Thanks for this. I used a magic eraser to remove paint transfer from the doors of my 2017 Mazda CX-9 with metallic gray paint. I think I must have pressed too hard and I was freaked out I had ruined the paint. This video really helped me recognized what I had done (and not done). I look forward to fixing my mistake with peace of mind. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video.
Seriously one of the best DIY presentations on TH-cam - for any topic. You should become a TH-cam producer/director for all the folks who put out lousy DIY TH-cams. Thanks for packing in so much details in such a short amount of time with no silly wandering.
Agreed, I had some tree stains of the stuff being stuck and baked on the roof leaving a orange stain. I used magic eraser to take it off and I scratched the crap outta clear coat. Thank you for this video and time to polish!
I'm glad to see someone talk about using the Magic Eraser for getting results with paint blemishes. I've used it for a while myself and it's a helpful tool to have around. Great video. Thanks for the upload. 👍
Thank you so much for this video! I not only did what you showed in the video, but I really worked the Magic Eraser and used it on some stubborn scuff marks where I rubbed up against the pole in my garage and they ALL came out (without getting to the damage stage). It took a while to really get the magic eraser going (because I started with a new one), but once I got going and swirled it around in the areas I needed, I not only got the marks out in that area, but also on the other "scratches" that naturally occur when you're in a parking lot and someone opens up their door and scratches your paint. I got everything I wanted out and more - so thank you Wilson Auto Detailing. I really find your videos VERY HELPFUL!!!!!
Thanks so much for this video! I went to town on a few stubborn transfer marks on my car and started to see some of that clouding and freaked out. Very relieved and glad I came across your video!
Test this in a harder to see spot. It took off the finish of my car way easier and faster than in this video, and didn’t take the scratch out. I wouldn’t recommend doing this.
Make sure its completely wet with soapy water and use it very lighly. It only works because its an abrasive but with this way you can very carefully polish an area of clear coat. I found it works and lasts the longest if you hold the foam from the opposite end so that you cannot press hard
THANK YOU! I was just freaking out cuz my GF just tried using a Magic Eraser on my new car to clear out a long transfer scratch and it looked like alll the clear coat was stripped ! Thank you so much for sharing!
I just found 2 tubes of piant fix and i was wondering if i could use it to polish chromed metal but thanks to your video now i know paint fix is not the same as polish, thanks for making the video!
Thank you soooo very much. My camero that was just painted got a door ding 🙄 Received 2 estimates for $400 & $ 625. For a scratch that the size of a dime , yes a dime. But this method work !!! I can feel the scratch , but can't see it , which is fine with me 😊...money saved 😍
Omg dude! You saved my life. My wife just bought a new car and was annoyed at a spot that was maybe bird poo. I took that magic eraser to my own grave thinking I was doing her a favor. Polish fixed the problem I created right up. I owe you a beer.
yeah i follow up with the griots fine polish... liquid glass then i wash .. dry... and y'all have to try this F-11 top coat... I'm just a user who has a 60K sports car... I've used everything since the 80's.. f-11 top coat is the real deal
Phew,so glad there is a fix...I freaked out today using mr clean to spot clean some stubborn spots..now to go wax...thank you, thank. thank you...you rock !!
Thanks a million for the no-nonsense info. I just bought a Tahoe that has a badly neglected roof and was looking for ideas to quickly cut the crud before compounding, polishing, and coating
I did this to my truck while washing my car and removing some tar spots with the magic eraser. I was freaking out because it caused these dull spots. I feel much better after seeing how quickly and easily you fixed it, I'll go buy some finishing polish now.
Thanks I just noticed that I had one of those abrasions on my car paint :-( I let my dad help me remove a scratch using a Mr Clean Magic Eraser and it worked so well he got excited and started to trying it out on the spots of the car that had paint chips from little rocks hitting the car on the highway because he thought that the Magic Eraser would erase that damage too (my dads like 80 yrs old) and he rubbed it so much that it caused an abrasion on the paint where the paint got dull around that spot. I got scared and thought I would have to get the car repainted but this video was a lifesaver. Do you have the Amazon affiliate link for that polish?
Great vid, much appreciated! I did just this to my son's car trying to remove excess glue from a sticker. Goo-be-gone and a magic eraser. It worked, but dulled the paint. I was worried. Your video made the difference. 👊
I got around 8 scratch spots on the passenger door and i used this kind of magic eraser. Was totally freaked out after seeing the cloudy spot afterward 😂. Do the polishing job does settled the problem
I literally just did this and it left terrible marks... I literally put no pressure on the eraser just ran it across and now it’s cloudy... maybe the actual name brands are harder on the clear coat?!? Is it maybe a newer formula... because it does have some type of product in it. 🤦🏻♀️ I’m going to try to polish it back out like you did so 🙏🏻🤞🏻 it works.
I just took a small scuff mark off my Armada. Hit it with some wd-40 and ever so gently (almost no pressure) went at it with a magic eraser. Scuff mark gone. just takes a while but it absolutely works.
Awesome video. Thank you so much. Splashed deck stain on my car. Used a magic eraser THEN googled whether it was safe to do it not. Google said it would kill your paint. Clearly, not true!
You can put the compound to cut or polish on the magic eraser..those were ideal for removing wax & spray coatings instead of clogging up a pad just rinse repeat
I made the mistake of abrading the paint on the rocker panel of my 2019 Jetta due to road tar and grime. What’s a good polish or finishing polish? I just got this car and so pissed I thought I ruined it ...Thank you!
What a great video! Thank you so much! I wanted to learn if I could use the magic eraser safely to get differential fluid off the back of my car. It sprayed and splattered all over the entire back of my car when something on the highway hit my rear differential case. Two trips through the car wash did not take any of it off. I can scrape it off with my fingernail so thought the magic eraser would be a good idea. Thank you for this info.
Someone hit my (gold) truck and magic eraser got rid of it pretty easy. The truck hasn’t been washed in a couple of months but I didn’t notice any damage. Would you still recommend I do this on the next wash?
Hey...Thanks to you, I did buy a no name pack of Melamine foams..you saved me a lot of $$ because I use them a lot now, and wow do they come in handy...So I thank you for this my man! I am really enjoying your detailing videos and I'm glad I found this channel! I have a question though: in what order of abrasiveness is fine clay, melamine foam, 5000 grit trizac wet sanding paper? I was thinking of doing the Decon stage of a thrashed paint job using the foam instead of clay. Thank you very much!

Do you have a video for removing rubber marks or similar? I was run off the road into an orange cone and it left some rubber transfer that I think will come off if I just knew how.
Hey Luke- is the magic eraser abrasive enough to damage the finish on interior or exterior plastics that are textured ? Will it make them smooth out (not good) or simply just clean them up ?

Before they got it back to me, they waxed it and shined it up. Hi Luke, awesome content as usual, just wondering if you know what the results of using a magic eraser and a cutting compound and or a finishing compound would be?
I think it would be like if you wet sanded first. It will cloud up but then you refine it with the compounds and it will bring back the mirror look just like a polish
I applied sealant on my brand new SUV trim bc it seemed to work in a small area. Well, it became white haze all over the trim! The solution that worked for me was an eraser. Yes those little rectangular rubber pink things that your kid uses at school! It will not damage the trim at all as well. You literally erase the white haze off and wipe the eraser residue off with a wet microfiber towel. Then dry it with and dry microfiber towel. It took me 2.5 hours to do the entire SUV but my brand new car looks amazing again.

Tried this method today on the front end of an Audi and bagged $300 in an hour. Thanks for the tips big man 💪
Mr Clean erasers are great for paint transfer. For that purpose, I sometimes use wd40 as a lubricant . I always follow up with a light polish.
Yep yep

Me too & it was fuckin with my psychie😂
I use an eraser on my gray rocker panel and now have a huge circle. ugh!
Hi, cool video but wont this damage return over the next few washes/rainy days as the Wax leaves
is magic eraser the best solution for the long stains under the mirrors, or should i use a degreaser, or a clay bar kit
Also wondering if I can use this eraser in headlights that have become hazy. Thanks!

Omg going to the store. I tried surprising my mother by getting the tree sap off her car and ended up leaving 3 white circles on shiny new black paint
U can even use 1000 grit then 2000 grit to smooth clear coat orange peel followed by a polisher to reduce orange peel on the clear coat.
Can I use this to remove the alcohol stains. I had sap and used too much alcohol 😢
I used a magic eraser on my white car to remove some black spots that I really could not remove with soap and water. I did the area for like 20 secs , I thought after was that a bad idea? I can’t see any damage so I guess I am ok. Thanks for the video
The polish works great on removing the abrasion on paint. Are you able to polish out painted plastic trim that shows abrasion by a magic eraser?
Does it matter what finishing polish I use ? Which one do you use ?
Hey wilson thanks for the video i dont see the polisher on link could you provide that for me? Thank you
Do you think this will work on sunblock spots on car exterior? Thanks!
Do you have a video for removing rubber marks or similar? I was run off the road into an orange cone and it left some rubber transfer that I think will come off if I just knew how.
Is that a G Shock? Nice 👍🏼 I have a mudmaster myself
Hey Luke- is the magic eraser abrasive enough to damage the finish on interior or exterior plastics that are textured ? Will it make them smooth out (not good) or simply just clean them up ?

Will the polish come off after a car wash? And is this polish good for dark Grey color with some spec?
On yellowed headlights ? Black trim ?
Will this work for spray paint on your cars paint?
Thanks for this very helpful video!
“I’m gonna put a little more polish”

Hey can you help me.. My car have got a stain from body cover ..its looking yellowish and its so stubborn its not going at all .. I have used iso propyl alcohol , detergents etc.. So can you tell me how to remove it please 🙏
I recently used this to get some road grease off my side panel of my white pick up. Trying to see if it caused any abrasions..is it harder to see on white or would I still notice it?
Hey brother. Good video. Would you recommend it for sunfaded mildewed paint?
What about a the ruff side of a dishwashing sponge and wd40 for a scuff mark/paint transfer does it damage your paint or remove dealership paint protection aka ceramic coating
Can you use them to get light scratches out of the black trim. On the car. I think it would leave a white mark and full the black even more. It's black plastic trim
So its good for wet sanding and buffing😳😳

I don't expect it to be perfect ..I just want to try to make it look a little better.
Thanks in advance! Your videos are great :)
I bought some from aliexpress, it's very cheap and okay. Just be careful of the size. I use it daily for cleaning my windshield because I love to have very clean glass.
Process :
- spray some alcohol and water (30 alcohol, 70 water) on the magic eraser to avoid overspray
- clean with magic eraser
- wipe it off with a microfiber
- finish with a glass microfiber
The result is perfect ! It works for interior (if you like the smell of alcohol) and for exterior.
Yep! Great strategy!
If you buy on Aliexpress look for the high density ones. They are more or less the same as branded the ones. The regular one is too soft and doesn't last at all.
Thanks for advice.@@janoskosik3168
Man i did that to my gs350 f sport, i freaked out! Thanks ft for the video!
Will this remove my ceramic coating if used?
How would the eraser do with removing bugs ?
Hit the bug residue with a dedicated bug and tar remover. Do your final touch ups with the eraser. Polish and wax.

Chemically resistant sealants will not come off with the clay.

Magic eraser is like 3000 grit. Good for correcting clear coat swirls but of course you must use a polisher after wards.
Hey Wilson, how do you remove wax that get on to black window trims? Thanks
It took me 2.5 hours to do the entire SUV but my brand new car looks amazing again.
it is safe to use on trim doors?
