if you can't find a lemon a half filled plastic bottle will do.
This song gives me so much life!
This song has such a resonating effect on me! I agree 1000%! 🙌🏼
No one plays the lemon like Jonny
Wanna know why?he wakes up yesterday and keeps sucking them just like thom taught him 20 years ago

One of the greatest composers on earth playing lemon, his brother playing... a bottle? Ed playing tambourine, and the result is the best song of this century.

That falsetto is unreal
i miss my falsetto, too many smokes i guess.
The best! So good. 💜
His falsetto is incredibly pure in this live recording - just superb. I still remember that Thom said that Jeff Buckley gave him the confidence to sing falsetto. That makes me incredibly happy. And sad too, because Jeff had only released one album and was working on the second when he died.
like ripples on a blank shore 😌
@@eurydicebarzane yep, Jeff Buckley was the driving force behind the music of radiohead and coldplay.
This was the first song the love of my life shared with me. Gorgeous, haunting, it filled my soul. Everything beautiful became a “Reckoner” for us.
He passed away suddenly and this haunting song embodies everything I feel.
Ronan, you will forever be “Reckoner” in my soul.

Thank you Radiohead for the great gift of this most heavenly song

Everyone gets that Coldplay were influenced by Radiohead but the comparison is annoying and obvious at this point, and for me it undermines the talent displayed in their early music. And anyways, you can hear other influences such as U2 and Pink Floyd. just let people enjoy the records, music is all subjective
I don't have a witty remark about lemons. Just wanted to say that this song is one of my favorites. It's celestial.
That is a great word to describe this song
Roger that! Same same
Don't worry, no one else had any witty remarks either.

Celestial is the perfect word for his voice in this song. It sounds out of this world and I love it!

I will never stop loving how groovy the bassline coming back in 3:31
Its like Colin just smoothly walked in and complements the entire song.
He's all "Watch this"
@@ripelivejam yeah haha you see him getting ready for that bass a few seconds before
i love how the bass comes in at 4:15 also, you can tell they all know how good they sound lol
the moments at 3:31 and 4:15 are probably my most replayed in the whole video lol
Me too always dug that.....boom boom boom
2:50 phil: mimes cymbal hit for 30 seconds before the drums come back in to make sure he's perfectly in sync with thom
3:12 ed: casually grabs the tambo 2 seconds before he has to start playing again
It's on record, from the horse's mouth, that John Frusciante inspired Thom Yorke's guitar parts for this one, and that makes me super-happy 😊
Me too
John who?
@@rinnin FROOSH! On-and-off guitar slinger for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who was at least partially responsible for most of their best work. John Frusciante, and his solo career is just absolutely bonkers.
Just watched the interview specifically scar tissue. thats why im here and i can definitely hear the resemblance this is a good song happy i came here
Now that you mention it...I can't unhear it 😀
it’s always crazy to me how good thom is as a musician in addition to being a fantastic vocalist. like he doesn’t need to be that good at guitar the band has two other guitarists but he still plays rhythm guitar on almost all the songs lmao
The riff he plays is really beautiful too, one of his best I think. I read somewhere that it was inspired by John Frusciante, although I'm not sure whether it's true or not.
I think it just comes out of writing, when you write a riff, it's kinda hard to have someone else play it with the exact same feel, they almost always do something to it.
Would love to see Thom and John play together someday
Yeah and how about on the drums when they played bangers and mash
Also an amazing songwriter
3:58 Phil and Collin do be feeling their music. This means putting passion into your work... and you can definetely notice it
Colin is such a Radiohead fan.
*Ed
@eliseo Yes, one of the all time greats! In terms of compositional playing, i'd say he's the best ever. His lines are so intricate yet so groovy, so complex yet so simple to understand. Especially this album is where he shined the brightest i think. He makes the bass an integral part of the music, instead of merely holding up its structure with root notes.
Radiohead is my safety net from depression and life's failures
and successes....

This song always reminds me of my black lab that died 5 years ago... she always wanted me to take her with me everywhere. She danced, knew scores of tricks, took me to the bus stop as a child each morning until I got on and would go home. She loved all humans. This song used to make me cry out of sadness, but now it lets me remember all of the good memories I had with Molly. It’s bittersweet.

Es de esas rolas perronas a las que siempre vuelves y dices, madres, que buen momento para tener oídos.
This song is a perfect example of Phil's importance to the Radiohead sound. They can be surprisingly funky under all that gloom.
I'll never forget this song, I danced to this song in a ballet theatre and I got so emotional, I stopped dancing and started crying, the whole crowd went awww and I ran off the stage, I'll never forget this song and that day😭😞
Such a brilliant and perfect band. Thom pretty much leading guitar throughout the song whilst holding down the incredible vocals. Ed and Colin performing percussion and backing rhythms and base when needed. Johnny with his lemon and synthesiser along with Phil's incredible drums. Altogether a group of legends in our lifetime.
It's weird how much your music helps to deal with anxiety and depression:) Thank you
Hello, how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here.
Thom sounds like an angel 😇
True dat
Radiohead - making lockdown haircuts stylish for decades...
I didn't know that the whole band was playing percussions on the first verse before I saw this. Thom's guitar is the only one filling the harmony (except vocal), yet the guitar's dense texture fills up the whole space. Mesmerizing songwriting.
I am actually late to the radiohead party I only discover how good they are in 2017 when this song is one of the songs in a Spotify playlist for testing your headphones. I was literally mind blowned and been listening to all there albums ever since. If you have a good quality headphones it really does make a difference, sometimes I can't believe how they recorded and master some of the tracks. I have been buying decent audio gear because of radiohead for few years now. Haha
I discovered them a month ago guess I'm more late but hey better late than never
The production in IR in particular is just unbelievably great. Best sounding album I know. Nigel FTW
Only u discover Radiohead, other bands just doesn’t seem that good, really. Not sure if that’s good or bad.
I just realized that 4/5 people are playing percussion on this. Phil's on drums, Ed is on tambourine, and the Greenwood bros are playing lemon and bottle (maracas).
Yet, you wouldn't really think of Reckoner as a percussion-heavy song.
Das some subtle songcraft right there, ladice and germs.
Phil's cymbals at beginning and end as well as all percussion is what I love most, especially on album track. Surprised no one comments but you are right. Seamless
I’d personally consider this a pretty percussion heavy song IMO (that’s just me, but I totally see your point!!) the fact that so many of them discard their guitars in order to play shakers and tambourines shows that there’s no egos in this band. It’s all about doing what needs to be done in order to make the music great. This is such a beautiful moment
Ummm you for got the bass !!!
this is a percussion heavy song what are you on about?
I also think that Jonny chooses to play guitar sound with his Keyboard so it resembles percussion.
i always just sit and wait for Ed's backing vocals...they send me to another place everytime x
What backing vocals? They're called "EEEEEEEDs"

I love how this video shows that even on the more simplistic songs that don’t necessarily require 5 members, all the band members still make a contribution, really shows how well they work together

I like this version much better than the original because of johnny playing the piano at the end. It works so much better for me then the string in the original. Plus, the melody is much better
