These two examples will become real conversations pieces Tom, especially the girl one, to me that one looks like two girls one stood behind the other (i don't really know),lol but both nicely done and your right they could have included a lot more occupations on the old gent one.
Hi Chris. The lady picture is way beyond me. Far too surrealistic and deep, for my wee understanding. I did get the old man and the list of east Belfast trades but these trades could describe anywhere. The important key trades or work ( shipbuilding, rope making, linen making, engineering, baking, distilling ) were surprisingly left out!!!! Why? Maybe I'm just being very particular. The artwork was brilliant but........
Well the funny thing is Tom,they've left out the main ones,I'm not saying the others are not important, of course they are but Shipbuilding etc,etc are the ones that stand out as it were.
Hi Douglas. It was painted on to parachute cloth rather than on to the building. I believe that this specialist technique vastly extends the life of the mural. I get the old retired worker but not the lady round the corner with the 4 arms and 4 eyes. -Very strange. A bit daft to me. Is this what Esst Belfast ladies look like? lol
Hi Tom, the girl has her mobile phone in her hand and what we see is her image from two perspectives, in other words a reflected image of today’s reality. The man is representing of an image of the past, what it once was. I’m probably completely wrong, but wonderful art anyway.
Thanks Richard. I understood the picture of the old guy but was disappointed that a number of key east Belfast historic industries were ignored. EG There is no mention of shipbuilding, rope making, linen making, engineering, baking, distilling. these industries made built east Belfast and made it so different from other geographical areas. I just didn't get the lady secretary type girl and her 4 eyes and arms. Too surrealistic for wee me! lol
Not at all sure Mike. I have come across this mural painting technique only once before in Belfast. Apparently it will enhance the potential life span of the artwork. So many murals can be literally washed off/destroyed by a combination of the cold, wind and rain in just a few years. So these parachute cloth murals are made to last up to 25 years or more.
Very imaginative and unique! 👍
Yes GC. I get this mural but the other one although excellent art, is lost on me.

I can't understand this Chris! lol
Tom I spotted this on Monday morning and wondered whether it was painted or pasted on.I can't make my mind up on this one.

Exactly Shaun. Daft as a brush the girl one! lol
@@TomMcClean hahahaha I never hear anyone say Daft as brush here :)
Ah Shaun, they don't know what they're missing over there!
It's definitely an eyecatcher, but how come it is painted on parachute cloth? and not the building itself. Thanks Tom
Not at all sure Mike.
