Snowden’s point about the betrayed partner not having the information/understanding to make decisions to keep themselves safe/able to navigate a true reality is HUGE. It’s such an assault on the sacredness of life & finite time.
Kristin, what does someone do when your in financial crises and can not afford a Therapist. I'm littery dying inside. I'm a shell of my former self. It's been multiple times over 40 years each destroyed me more than the last. 49 years in and I'm 2 yrs post IT and it feels like yesterday. He won't get help. He can not speak or hear of any of my pain without becoming a tirant. It's all very complicated. I'm disappearing daily. On auto pilot completely knumb and can't find resources.
Hi. Sexandrelationshiphealing.com has a ton of online resources and groups that are all free. I have some low cost groups and resources on my website, as well. Wetonglen is a free online support community specifically for women in relationships with male sex addicts.
Maybe this can help: I joined the subreddit r/pornaddiction There are many women on there that have been betrayed by acting out behaviors, lies, and secrets.
Then why do the recovery rooms push the notion that the partner of an addict is a co addict? I have never heard the term “betrayed partner” in recovery rooms
SOME of the rooms/12 steppers use the terms co-dependency and co-addicts. In our career field of treating intimacy disorder, addiction recovery and betrayal trauma, those terms are considered outdated and we now use models that better describe what goes on within an addict family system (usually working with models around attachment theory and trauma). Dr Rob Weiss discusses this in his book Prodependence
@SoCalRegisteredNurse yep. Which is why it’s outdated and we come from more of a attachment/relarional trauma perspective instead. I agree the coaddict/codependency models can feel blaming and shaming to those who are NOT the ones doing the lying, cheating, gaslighting, etc.
I do small live groups via zoom. My workshops are listed on my website. KristinSnowden.com They’re 15 people or smaller to keep it safe and supportive.

Had empathy for my x after she left then came back around, but no attachment, it was gone (dead), had to to survive, physically and mentally
I was a cheater, then celibate 20 years, relapse, 9 years celibate now.... working on sexual integrity every day......

@@KristinSnowden Thank you so much for this clarification. Old timers and others pushed this and it made no sense. Much appreciated, Kristin
That is a great question because that term makes it sound like we, the betrayed partner, played a role and are partly responsible for their infidelity
