George Michael had one of the greatest voices this world has ever seen. A lot of women had their hearts broken when they found out he was gay. He was one of the biggest heartthrobs of the '80s.
That sax riff was used in various romantic scenes in movies. This song is a classic.

He was Michael Jackson’s biggest rival at the tail end of the 80s. He ranked with Madonna, Prince and MJ. Then decided he didn’t want that level of mega stardom. While his career in the USA stalled because he stopped promoting and touring - in Europe, Asia and the rest of the world he remained one of the biggest superstars till his death.
He was really reclusive - only releasing an album every 5/6 years. He only released 5 studio albums in a career spanning 30+ years (he started off in a group called Wham! Which was the most successful 80s pop group).
Even with such little output he still sold over 100+ million records, making him one of the best selling artists of all time.
Had he not decided to reduce his stardom and released as many records as his peers (Whitney, Janet, Madonna, Prince), his sales would have shot passed 200 million.
He has loads of billboard number ones - but check out his duet with Whitney in the early 2000s.

The song is inspired by a story the singer experienced when he was sixteen. While he was in a relationship with a girl named Helen Talkin, he was also in a second relationship with a woman named Jane. In Careless Whisper, George Michael imagines that Helen is aware of his infidelity, even though she has never actually known about it.
At this time and till 1991, he was bisexual, not gay or straight! When he met his lover Anselmo,he knew he was really gay!
