All these VW's have this problem and its annoying. Not to mention the door covers and the easy to break pieces. I now drive a Japanese vehicle and have way less issues compared to these vehicles.
joann fabrics has it in stock usually. you can check their website and put in your zip code to see if its in stock near you. for my gti I got 2 yards (6 ft) for $40. Also buy the nice 3M™ Headliner Adhesive. You can get the glue from auto part stores like Autozone or O'Reileys. Also get a putty scraper and some nice scissors or a razor blade.
