I try to drive from Lisbon to Barcelona and I don't make it

After picking up my Defender which was stranded in Lisbon for over 9 months, I attempt to drive back to Germany. The plan was to drive from Lisbon to Querenca to pick up some stuff I have stored at Ralph's (Ralph's Algarve Life and Nature Channel), then drive to Barcelona where I would stay the night.
I definitely had no idea how far that was and my day started at 0400 that morning to fly to Lisbon.
I end my 1st day in a random village called Carmona. I booked the closest hotel at 10:30pm that night and had no idea where I was. All I knew was it was not safe to drive and I needed some rest.
I am an American surfer who moved from Hawaii to Europe temporarily to explore the backroads of Europe and surf every break. To do this I bought a Land Rover Defender as most of the time it is about the journey more than the destination.
This channel is all about balancing career, finance, and living life to the fullest. If done correctly, you should not have to sacrifice one for the other.
