  • This easy to make clam shell dish will add a perfect touch to your beach home decor. Make them yourself or order them from my store. They look cute and would make a perfect Christmas present or Secret Santa gift, unique Mother's day gift, Birthday or Valentine's day gift. Need a ring dish for your beach wedding? A clam shell like this would be just perfect for that!
    HOW TO MAKE IT INSTRUCTIONS:
All you need is a sea shell, paper napkins, paint, glue and paintbrushes. You can use a clam shells or an oyster shells. If you don't live by the beach you can purchase shells from amazon or even on Etsy.
    - First paint the inside of the shell white. Wait for the paint to dry before you proceed with the next step.
    - You will need a decorative paper napkin. Any design you like will do. Make sure to only use the top ply of the napkin.
    - Glue the napkin on with Mod Podge but be carful because the napkin can easily tear. Apply the 2nd coat of the Mod Podge on the top over the napkin and wait for it to dry.
    - Remove the excess napkin and sand the edges.
    - Paint the edges and the back of the shell. Metallic paint looks the best (I think).

It is BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for sharing how to do this. Do you allow it to dry before removing the edges and sanding?

Yes, I wait until it dries before sanding. You can carefully peel off the access while wet but definitely wait for it to dry before sanding.

Hi there! Awesome tutorial. May I ask what brand of gold paint that is? I love how fluid it looks. 💛✨

I am using Folkart but any acrylic metallic paint will work.

Hi :) I added the list of materials in the description. I buy napkins all the time I see something I like. The exact once are hard to find but some of them are on Amazon. I listed a few of my favorites. They have a lot of different designs. I am sure you can find some you love.

Where do you buy the art transfer?

Those are just regular napkins. I always look out for designs I like and just buy them randomly. You can find pretty napkins on Amazon, Homegoods or Marshall’s

Can you use scrapbook paper on shells?

I wouldn’t. It’s just too thick. But you can always try. If it doesn’t work out just soak it in water to remove the paper from the shell and start over again.
