Nice little video. Takes me back 43 years to my first "wild camp" in 1979. I was 14 years old, up on Ingleborough after doing Penyghent. It were all fields back then.
That tent has an incredible vestibule, great for going through bad weather !
Well I'll be darned. I'm just currently reading Russ' Fell Asleep spring book, and here he is!
I was up Ingleborough today, said to my brother in law that it would be perfect to wild camp as so flat! You beat me to it 😊
Great vid 👍🏻
Soon as the Mrs saw your chair she wanted one lol looking forward to your little chat/podcast
Nice one Paul , there’s plenty of room in the Nallo 3 .. I have the Nallo 2 and that’s a palace … cheers Stevie
Hi from Adelaide, Australia. Thank you Paul for another great video. I like this current tent you have and am thinking of taking up hiking/backpacking next year. Thank you for all your inspirational videos from your early days to now. Good onya mate !!
Never been up Ingleborough in clear weather. Beautiful view
Norwegian Xplorer often uses the Nallo3 for his shelter.
Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.
I must admit I do like a Hilleberg tent! I’ve got 3 at the moment and I’m currently on Skye in my Allak 3. Glad you’ve got another one. They are fantastic bits of kit. Expensive yes but worth every penny. 👍. Great little vid again too. Nice one. 👍
Are all the Hillebergs that bad at dealing with wind. The helm that the other guy had seemed to be much better in the wind, hardly any flapping about. I keep hearing how great Hillebergs are but I'm , so far, very unimpressed..Looked at the Soulo but too small for me, poor vestibule, bad condensation, and bad zips. I did hear they will make a bespoke tent, but don't know if its true.
@@Chris66able I had nothing but problems with my Hilleberg Akto. Switched to the TerraNova Pioneer 2 - wow. What an awesome tent. Absolutely love it 👍🏻
I have Nallo 2 and I absolutely love it.
That Nallo is a palace mate 👌👏
I absolutely love that Nallo tent, time for an upgrade I think 😊
I really love the shape of that tent, looks cute.
That looks like a very comfortable tent!
Another great video Paul. My son is looking to do the 3 Peaks later this year. I keep forwarding him your videos for inspiration. thx
Walked over there a few times when doing 3 peaks. Nice views Great tent your in
"not a bad job" brilliant Paul! X
Brilliant....I followed russ on his wainwright challenge a great achievement, what a tent Paul looked amazing, im sure its on your radar but the thermarest NXT is getting some great reviews and looks very comfortable.. cheers all the best marra
Great video Paul.
We did the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge last month for Versus Arthritis and hit Ingleborough last. Even though we were knackered it was definitely the best climb of the 3! Although when we did it, it was covered in cloud and looked a bit like Mars. It's crazy to see how different it is when you were up there, Paul😂
Great video Paul, as always 👍👍👍👍
Love my Ground Zero it's ideal for bikepacking or lightweight hiking because of the compact weight and design. I also have the quilt cover for mine but I rarely use it because its too bulky on the bike but its great on a shorter hike when using my 65lt bag.
83 go girl lovely spot for camp that fellers
just watched the video were you took the missus on camp, noticed you cooked your sandwich steaks whole , I cut mine into strips with scissors, cooks easier and easier to eat , also sainsburys do small tongs ,it's a twin pack and one set has plastic ends , lights as a feather and the plastic one won't scratch ya pan ,great videos and awesome advice , cheers
On the sitting aspect, my first tent in 80s was A frame. I ended up returning to it due to the sitting aspect. I have trekking pole holding the A up, I sit at night in tent against the pole and if nice outside sit up against pole outside.
To enter/exit I move the pole to the side and extend the pole.
Would be keen to see a review on the new Sierra Designs Flex Trail pack you have there. Looked a good night out as always!
Lovely views of the top, of one of my favourite parts of the country - although it is decades since I have done the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, but would love to do it again.
Nice looking new sleeping bag - but a bit odd to see you curling up in the Belgium flag on St Georges Day...😂
Hay Paul a great setup and evening to be in the wilds and if your still out tonight the could be the northern lights making an appearance
If you are not hiking for days on end the little bit of extra weight is worth all the room and comfort in my opinion.
Paul i completely agree with chair i sold my Therma rest chair and now regret it cant sit inside tent on my traceology chair i should have kept the Therma rest chair too oh well you live and learn anyway all the best Paul another good vid
Watching this wild camping in my hilleberg jannu :)
Love the direction you're taking with the podcasty chats as well as camps 👍
Paul, great video as always. Can you put a link or description of the bits of kit your using? That wee table and low chair were ace! Duvet looks good too. Cheers. Keep up the amazing content.
Room for three in there Paul!
Good video. The rice and fish issue, I just eat the fish out of the tin and just eat the rice out of the bag. Mixing just is another added risk of accidents. Also like chilli sauce mackeral.
Looks like a great tent, just personal preference, but I still prefer the abisko lite2, I had the nallo 2 and for some reason, I don't know why but it suffered from a lot of condensation where as the abisko...so far, had not shown any condensation and I'm in there with the dog too but really good looking tent the nallo and love the stealth green. Other thing, I always use the trekker chair, yes it's on the floor which doesn't suit everyone but for me it's great, I can get inside zip up the door and sit back in it and watch a film or whatever...with a dog snoring next to me😂.
You buying expensive kit shouldn't bother anyone, you have reviewed plenty of cheaper gear over the years so it's good to see the expensive stuff...give people an idea what they can save up and aim for😊
Really enjoyed this video 😊 He’s still not using the Lanshan 2 then (lessons learnt) 😂
Another excellent video for us vicarious campers. Excuse the personal question but do you wear thermals under those trousers? I have a pair but they seem very thin.
Great to see you out with Russ. I took part in the attempt at a world record with his bivy bag challenge in February last year and loved every minute. Sadly I wasn’t available on the date he arranged it for this year but will keep my diary clear for the next one. Good to see the Nallo out on it’s maiden voyage
Beautiful views. The Hilleberg Nallo is a palace. It looks like you are ready to tackle an expedition! Really interested to learn more about Russ - interesting fellow. I truly enjoy your interviews. Which pack were you using in this video?
You need to do a mountain camp in scotland in the nice weather some time
Love your vids paul, always interesting and informative Qn: assuming the same temp rating, when would you use a quilt over a sleeping bag of the same weight price & density ?
Try the Featherstone Outdoor Gear Quilt, very affordable and I've used mine down to zero tent temperature. Really rate it for the price.
Paul.
What do you think of the mill tech modular system and bivvy sack. I value your advice as you have a lot of knowleve with kit and stuff.
Hi Paul, Where's the little fold down table in this video from marra, could be handy for my hadrians wall walk in May, cheers
Nice video mate - keep up the good work !
I’ve been looking for a table like that for ages! Thanks for sharing.
Your review persuaded me to get the Nallo 2 GT. I see that you use the footprint. I think that I will, too. Not to protect the tent, but I like a floor in my vestibules. You might agree that it is worthwhile?
How’s the new sierra flex pack? I have to say I am a fan of the sierra designs stuff, I’ve a flex pack myself (old version) and I’ve the same quilt, love the quilt so warm even too warm on occasion.
The moon in on it's back. It's going to be a cold night @9:24,
Would you do a review on the quilt Paul ?
Interesting, Ingleborough is the only one I've not done. Might do an overnighter too as it looks plenty flat away from the main path and trig point
Ingleborough is the best one.
Just bought a used soulo black label, looking forward to using it soon
Where did you find that for sale?

Nice job Paul. Nice tent. What you fuming with these days? I just bought the Insta360 X3. My 1st 360.
Think you left the timestamps from the first wildcamp guide vid.. in this vids description and timeline ATB (Nice tent mate)
Ey up pal, I've the nallo 2, been looking for inner mesh, hens Teath, got the anjan inner mesh in the end fits perfect, summer ready like, just in case you wondered, anjan 3 inner mesh should fit yours
Hey Paul
I've would love to see you try the freeze dried food from real turmat produced by drytech.
I work at a outdoor shop in Belgium and I must say these are by far the best ones I've tried! Please check em out if you haven't😊 love the video's as always ! Cheers
Hey Paul (-:)~ Question - why the Nallo 3? Possibly so's you can entice Jo along, and still with plenty of space? I have an 'original' Nallo 2, C1995, with equal length poles (as per Nammatj), and the newer Nallo too ie with unequal length poles. With two people, the old style is great if your companion wants to curl up at the tail end of the tent. The newer design leaves less head space at the back, but has a wee bit more width at the front. I still use my nearly 30 year old Nallo 2 from time to time. But to the first point - why a Nallo 3? It's total overkill for one, surely?! I know it's only ? 200 gm more than the 2 person tent, but it IS 'flappier', so much more material than the 2. And the 2 is almost overkill for one as it is. I sometimes double-pole the newer version, and have even double-guyed it in severe weather. Only the material ripping away from the guy/pegging out points will destroy it! And this - once you've had one Hilleberg, 'lesser' brands down't stand a chance! I LOVE my Akto for lightest-but-strongest compromise, and I will be dead - I am 66 - before any of my (4, I have a Nallo 3GT as well) Hillies actually wears out. Lightest always sounds like the best option, but my Henry Shires Moment will die before me or any of my Swedish fortresses. It's a great compromise, but it lacks almost all the Hilleberg touches. Even my Exped Orion 2, although bomb-proof once pitched, is a pain to erect in wet or windy weather. Give me Swedish design every time! (Guess what my car is...) Cheers, Paul, keep on doing what you do, all good stuff (-;
Is that a new Sierra Designs pack? Is it the gigawatt or the flex trail? How do you find it?
Paul im still waiting for a gear list of what you were wanting to sell off ? How can we talk privately ?
Better to be overkill than underkill on your shelter.
That’s a big backpack tent for one.
Ade me feel better about taking an older Mira 2 HL with me for just me.
Fact is, the space is handy if you aren’t just Bivi style and especially if the weather is … erm, English
Hi Paul are you still using this tent? Do you like it?
Normal blanket or SpongeBob SquarePants mode.😂
nice video but the introduction part ... from distance and camera was uncomfortable to stay till finishing. 🤕
Paul, you'll get de-monetised, you keep pushing "free grass"😂😂
Just googled the Nallo; £900! Flippety-chips!
👋🏻
Where are all the trees......lol
That's not a tent, it's a Palace.
Funny to see people (tent makers) going back to tunnel tents and or ridge style tents. Geodesic seems to be a dated idea now - bizarre. Presume with modern tiepoint design and materials, some traditional designs are more robust than they used to be. If only I had the money!
DOOD!
Are the chapter names not right for anybody else or is it just me? I'm sure they are from another video you've just done about wild camping fears?
Sorted thanks
Comments are back?
No😅
Had a Nallo 2 for about 6 years now. I've also got and Akto and have tried an Anaris and Niak but didn't stick with either of those 2.
The Nallo is the most dependable and enjoyable to be in out of all those I've tried. I've slept countless nights in it in all sorts of awful weather and the worst I've ever had is a peg rip out.
Yes they are a bit heavy and a bit flappy but there is no perfect tent for all scenarios, just the best compromise for your intended use and the Nallo is exactly that for me for 2 person 4 season UK use.
Sure you will keep yours for a while Paul, enjoy it
Is this a joke, have you ever been outside your home for multiple weeks or is this a product review for uk ?
Only 25 commentsand already there are a few w*ankers.
Agree with you. I don’t get it? What is it with people? Not happy unless they are putting someone down. Sometimes his videos aren’t my cup of tea, but I just move on. Just unsubscribe ffs.
@@davidsykes5635 You have a valid point, but it's a camping video on TH-cam, a bit of a First World problem if people find it upsetting.
83 year old putting me to shame. Mmmmm not too difficult. I think you'd benefit more walking further in before you camp. Stands back and waits for the ........
Hahahahahaha that and the cheeky can of beer he tends to always have to hand... 🤣🤣🤣
Fyi, everyone. There is no such a recognised activity as 'wild' camping. It is simply camping for goodness sake. It's just another pathetic term made up for lone, friendless saddos. Camping is simply settling up camp anywhere. One has to ask, is there such a thing as 'tame' camping? Ptcha!
"tame" camping would be on a campsite camping. You can't wild camp on a campsite.
this is just camping in a field not real backpacking / camping in my opinion , look at the Appalachian trail now thats what I call backpacking / camping for starters
They're near enough camping on the side of a mountain lmao hike your own hike, dont worry about what you think is camping or not
