I've been using the base model M2 Air since launch. I've loved it. I saw the deal on the M4 Pro and that was the first time I was tempted to upgrade. It really was a great deal!
I live in Australia, so these prices are going to be in Aussie Dollars $ I have a Mac mini M2 Pro but I needed something more portable as I'm travelling heaps at the end of this year and most of 2025. I ordered an Air M3 specced out to the max, 24gb/2tb ssd, at that time it was A$3599, a few days later when they released the M4, I checked out the prices, the M4 base model, with 24gtb/2tb was only A$100 more ... a no brainer ... a better screen, more ports, etc. I'm a graphic designer (now retired) and do a little work here and there, I don't need the M4 Pro for my work. I tend to upgrade every 2 years and give my old equipment to friends or family who need a new computer. BTW ... I also have the same shell-case but in black, a great investment. I can't recommend Setapp enough, I've been a CleanMyMac user since 2012 and when Setapp was introduced I switched to a complete plan, worth every cent.
Do you ever connect your MacBook to a larger monitor? If so what do you recommend? I've seen good reviews on the new Benq- M series. Since you have a 14" MacBook Pro, if you were also going to get an iPad pro would you get the 11" or 13"? Thanks for your video.
All MacBooks with M-Processor are able to be used with 4k and over 120 Hz displays. (M1 Airs are also able to do it). Don't buy a display or a dock with less than 120 Hz - because that is not smooth enough and you already have paid for the option to use over 120 Hz for a external monitor. Beware of "false" 4k Monitors with only 1440p. My recommondation: 32" monitor with real 4k and over 120 Hz for a good quality + big screen (around 135 ppi). 27" 4k snd over 120 Hz for a nearly perfect image (around 160 ppi). Have a nice Christmas ❤
I got my M4 Pro MacBook Pro Base Model this past week and trading in my M2 15 inch air and I absolutely loved it! Cause i paid more to upgrade 24gb ram on the MacBook Air, it was better just to do the trade in and get the Base M4 Pro since it already has 24gb ram and 512 SSD since I have multiple external storage drives and with the trade in I actually would only spend 1000-1100 after the trade in gets accepted which it will since I always take care of my tech
Thanks for the video Marina, I made basically the same switch and also feel basically the same about it. But I went for the M4 Pro base model chip: Not exactly because I need the power right now - despite some tasks I do will be faster (but the M4 and even the M3 are so fast already that the few seconds I save aren't exactly worth it) - but because it was only 1900€ on Black Friday and the 16Gb/512Gb M4 model was only 200€ less; I thought for only 200€ more it's worth it to get the Pro chip and 8Gb more uRam and two fans and TB5 yadayada.. The only thing that bugs me a bit is the "vignetting-effect" of the Pro MacBooks with Mini-LED-Backlight, which the Air doesn't have. I mean the display is noticeably better in every other spec and of course the whole overall-experience is better too, but the Air didn't/doesn't have this darkening around the edges like the Pro does (gifted the Air to my Mam and Dad). I hope I get used to this soon. PS: May I express my admiration for your captivating appearance in this video. Your lips radiate a mesmerizing glow reminiscent of moonlight reflecting off the ocean's surface; that's an awesome lip-gloss right there. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.
Marina I don’t usually do reviews but really a very well done here, I enjoy your reviews as you actually show the product being reviewed in addition to doing the review. It never ceases to amaze and hugely frustrate me how so few TH-cam tech reviewers have figured out that when we click on a review of product X we actually want to see the product and not spend 99.99% of the video looking at their faces. The rule seems to be the more the TH-camr looks like a goblin the more they want to have a zoomed in closeup shot of their face talking shit! Here you have you who is actually beautiful and can get away with just showing your face and nothing else but you actually show us the product (great job), but I guarantee you the next tech reviewer I click on by some Gremlin look-a-like it’s going to be 99% face and 1% product, it’s a strange phenomena!
To be honest, I would never switch back to a heavier model with a fan from a MacBook Air. Therefore, I'll wait for the upgrade of the MacBook Air models.😊

You cited all the reasons I switched from the MBA 15 to an MBP 14 (in my case, the M3 Pro MBP). Simply put, the MBP is a better fit for my use case.

I just purchased the BenQ MA270U 27-Inch for this very purpose. I did a lot of research and this seems to be the best 4K display for a Mac laptop.

Take that case off, they damage the screen overtime. Proven by many on here. I love my MBP Max m3 😭

The difference between the MBP and 15-Inch MBA is one-tenth of a pound. 3.4 lbs. vs 3.3 lbs.
yeah, but Air is thinner and has significantly bigger screen (14.2 vs 15.3 inches) and it feels SO MUCH LIGHTER than MBP 14.
