arguably the greatest clutch hitter to play baseball
Dallas Cowboys drafted but released Jimmy Smith. Considering the Cowboys struggled at the 2nd WR spot after the departure of Alvin Harper, who knows what would have happened. Jimmy Smith went to 5 straight Pro Bowls and became a 2X All-Pro with the Jaguars. Detroit Lions traded away Bobby Lane to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who in turned released would-be-HOFers Johnny Unitas and Len Dawson.
Montana isnt a great option here. More options like Pippen make sense since he never played for them. Like Steve Young by the Buccaneers after 1 year or Dirk Nowitzki by the Bucks. Montana had a historic career for the team that drafted him, so who cares about the last 2? Still enjoyed the video though!
To be accurate; my (sometimes) beloved Vikings traded a half a team for Walker. One could make the claim that it was the worst trade in the history of American sports!
The Detroit Tigers traded John Smoltz to Atlanta for Doyle Alexander in 1987. Alexander helped the Tigers make the playoffs that year but we know what Smoltz became.
The Bucks should be on here three times. they drafted Dirk Nowitski and traded him 5 minutes later to Dallas for a guy named Tractor Traylor and a bag of pork chops, then drafted Ray Allen, a surefire hall of famer, played him for a few years and traded him away to i think Seattle and he wound up winning it all with Boston.
Steelers, at least 2 times. Len Dawson, and John Unitas I understand that they were before your time. But, Unitas wrote the book on how a quarterback should run an offense. And, he called his own plays.
Its not entirely fair to blame Milwaukee for trading Kareem, since it was Kareem who demanded a trade to Los Angeles. The Bucks didnt have much choice but to trade him for all they could get and avoid having a star player who just did not want to be there.
The Bucks didn't have a choice, Kareem demanded they trade him. The players the Bucks got in return were far from a disappointment. The players they acquired, Brian Winters, Dave Meyers and Junior Bridgman, were part of a very successful Bucks team for years to come
Really doesn't make sense to include Montana. Isn't the premise that they draft a guy and then trade him and he is a legend with the new team? Montana won 4 Super Bowls with the Niners. He played played only 2 seasons in KC.
Montana stayed with the team that drafted him for 13 years. He was only with KC for his last year. Why is he on this list? Who should be on this list- Chicago Cubs give up Greg Maddux to free agency; Chicago Blackhawks trade Dominick Hasek to Buffalo.
Some of these could be do budget strains and they simply couldn't afford that hot-ticket player anymore. It would've been cool to find out WHY they were traded away. In Joe Montana's case, he got injured and Steve Young took over at starting QB, which he got off to a hot start. When Montana was well enough to play again, he understood that the Niners were going to stick with the young Young. The trade was mutual.
Montana shouldn't be on this list. He was at the end of his career.
Tyler Stokes i was thinking the same thing.
Tyler Stokes and he said montana was the best ever aka the G.O.A.T but montana only had 4 now brady has 5
yea elway should have been in his place. drafted by colts and traded before he played a snap in baltimore.
or if they were gonna do that manning would've been a better choice. he played 4 seasons, went to 2 super bowls, and won 1 of them.
my bad forgot peyton was released as a courtesy.

Chargers let go of Drew Brees who returned as quite possibly top 3 greatest pocket passers ever.
Guyver2391 they also let go of Eli. Oh wait thats not a legend.
Guyver2391 The Giants traded away Philip Rivers .
I feel like the chargers trading Drew Breese away should be on this list
didn't trade him. let him walk after shoulder injury.
Shane Stevens Wrong , the Bolts let Brees walk . The Chargers did trade Eli Manning for Philip Rivers and Shaun Merriman.
Shane Stevens how do you spell Brees wrong

I agree
what about the Houston Oilers drafting Steve Largent then immediately trading him to the Seattle Seahawks? He held every wide receiver record until the great Jerry Rice broke them.

Paul Gaither elway demanded to be traded......he refused to play for indy.....biggest reason i have never respected him as a person
Brandon Dixon I know. It was Indy's fault for not trading the pick away before the draft.

How about when, in 1976, the Houston Oilers traded Steve Largent to the Seattle Seahawks, who only became the NFL's all-time leading receiver when he retired in 1989?
Kareem didn't want to play in Milwaukee. It wasn't their choice, learn your facts.
T Jones same with Kobe and the hornets
those teams still traded those players. just because a player demands it doesn't make it not a trade.
Kareem said later that Milwaukee was too cold that's why he asked for a trade.
Understood, but the post make it seem as if it was the team's choice that's all.
what about the trade where the Dodgers traded Pedro Martinez to Expos for Delino DeShields?
Chargers: Drew Brees and Eli Manning
Rams: Jerome Bettis
Buccaneers: Steve Young
eli not legendary... but elway is. agree with every other suggestion.
sorry forgot, brees wasn't traded.

hey oilers/titans fans. Do you remember the time your team traded Steve largent to Seattle for an 8th round pick?
I am guessing that Kobe Bryant will be on this list
What about Babe Ruth.
Tampa bay traded away bo Jackson. Ik he only played 5 years but he was def a superstar
GriffGraff he told them if they drafted him he would refuse to play for them
yes tampa drafted him #1 overall, but they didn't trade him. he didn't sign with tampa and went to play baseball. after one season tampa lost the right to jackson, he got drafted the next year by the raiders in the 4th round.
2700 career rushing yards, yeah nah. he was the Fernando Valenzuela of football.
Yes. Lots of players have had great stretches for a season or two. Bo never rushed for 1000 yards. He had 554, 580, 950, and 698. There are hundreds of guys with way better numbers in a league where its now harder to run than it was then. Bo was all hype, a few great games, nothing more. GGP Yeah. If they put them on the list Elway should has easily have been on the list.

How could you miss John Elway? Never played a game with the Baltimore/Indy Colts, played in five Super Bowls for Denver!
Thank you so much Atlanta for trading away a legend right in his peak
Dallas Cowboys drafted but released Jimmy Smith. Considering the Cowboys struggled at the 2nd WR spot after the departure of Alvin Harper, who knows what would have happened. Jimmy Smith went to 5 straight Pro Bowls and became a 2X All-Pro with the Jaguars.
Detroit Lions traded away Bobby Lane to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who in turned released would-be-HOFers Johnny Unitas and Len Dawson.
Kareem was questionable because the Bucks had him for a while and he won 3MVPs and 1 championship with them. No doubt it was a bad move though

Can you do all the great YOUNG future stars the NY Yankees traded away !! During George Steinbrenner's days. 1972-2006
02:50 the question is: Will Joe Montana have time enough to throw the ball with Bruce Smith behind him...
The Bucks should be on here three times. they drafted Dirk Nowitski and traded him 5 minutes later to Dallas for a guy named Tractor Traylor and a bag of pork chops, then drafted Ray Allen, a surefire hall of famer, played him for a few years and traded him away to i think Seattle and he wound up winning it all with Boston.
how is elway not on this list? drafted by baltimore and traded to denver before ever playing.
correct me if I'm wrong but I think favre wasn't very accurate and moved around too much for the falcons.
Steelers, at least 2 times. Len Dawson, and John Unitas I understand that they were before your time. But, Unitas wrote the book on how a quarterback should run an offense. And, he called his own plays.

Is it too soon to include the Red Sox drafting Anthony Rizzo and trading him?
Top 7 best players that were late in the draft but are legends
Its not entirely fair to blame Milwaukee for trading Kareem, since it was Kareem who demanded a trade to Los Angeles. The Bucks didnt have much choice but to trade him for all they could get and avoid having a star player who just did not want to be there.
You can't blame the Falcons for letting Brett Farve go, it was Brett Farve who didn't want to be there anymore.
What about babe Ruth from Boston Red Sox to the Yankees
wasn't drafted by red sox. no draft back then, plus he was signed by the baltimore orioles first and sold to the red sox.
Deqwan low key said Kareem Abdul Jabbar won five championships, he won 1 in Milwaukee, and five with Magic Johnson
