JustAnswer Customer: Dream Maker spa has stopped heating all of a sudden.
JustAnswer Customer: Always heated to 102 in a couple hours.
JustAnswer Customer: Pump is working .
    JustAnswer Customer: Jets are working.
JustAnswer Customer: Don't hear any noises.
JustAnswer Customer: But won't heat past 83 .
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: Hello, how can I help you today?
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: The dream maker spas use a balboa control pack, is your topside controller showing that it's heating, basically is the heat light lit up saying that it's trying to heat the water?
JustAnswer Customer: yes it seems to be operating correctly
JustAnswer Customer: I am not sure if mine uses the Balboa ?
JustAnswer Customer: do you need the serial # XXXXX my spa
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: It's usually easier if I see a picture of the control pack itself, but from my experience on Dream makers, the access door is kind of a pain in the butt to get off sometimes.
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: If the heater indicator light is ON as you mentioned, then that indicates that there's no errors on the display and all of the heater relay circuits should be closing.
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: From this point it's sounding like a bad heater, but to verify that we'd have to do a couple of tests with a meter if that's something you have and are comfortable with working with.
JustAnswer Customer: we have the door off , but let me back up.
JustAnswer Customer: When you say heater light ?
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: Most topsides have either a light or a heater icon on the digital display that glows when the spa is heating
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: If you have a picture of the topside, I could point it out to you, or you may already know what I'm referring to .
JustAnswer Customer: send the picture where
JustAnswer Customer: I have pictures of the whole mess
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: you should be able to attach it with the paperclip icon above your chat window or sometimes it looks like a little christmas tree icon.
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: If you can't get it to send in chat, I may have to switch out of chat so you can send it through the Q and A side of the site.
JustAnswer Customer: no i think i got it
    JustAnswer Customer: Full Size Image
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: there ya go.
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: Okay, it would be the led right under the down arrow that you use to raise and lower the temperature, that's your heater indicator light.
    JustAnswer Customer: Full Size Image
JustAnswer Customer: yes the little led is on
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: the second pic is of the label on the spa, I'd need one of the control box that's down there, they are both made by different companies.
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: Leisure Bay makes the spa shell, but someone else makes the control box.
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: sorry to have to ask so many questions, but it'll make it easier to troubleshoot once I'm sure what we're working on.
    JustAnswer Customer: no problem.
JustAnswer Customer: I have a bed and breakfast and someone coming in that specifically wanted the hot tub.
    JustAnswer Customer: lol.
JustAnswer Customer: i don't care how many questions you ask

JustAnswer Customer: the temp has now dropped from 83 to 76 and the spa has been on all day without shutting off once
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: Ok, yes, that's a Balboa Mach 7 control box.
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: Ok, do you have a meter to test with?
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: That is if you feel comfortable testing a couple of things inside the box as I realize a lot of people out there don't really want to get into the electrical part.
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: But basically the process of troubleshooting goes like this.
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: We first look to see if the heater indicator light is on, if it's not, then we've got a problem in the heater safety switch circuit and it takes some time troubleshooting.
poolguy810: owner - pool and spa service company: Since the light is On as you said, then we can rule out the safety circuit and we're down to one of two things because an ON light means the board should be sending voltage to the heater.
