- Paper scraps can be overwhelming. This is part one in a Special Sunday Mini-series on How I deal with Paper Scraps. I include how I wrangle up my scraps to keep them under control, and ideas for scrap patterns to use them up. Let's face it - paper is expensive and scraps are too. So, instead of tossing them in the bin, why not make some cute cards? Come on in and let me show you how!!

What is paper tole? YES! I definitely would like to see more cards from scraps, please.
The best way I know to describe paper tole is to give you a link to some from paperwishes.com They have some that coordinate with their paper lines. @@SeniorSusieStamps AHA! I started out oil painting with tole painting many years ago. Same type of thing. We just undercoated whatever we were going to paint and thinned the oil paints. Loved it. went from there to miniature oil painting and adored it. I love tiny things--had teensy frames and easels that I dressed up to look like the real thing. I'm surprised that it didn't click in when I saw the tole on your video...

Hi Julia. What a useful video using up all your scrap paper of various sizes. I loved all the cards that you made today as well as the others that you showed us. The recipients of these cards would never know you were using up your scrap paper! 😊
The one inch squares you could make a card using a patchwork technique... I think that would be cute!
I made a patchwork card using hexagons, and I blended distress ink around each of the hexagons before securing them down on the card base to give the card more depth. It was a truly stunning card, and also a wonderful way to use up small colour co-ordinated pieces of paper.

Hello My Crafty Friend! I hope you are having a good week. Funny that you mention Hexagons - I had that punch in my hand yesterday to start thinking about a quilt card for next Sunday's video. I like your idea of blending color around to give more depth. I also like to emboss to give texture. You will probably see some of those in future LOL. Most of these cards will be given as gifts or sent as part of a donation to seniors locally. Blessings to you!

@@gregsgirl23au In my studio I have 1 rule that trumps all others - Use Scraps First - And in order to do that I have to be able to find them. I tried keeping them separate sorted by color but it just doesn't work for me. So I put them in a heavy duty sheet protector and keep them in with the original paper pack. That way when I reach for a paper pack the scraps are right there and I have trained myself to look through them first. This includes all paper - colored card stock as well as DSP - except white paper scraps. I keep the white paper scraps on my craft desk - and I am running low! It can be seductive to cut a whole sheet of paper, but I find the challenge of using up scraps to be very satisfying! I haven't made a video specifically to this point, but it gets mentioned A LOT!🤣😂🤣 Hope this helps, Julia

Terrie - You can do it! The starting point is sometimes the problem. Don't overthink it when you are using scraps! And don't be afraid to add more - remember you can always recycle a fail and keep on moving through the process!

I use thicker cardstock to raise panels too. Foam tape seems so thick
I use it all in different applications. But white thick cardstock scraps are wonderful for raising all kinds of things! Yay You!!
Dollar tree had metallic musical instruments stickers. Haven’t figured out how to us3 them yet!
Hi Jane - I saw those too! What about a musical score embossing folder for the background? Perhaps with some ink drag across to tone down the paper, along with some ink blending on the edge to distress?! That's what I thought about when I saw them...
