    Hey everyone, just wanted to say thank you for the feedback and advice for tuning, I very much appreciate it - trying to get through all the comments! Also, I believe there may be some miscommunication regarding my upload. As stated in the video, I’m someone who isn’t familiar with tuning and ran across a free app that I wanted to share. ForzaTune helps achieve a base line auto-tune that lets you continue to make adjustments as needed. This isn’t an in depth review, the evidence isn’t performed in a scientific method, and results will vary. As a beginner, I’ll continue to document results and hopefully get around to showcasing those results in a new upload. Thanks again! 🏎️

    Having those assists off takes a while to get used to but it’s super important if you want to go fast. Being able to pitch the car while one a tighter course will let you straighten the car out faster and get in power earlier in the corners, just try and practice throttle control. The Virginia track is a great place to practice this

      Virginia tries to throw off the planet every chance it gets. Very challenging.

      More suited for go karts & motorcycles than high powered cars. Definitely my least liked track on the planet, bar none. Not really sure why they picked it instead of Atlanta. It would be great on a bike though.

    I've been using Forza Tune Pro since FH4 & as I'm terrible at tuning it has really helped me.
    I do have to use the fine tuning sometimes to adjust ride/roll/turn in to suit my style.

      I like that! I actually just picked up the Pro version myself a couple days ago - really enjoying it.

      Love the app, and same had since FM 4 i think. I got pro and love how they actually message me when a new version is in works. For example they emailed to say FM version of app was coming about 2 months ago lol

    This app does the job... but make sure you use the settings option that comes up after the calculations... then you can set up the balance of the car... I usually change turn in and oversteer on cars that tend to understeer like the fwd car... so set them both to 103-105... they're usually set to 100 so little tweaks make a huge difference on tight turns.

  • @walFX
    @walFX ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Additional point.. you can turn on assist brake/steering/acceleration and let the game complete a couple laps driving itself, then add your tune and re run letting the game drive again and see if lap times are better or worse.
    The AI is pretty consistent, not the fastest and a little sketchy on some tracks but should show time differences tuned v standard.

    • @shfd3832
      @shfd3832 ปีที่แล้ว

      How to let the game complete tha lap?

    • @SDTuts
      @SDTuts ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The difference in time would be negligible, as the AI doesn't really try to push the car around the track.

  • @michaelschmitter8725
    @michaelschmitter8725 ปีที่แล้ว

    One thing that can help with your throttle control and braking is if you tighten the deadzones on the triggers in the settings. If you lower the setting on the anti squat it can help with power on oversteer.. but it may bring power on under steer if you go too much.

    FTune can give a good base tune.
    I've used it for a few years. at some point i did pay for it but can't remember what the difference is.
    The most helpful for me is the gears, keeping the car pulling throughout the gears.
    Fine tuning is essential for each car and track although a general use tune can be made. I've sometimes got a general tune and maybe 1 or 2 specific tunes for certain tracks. High speed/technical etc per car. Kind of obvious when you think about it.
    Once you have used the app for a while you soon get an understanding of what needs fine tuning without reverting back to app.
    Saying all that, the people I race with are generally quicker than me but I'm quicker using app than not if that makes sense.
    Forza is more arcade than sim and some tuning makes no real world sense.
    I will say the app has taught me what to change and what to leave alone in the tuning.

  • @Sevetamryn

    I use the App since ... FM6 i believe ... and for someone not in tuning it is a significant help. Especially for cars you don't like in default tune. However, what the App gives you may be miles away from what a knowledgeable FM tuner would do.

    Highly recommend manual gears, and manual with clutch when the car has race transmission as it shifts like a manual only faster 😊

  • @whocares8770
    @whocares8770 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Been using this app since FM6. Currently I have a few rivals times in the top 20. All my tunes made by this app. So to me its worth it. Also, you seem to not be using effective trigger control for gas and brakes. Pet that trigger, don't bang on it. Check some vids for controller settings, and if your vision is having trouble determining kick out, try chase cam. In addition, you can fine tune the setup by clicking that red button at bottom, and adjust inputs your experiencing. The changes will show a small wrench at the top of the section you need to adjust. Another thing I noticed, @4:06 app shows ride height at 50%. @6:52 You slammed it to about 20%, which translates to a suspension that is bottoming out, and not responding correctly to the track. ie. kickouts/oversteer on accel, and toning down the diff on accel can help with that also.

    • @zicburd
      @zicburd  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, that makes sense for the losing the rear end, I’m definitely a beginner when it comes to tuning, and using a controller on top of that. But the app has definitely improved times - I’ll make the adjustments and re-test for sure

    • @whocares8770
      @whocares8770 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zicburd smooth is fast, fast is smooth. The app is just another tool, not the end all beat all. If you use assist, that's fine though I encourage to ween yourself from them. Try manual shifting even if you haven't upgraded the trans/clutch. If clutch not upgraded, change your setting to manual. If upgraded clutch, change to manual with clutch. You don't have to press the clutch button, just shift it up/down as needed. Down shift when braking, can help slow you even faster. Takes some practice, but you will shave alot of time off.😅

      Does this app not work on lower class cars such as E class as gear ratio and spring etc are locked

    • @whocares8770
      @whocares8770 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@magz9816Correct. If your car isn't fully upgraded, you cannot input all of the values into your game. However, you can still use the app to get values, and input them as parts unlock. Keep in mind you may have to go back to the first screen of your tune (in app) and change values as they will change in game. Did a weight reduction, you need to change that value in the app, then change those values in game for your tune.

  • @Chr15py_
    @Chr15py_ ปีที่แล้ว +1

    All of these apps are a starting point as lets face it, we all drive differently. They give you a base tune and you adjust this to suit you. If anything you could gain 0.2 - 0.3 seconds on its own just improving the smoothness of your controller inputs. Also, manual is faster than auto all day long too ;)

    Bought the Pro version and the gearing ratio tuning alone is worth the $5, plus it can tune a specific car for a specific track

    • @DigitalTarmac425
      @DigitalTarmac425 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll try the pro version, I’ll be surprised if it can out tune my best tunes. Especially on gears, it was the first thing I got good at in the original Forza. Never been beaten off the line by the same car and I can hit the highest speeds with ratios where they need to be for each corner. On some tracks you are better not to use every gear as too many down changes can unsettle the chassis going into corners.

  • @effinjamieTT
    @effinjamieTT ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Are you setting better times because of the Tune? or better times because you're getting better at the track the more laps you do?

    • @SDTuts
      @SDTuts ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely the latter. Although using traction control instead of stability would've been better, because stability really made the car understeery when on throttle, I still think the best results were shown without any assists just like the app said. I've never used the app in motorsport, but I sincerely think learning tuning pays dividents in the long run.

  • @SupraBarzy13
    @SupraBarzy13 ปีที่แล้ว

    With the assists off, I think you need to consider two things.
    You do seem willing to modulate the throttle, but I can't tell if you're incorporating trail braking (or enough), which you need to if you aren't. Alternatively/in addition to, consider dialing in a few points of understeer to your turn exit. It will likely adjust, among other things, your diff settings which should help significantly on throttle out of turns.

  • @GHRTaco
    @GHRTaco ปีที่แล้ว

    You should be able to feel the rear tires starting to let go in the triggers with the rumblers. With high horsepower cars like that GT3 you can’t just stab and go on the throttle, you have to ease into it. I suggest going to a track like Watkins glen or road America and practicing throttle control on the big sweeping corners. Near half throttle you should feel the triggers start to rumble softly, that’s the tires letting you know they are on the edge of breaking loose.

    • @Guest-dq6lf

    Good video, thanks! I used to run Hot Laps in NFS Shift and Shift2. I made a manual setup spreadsheet and penciled in settings to track how setup changes effected lap times. An app might have helped.

    I see your using auto if your up for it I always set my manual shifting to flicking the right stick to shift instead of using buttons super easy to get use to I don’t do clutch but just a idea your lap times will improve since you can control your gears in the corners and hold the gears in corners and use the full gear on straights 🎉🎉 good luck

    It takes time to get used to traction control off but well worth it, I also put my brake bias slightly to the rear to help slide into a corner better, been playing sim racing for years on top of years, but tuning is just somthin no matter how much I try I just can't do well lol

    I've used forza tune for a while, I've also been using all assists off and manual with clutch since forza motorsport 3. It takes a while to understand and learn to control the car and your inputs but once you learn you will he seconds faster!!. Also forza is a controller game so using a wheel will not necessarily make you faster or better

    I use it since forever for the same reasons you mentioned. 0 clues about tuning, and the app can make a car usable for me.
    I feel like it's somewhat busted for the new FM, though.Worked great for Horizon 5.
    If you like it, I recommend getting the paid version to ensure the dev stays motivated in updating it.
    Edit: you can use TC without worries it's just a safety net. Stability always Off because it only hinders you when you try to rotate the car.

  • @racdude01
    @racdude01 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love ForzaTune for Horizon 5 takes all the guess work out of making tunes and as I mostly just run the playlist I’m only using a car for a race or 2 so not worth spending a bunch of time for a perfect tune just to run a race then be done with the car. I can’t drive for shit with default tune especially on a wheel so ForzaTune makes it so the cars are drivable and quick.
    I haven’t played enough Motorsport to know how well it works with that game. With Motorsport it’s all track racing and you spend more time with each car so I’m thinking I won’t rely on the app as much as I can run consistent laps with telemetry on and tune based on that. I also will need to tune cars at low levels without full race parts where the app will not be usable. Once I have cars levelled up to where I can use the app I’ll definitely use it for setting base gearing and maybe some suspension stuff too.
    It’s also definitely worth the paid version the free version really only allows for more basic generic tunes and doesn’t allow you to input as much info or get as specific as the paid version does

  • @johnbarnesNnaptown

    I had a $2 discount for the paid app. I think it's great for base tunes.

  • @DigitalTarmac425
    @DigitalTarmac425 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tested the paid app against a couple of my best tunes (not uploaded to game or my channel yet). It is surprisingly good for gearing as long as you are not on a track where too much shifting works against you so will save me a lot of time in future there. As far as handling goes, well let’s just say you won’t be topping rivals tables or cleaning up in races anytime soon. Could give some good base tunes to work from though.

    I cant drive properly with all assists on. I go for minimum assists turn full line on auto gearchange on, keep abs, but most importantly you must xhange steering to simulation with tc off. Didn't see you try that it makes a huge difference. But your going to need to give it a little time to get used to.

    • @zicburd
      @zicburd  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I think my steering is on normal. I’ll have to go back and take a look and I’ll switch over to simulation (I feel like I had it on simulation at one point)

    • @Welsh_Veteran_420_Z
      @Welsh_Veteran_420_Z ปีที่แล้ว +1

      NO simulation steering is for steering wheel only. It will initially give the impression of faster turn in but will cause fishtailing and unrecoverable snaps. This confirmed by multiple sim racers. Just to reiterate there is no benefit but big down side

    What this app does, I can give you my Excel sheet for it (for free).
    It‘s just percentage calculations…Forza has sim-cade physics and those do not follow common sense sadly.
    There will always be a way to make cars handle better, which follows its own rules in the Forza universe.
    I‘ll happily explain what most settings do if you want me to, since it‘d be to long to write everything down.
