@@philiplewis7252 Oh they’re great balers Philip and still a few along with the older 120/124/128s still working well in the area. Would be a popular baler when they were new alongside the International balers which again there’s still quite a few working. Can’t beat hay time, great to see the tradition being kept alive in the fields. Many thanks for the kind words Philip and taking the time to comment. Cheers, David.
Great rural scene of the best time of year, harvest time, the 3070 looks great, the massey baler is eating up those decent rows, very nice video David, cheers Steve . 👍🚜
I remember stacking the same way David, 21s for the bale squezzer to come and pick the stack up. Remember it had to go my uncles Fordson Super Major because it used to make the front wheels of the 35x lift off the ground! Thanks as always David, cheers Dave
@@davidprentice7861 And me too David as I’ve lots of happy memories of those years gone by and being able to get out and film the great machinery round Cumbria reminds me of those happy days. That would be great to meet up and have a crack as I’m sure we’d both enjoy that. Hopefully that might happen sometime in the future. Always good to hear from you my friend, cheers, David.
Good afternoon David on this fine day. Now that was a sweet haymaking video, with that excellent MF 3070 looking right at home. It sure was packing what looked like a pretty heavy crop judging by the full pick up reel and number of strokes to a bale from that equally excellent MF 244 baler. Would be interesting to see this same footage in black & white to give it an even more aged look. The only slight give away of age was a little bit of rust on the front weights, otherwise a quick wash and you could take her to a tractor show. I have only ever operated a Merlo once (Cant remember the model but was construction spec) and found it a very good piece of kit. Never had the pleasure of operating a JCB Fastrac but that 2140 also looked very tidy too. Watching the baler and the stour coming from the nice dry crop, reminded me of being on a diamond sledge stacking bales and not being able to see for dust and also doing my best to stay on the thing especially when the tractor would lurch on a gear change, but hey, those were the days. Hope you have had a good week David and thanks for the video. Cheers, Fraser.
@@frasermathers2287 And a good afternoon to you too Fraser from a sunny Cumbria (although you couldn’t say that about it yesterday!) Oh that MF 3070 is a beauty, still very stylish after all these years. I remember a farmer friend bought a brand new 2wd MF 3060 in about 1990 (god I was still in my 20s then!) and I thought now that is a smart tractor and I still admire the styling on the 3000 series today which in my opinion was way ahead of its time. Yes a dry, heavy crop but the MF 244 baler coped well and didn’t miss a beat ! Umm, black & white, you’ve given me an idea there (you’ll probably be after commission now for coming up with the idea 🤣🤣), I sometimes convert my still photos to b&w and it gives them a nice effect and as you say that very slight surface rust on the weights lets you know the 3070 is over 30 years old but that might win it top prize in the originality section! I’ve neither operated a Merlo telehandler or a Fastrac (we have a JCB Loadall and Volvo loading shovels at work) but they seem very good machines as their popularity proves. It was a very dry and dusty crop, I can imagine the dust sticking to a sweaty Fraser too back in the day but that day was perfect hay making weather, I was very busy running around everywhere and have one more video from the day that hopefully you’ll enjoy to post. It’s been a busy week at work Fraser, 60 hours by the end of today with my one Saturday of the month half shift tomorrow so I’ll be ready for a rest over the rest of the weekend because it’ll soon be Monday again! Take care my friend, hope you have a great weekend too and I’ll speak to you soon. Cheers, David.
@@davidwinthrop7077 Come on David, what do you mean probably be after commission, as a Scotsman, I definitely will be 🤣. Yeah I was not a pretty sight after a days baling and at 12y/o, I was not wise enough to realise that everyone else (intentionally)skipped out saying they could not keep up, but I would keep up. I think you deserve your time off David. Cheers, Fraser.
@@frasermathers2287 I’m ready for it Fraser but knowing the better half she’ll have a few jobs for me to fill my time in while she’s at work on Sunday! I don’t mind though because it keeps the peace! 😀
@@michaelbambed7260 Thanks Michael, no bad thing if it’s running a little bit slower, I never complained when I was younger and had to keep up stacking behind before my uncle got a bale sledge! You’re right with the wheel diameter definitely a 38 rim but they’ve been upgraded to 540/65s with the 10.00x16 fronts. Looks the part on them though. Cheers, David.
The 3070 is an absolute diamond, clearly someone who takes immense pride in their work and kit.

Definitely and a lovely tractor (and baler) to be proud of owning.
Great video. We also have a Massey 224 baler, and it is a superb machine! Congratulations on your harvest. Very best wishes.
