- Not too much to say about the Texas in general, it's a very straight forward premium ship. As usual you can skip to 16:14 for Modules, Upgrades and Captain Perks. Texas AA in action: • AA Test - USS Texas vs...
TL;DW If you enjoy the New York, you'll enjoy the Texas. It has no premium match-making, meaning you can end up against T7 just like the NY. A strong BB, but that's mostly because the NY it's based on is also a strong BB. Great synergy with the rest of the US BB line, meaning you can train and use captains from any tier BB.
Any difference at guns,shells,armor,penetration values,shell arcs with the new york?

+George Washington Not from what I could tell. The New York is a tiny bit faster (0.5knots) and turns a smidgen faster (1.5s faster rudder shift), but in return the Texas has vastly superior AA.
+Flamu Turret arcs are clearly better though. The middle turret is actually able to angle further forward than the superfiring rear turret. On New York that middle turret can barely shoot ahead of directly broadside. Didn't see it closely, but it looks like the superfiring forward turret is able to turn further back than the one on New York as well. This makes Texas a significantly more flexible battleship than New York.

Nice to see a BB captain not hug the border and snipe from extreme range all battle (2 wyomings and kongo). Another great video and game play.
+ericdegrace I get what you mean, but when I'm on the Kongo and I try to push, my cruisers turn back and I just end up dead.

The Texas was a little bit slower since during her upgrade, she had torpedo blisters added. That made her wider, without making her any longer, which slowed her down.

The NA server is already anticipating this ship - as long as it's not outrageously priced, it will sell quite well, simply because of which ship it is. Even if all it is, is just a New York with buffed short ranged AA - a good solid ship with a little something extra - it will be a welcome improvement over the "lackluster" assortment of USN premiums we have now.

Nathan Peterson I have a rocky relationship with the Sims. It was a great deal better when it was originally sold, during the CBT days, and it largely lost that old feel. It's still competitive, but I definitely wouldn't call it awesome.
That AA looks very nice for tier 5. The Bofors 175 DPS at 4.2 km for a tier 5 is great.

+Calle Söderberg Just as a note, in a lot of European languages (German comes to mind) "w" is pronounced as a "v" sound. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case in finnish.
+TuxPenguin Finnish actually don't use "W" at all. It's around for some names and foreign words, but not much else. My own Swedish makes very little difference between "V" and "W" as well, but since Flamu is speaking English here he really should abandon "VeeGee". :)
Incidently, both Finnish and Swedish call "W" "double-vee" (dubbel-ve / tupla-vee) instead of calling the consonant the double version of a vowel like English do.

Hey Flamu, think we'll ever get a T8 USN Premium? At this point, there are more Pan-Asian T8 premiums than USN. I feel like that's kinda screwed up, given that the US accounted for 70% of the world's tonnage of military vessels over 1000 tons after WW2. I honestly don't understand why we don't have something like the Enterprise, or a toned-down South Dakota, maybe the Alaska, or the Worcester. The Enterprise and Worcester in particular would be really cool. Enterprise because of the history behind it, the Grey Ghost, and the Worcester because it'd be a supremely cool ship. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worcester-class_cruiser

Hmm. I suppose the whole "let the enemy kill themselves on your shells" thing could also work on the Furutaka, considering it's basically a shrunk-down, poorly armored battleship. Its AP shells hit like an 18-wheeler, and cruisers at that tier have poor armor, so…

Somewhat of a weird choice for a Premium considering that all the beta testers have the Arkansas Beta anyway, that isn't thaaaat much different (outside of the AA obviously).

the problem i had with the NY wasnt so much the speed, it was hte useless middle turret
it was unusable without giving a lot of broadside
the wyoming is miles better in comparison
you benefit from better tiering and more guns

+WalkableBuffalo Atlanta has terrible range, terrible shell arc, large citadel area, easy to spot (relative to its range especially). It's turret's get knocked out very easily (had games where I've had 1 turret left). Use to be more competetive when it first came out, but now days
a)people aim more effectively on average
b) new CA lines have 15-16k range at this tier (compared to 11 stock of Atlanta).
c) ships rudder shift times are far quicker than they were when it first came out, making it easier to avoid incoming fire.
To be competitive again it needs slightly better range and slightly better shell arc (15 second travel time to fire 13ks). On the plus side it'll demolish any destroyer that makes the mistake of getting close to it. It is good for firing over terrain and setting crap on fire. Overall, it severely lacks versatility, a lot of times it is hard to find an opportunity to push close enough to shoot anything.
When Atlanta gets into those one in a hundred type scenarios where it's in range of an enemy and it's in a fairly safe position while being supported by allies, then it can absolutely destroy any cruiser and any destroyer it faces. This makes it very map and very team dependant, thus making Atlanta unreliable on top of uncompetitive.
+Ian Anderson Trouble with that is that the game does F All to reward you for escorting CVs. You will get next to no points for shooting down aircraft attacking your CV or any other friendly for that matter.
Ian Anderson Why? CV's now have the AA consumable that the majority of CA's have for use at the beginning, if the enemy CV tries to snipe them at the start. Atlanta is just not useful because of it's low range, it's okay at doing one or two things if the situation allows for it, but that isn't good enough for a £30 premium ship.
more AA -> more tonnage -> slower ship
It is so annoying how the flight model for the USN 15 inch guns is far superior to the 16 inch guns. Late tier USN BBs (7-10) are so frustrating to shoot with their dispersion.

Texas strikes me as P2W, in the same way Atago does. You trade half a knot in speed for better AA than every T6 ship (except for Cleveland), let alone T5, and better gun arcs on your amidships turret.

It doesn't offer a different game style. It does exactly what the NY does right now except it's straight-up _better_ at it. That's almost the picture of P2W.
That's WG's new premium plan. Make every one better than the standard tech tree to try and increase sales. Sometimes it is not by much but premiums shouldn't be overall better. It's to late to change the Atago without having to offer refunds but they need to really try harder to keep them balanced.
