    Add a drop off dish soap when making your washes it helps get it to flow much better into those recesses

      Yeah, I do it when i think about it but i really need to keep a small flask of dishsoap on the craft space it'll be easier to remember !

    You can get better wire than paperclip wire. Paperclip wire is already worked hardened. You need something more malleable.

    • @LandvaettrsLair
      @LandvaettrsLair  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right a more souple wire is better especially for the ribcage. I actually have a wide variety of wire at home, just wanted to show It's doable with paperclips and pasta, two very common items in a household. Anyway I have updated the technique and found a new way to do Bones either hollow or with articulation. I may do a short tip vid on it! Thanks for your feedback !

    I have some tiny foam balls from the dollar store. I wonder if I couldn't just use those for skulls. Harden them with the mod podge, maybe drill some hole to give the impression of eye sockets.

    • @LandvaettrsLair
      @LandvaettrsLair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, depends on how many you need I guess. Too tedious for my own taste and I usually need a lot of them so I usually just buy them. I find time to be more valuable than money but it boils down to personnal preference...

    Awesome technique bro! Macaroni and paper clips! This could come in very handy! Reminds me of pictures I've seen of the catacombs in Paris. I think that even I could do this! As always....Love it! A build with good bones! LOL

  • @AdamBragg

    That ended up looking really good. I do wonder about the long term durability of using pasta for the bones though.

      Uncooked pasta will outlive you. 😀

    • @scottplumer3668
      @scottplumer3668 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once it's painted, it shouldn't absorb any moisture from the air, so it should last quite a while. My only issue with the pasta was that there are no joints on the ends of the bones.

    • @AlexBabcock-hw9iz
      @AlexBabcock-hw9iz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@scottplumer3668 perhaps a bit of hot glue or even other types of glue could give that look of the flared bones. I might try using wisps off the glue gun also. Maybe even some tiny branches of dried plants might make good"bones".

    Finding these to buy in resin or any fake mini bones are soooo expensive where I am so Ty for this I'll need a lot of practice before I'm as good as you lol x

    If you're experiencing warping, consider covering the bottom of the piece with white glue, it will counteract the warp.

    Always good to have some bone heaps for the dungeon :)

  • @brstrange99
    @brstrange99 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Awesome idea. Weill definitely give this a try. I have a wood glue bottle that has gotten plugged up so I have been dipping a stock in the bottle to get some glue. After multiple uses the layers of glue make a the end bulbous. This may make the femurs appear realistic, though I wouldn't want to do it on that many bones.

    • @LandvaettrsLair
      @LandvaettrsLair  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Billy Strange Good idea. Alternatively since then I've come up with a faster technique to do femurs and such. You can use the plastic sheath of floral metal wire by removing the metal wire. The wire can be used to do the ribcages and thinner bones while the plastic shaft can be flaten every femur length with plyers then cut in the middle of each flatten zone. I'll look less bulbous and slightly less realistics than your technique but you'll fastly end up with hollow marrowless bones that are wider on each side. While not as bulbous as your other bones this could be an easier way to bulk up easily you bone pile while getting a more ralistic look. Hope this was helpful! Cheers!

    I'm surprised how well the ribcages came out. And before the paint went on I was thinking, "there's no way this is going to look legit...", but -- as usual -- I was surprised how amazing it looked in the end.

    • @LandvaettrsLair
      @LandvaettrsLair  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, yeah the ribcages are neat. Since then I even round another way to do better bones to diversify the rest of the pile...

    I didn't quite understand what you used for the individual vertebrae. Some kind of sand?

    • @LandvaettrsLair

      Todd Slanga it coarse-grained sand. The type of sand used in aquariums.

    Great idea and excellent look. Where did you get skulls in scale?

    • @LandvaettrsLair
      @LandvaettrsLair  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joseph Rizzo in scale? I don't understand what you mean. These skulls come from greenstuff and are meant for 28mm scale but i'm sure you can find many other miniature brands selling similar skulls.

    • @josephrizzo6359
      @josephrizzo6359 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you provide the link? The skulls I find are larger then 28 mm scale

    • @LandvaettrsLair
      @LandvaettrsLair  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joseph Rizzo www.greenstuffworld.com/en/scenery-accessories/350-100x-resin-skulls-sack-skulls.html
      I checked and it's actually a mix of 25-28-35mm skulls but they fitted great i figured the smaller ones would make for younger corpses and the larger ones for big guys.

    • @LandvaettrsLair
      @LandvaettrsLair  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hanno Conring well obviously you can do smaller ones if you want. But trust me, ossuaries in some crytps can be quite impressive!

      you could even put this on a mini to make a bone monster

    • @LandvaettrsLair

      TZ_Joey Yes defenetly. I just made a plain pile because i needed accurate ossuary for a crypt but you can defenetly customise it like you want! +1 for the Bone Monster i think a saw such hybrid on the TCG a few days ago btw!
