@@rezaruki3912 The female companions are just objectively better and Cait & female SS are the perfect duo if you wanna be a sarcastic jerk, extort the largest reward possible out of every side quest, and be a "shoot first, ask questions never" angered mama bear tearing up the Commonwealth to find and rescue her cub. (Which is why I downloaded a custom Yao Guai companion that works like Dogmeat was originally intended to as a sort of secondary companion - if I'm an angry mama bear I should get a real bear to help me!)
If you have him unassigned and living in a settlement, he can be assigned a job like any other settler. That includes running store stalls, defense, food, or anything else that requires assigning a settler for it to function.
