      For me it’s torx bits that don’t break, though my dad has a habit of not putting the 10mm wrench back, it seems no other tool stays out of the box more, but he likes to not put everything back when out helping our friend or at the scrap yard, he looses tools a lot, his way of justifying it is that it’s his set and it’s his problem if he looses tools, issue is he blames me if anything goes missing even if it’s been months since I used anything, so I take care of it like my own just to make sure things don’t get lost

    I've got a W9 McCormick Deering tractor in much the same condition. It was my grandfather's and I recently was able to get it from the last owner. He just gave it to me because it had sat outside and is stuck solid. It's another case of "it doesn't make financial sense, but it should be fun...". But, it was grandpa's, and I have happy memories of it and him.

    Nice to see her fixed up! If you you nix the loader, replace the front tires, fix the hole in hood, maybe find an original power steering pump, repair the seat, do a repaint, and get everything working you have a better chance of getting your money out of it. Sell privately as a restored tractor with receipts for the overhaul and explaining what you did and you’ll get $5-$7k for it to the right person. Would be a great work, parade, or collector tractor for someone.
    Often times people look at what a runner might bring online BUT there is little to no history. If someone can have confidence in the tractor and you, and what you’ve done that adds value and someone can feel better about spending money for a reliably repaired machine. Don’t sell yourself short!

    Hey Wes, thanks for all the videos over 2020, you helped a lot of us get through a bugger of a year. Enjoy your approach to trouble shooting so many issues, found it very informative. Some folks might complain about you "talking", well silent movies got much better when the characters talked (just saying). It also gives us an insight into what you may be thinking. So, yeah keep talking, beside that you have an excuse your talking to us and not all alone in your shop...lol I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas from my house to yours and a Happy New Year into 2021 (Hopefully a better year for everyone). Many years ago I worked with a guy that was an owner operator and mechanic of heavy equipment, this is back in the 50's, 60's and 70's. He once told me that when ever he developed a coolant leak he would stop at a grocery store and by some black pepper, remove the radiator cap and poor in the black pepper and this would stop the leak. I have a pretty good news for you Wes. You’re a terrible liar!!🤣🤣🤣 I sensed from the beginning that you had a surprise for that Oliver. Tank you for all the entertainment you provide us during those tuff times in 2020. Merry Christmas and a happy new year for you, your wife, kid and the dog. Greetings from Brazil.

    I wish I had people that would work on Oliver's near me. My moms side of the family owned a big Oliver, I don't know which model, but it meant a lot to my mother as that was what she learned to drive on. Apparently our crazy aunt just gave it away to some "mechanic" a few months ago without permission from my grandpa (the owner) and without letting us know.

    We've had Oliver diesels on dad and my farms since 1953, they start as fast as any when they're up to snuff, we never use the preheaters. My 1650 is tired, probably low compression and injection system worn, it starts a lot better with fast starter, I guess if I was going to spend to get it back to what it once was I would trade it on one that needed less. Your 1650 looks much better than mine does, looks like its worth saving. I m just an old Oliver lover dont mean to be a pest, enjoy your videos.

      I might be dating myself, but in the mid to late 90's (i think, maybe a bit sooner) they swapped the fat they fried the potato chips in ... the results as one former president once said (okay it was a bad impersonator on a morning radio show)... sounded like hail on a farm pond...

    I never knew Oliver was wet sleeved. I grew up with farmall, and remember when IH 66 series tractors went to wet sleeve. My dad had a IH dealership in the 70's, and the first wet sleeve tractors had issues with sleeve cavitation, so we retrofitted them with coolant filters per IH corporate instructions.

    I drove an old Oliver 70 over 60 years ago. That tractor was old then. The guy I worked for still lives on the farm in Montana where I worked. He's 91 now. I was 16. Great to see old Olivers in use and getting ready for more use. The 770 has almost double the PTO hp, but only .2 liter more displacement. Amazing that 3.5 liters today gets you 275+ hp (in cars). Looking forward to seeing more on the 770. You made mention of a few of my favorite TH-camrs! Musti1 is a never miss. Diesel Creek and the dirt guy are right up there too!

    @filobeto1691 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Wes here is a thought for content. Jerk that loader off of there and either sell it or scrap it. Now here is the part where you forge a new TH-cam frontier. Create a new attachment for the 770, maybe a jib crane or a forklift attachment. Next reach out to the Oliver community, see if you track down some of the original engineers from Charles City. Create a documentary that allows the world to see how the design concept functioned back then. Let us see the pieces, assemblies and components materialize on a drafting table with a slide rule.
    Next take us all on the journey of fabrication, welding, and assembly. And to put a nice a bow on the whole project lets us see how all the drawings for parts, service, and maintenance are joined to create the necessary factory literature.
    The reason that people so enjoy the older equipment is that the artifacts have a connection to the human soul. These items began in someone's mind. The drawings were made by a human hand. Another human hand turned the lever on a Brown and Sharp screw machine. The sweat from a welder flowed into the flux from a large Lincoln Sub-Arc unit. There is a human connection in the old iron.
    To my knowledge no one on TH-cam has attempted the proposed endeavor. You could be the pioneer Wes. I would watch Wes, and so would a great many others. I have watched enough folks drown poor old engines with either and ignorance.
    I would volunteer to do some machine work, lay a bead, or pull some wrenches.
