Any lawsuit with insane values are there just to grab headlines, especially since there are legal limits on how much a plaintiff can receive in a civil liability case. Also it's a class action so out of that 5 million, a maximum of 5-8 hundred thousand will go to her, IF she can actually get anyone to join the suit.

The reason that the judge heard it and it went to trial is because McDonald's admitted to having a special coffee machine engineered and they even have the patent for it, they wanted the coffee machine to make and keep their coffee at 155 degrees!!! Normal and even industrial coffee machines only make the coffee at around 100 degrees max and McDonald's didn't believe they had done anything wrong because they had always advertised their coffee ad a fresh "hot" cup of coffee. So they didn't think it was necessary to put a warning on the cups saying that it's so hot that if you spill it on you it will cause 3rd degree burns and you'll be scarred for life like that lady is... That was definitely a wild court case lol it was like every day something even more crazy was found out than whatever was found out the previous day 😅😅😅
