I found this album difficult at first . 3 weeks in and I was blown away (pun intended). It made me listen to music differently there on after. To this day it’s my favourite album of all time .

Joey's gonna be ok. 2014 was a hell of a year for him. He's been in rehab since that time.

This album is THE master piece. In 1989 i was a french teenager… I'm a 51 today, an old man now, and i still listen to this album. I'm playing Gouge Away with my cover band. Thank you guys !

I remember my bro bringing home Doolittle on tape the first day it came out... I was 13, it became the center of my universe, I thought that songs and albums like this 'just happened' and that this was what I could expect as life went on, Surfer Rosa/Come On Pilgrim only bolstered that view... of course, there's been nothing like it and things have mostly gone downhill ever since lol

It's interesting Gil talking about short track times and how Frank would insist on not repeating things like verses or choruses. I kind of wish he'd still apply those values to some of the stuff they've done lately. Some of the newer songs could lose a verse here or a chorus there easily. I even think their shorter tunes added to their urgency and appeal.

Vincecouk That's the exact sentiments many of us have. The Pixies taught so many bands those song structure principles. For myself the biggest difference in new and old pixies is the how badly they labour ideas in their new songs. The odd song aside, the concise method was the key to their success.

The gig Vaughn talked about is famous among the Pixies community and it's up on youtube somewhere. It's right up there with the Alphabet show. Which is pretty obvious what they did at that show.

Great piece - Gil Norton is a Mersey legend - but close your eyes and you are listening to BBC Sport stalwart Ray Stubbs!

I always hate when people say I know this person is high and what they're high on. But I'll have to contradict myself. Joey does seem like he's on coke. Just the way he keeps moving his arms around. I suppose it could just be nerves or something else

I used to think it was kim singing Silver, until I saw them on the Doolittle 20th anniversary tour . It warmed me to the song seeing if live for the first time

I heard "Silver" on someone's youtube channel and the sound quality was great. It finally clicked for me.
