Teachers totally have a huge impact on motivation. I used to have a piano teacher who was a nice person and competent, but working with him just didn't feel right. I'm so happy I had the courage to switch. It doesn't matter how good the teacher is and how nice, if you don't click, it's better to switch. It's not an insult to the teacher.
