You really need to watch the iconic live performances to truly appreciate the supremes, and how ground breaking they were

Funny that Diana Ross is pictured there as "the tall one," when she's like 5' 4".
This song was super iconic among their hits, if it makes sense to say that. In the performance, they'd hold their arms up, palms out, to signal "Stop!" Today, that would be a meme.

They were very young. They started in their late teens. And Diana Ross has that iconic high, baby voice. Diana Ross was a member of the Supremes from the beginning, and later on the name was changed to Diana Ross and the Supremes. She later left the group for a solo career, and the Supremes got a new lead singer, and they continued on for a few more years.

I would be shocked if your mother did not know this song. I was only five when it came out, but Diana Ross & The Supremes were iconic.

They were the Supremes but Diana Ross became the main attraction. Thats why it's they became Diana Ross and the Supremes. After Diana left for her solo career, they added a new member and became The Supremes again.

This was on the first album I bought with my own money. Well, one of two. When I was twelve, I took my babysitting money and bought More Hits by The Supremes, and Look At Us Sonny & Cher. I was 12, still have them.

Learn about Motown Records, the iconic record label that started in Detroit and was responsible for much of the soundtrack of my youth and all young people who had the privilege of growing up in the '60s. As for the instrumentation, it was provided by the house band at Motown Records, who played the backing tracks for ALL the Motown artists. The band became known as "The Funk Brothers," and they played on more #1 hits than the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys and Elvis Presley COMBINED!!! Watch the documentary all about them called "Standing In the Shadows of Motown" (a take-off on the title of the Four Tops' hit "Standing In the Shadows of Love"). The Supremes ran off a string of #1 hits from about 1964 thru 1970 when Diana Ross left the group that made them the #1 female group of all time. I'm not sure their record for sustained populary by a girl group has ever been eclipsed. There are tons of documentaries about Motown Records. But suffice it to say, they were a HUGE force. The label's founder, Barry Gordy, is probably as responsible as anyone for enabling black artists to enter millions of white Americans' homes, having packaged packaged his stable of artists with choreographed dance moves and making them appear glamourous and "safe" at a time when that was revolutionary, right at the time of the Civil Rights movement of the '60s, making Motown's contribution to society especially profound. So many Motown artists. Check out Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, the Temptations, the Four Tops, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight and the Pips, the Jackson 5, and I'm sure I'm leaving some others out. The most important record label for black artists in history.

Diana Ross is also the real mother of Tracy Eillis Ross or Bo ( the mother on the Show Blackish)

A great idea you should listen to a little eva LOCOMOTION (60s) then Grandfunk railroad LOCOMOTION (70S) Kylie minogue LOCOMOTION (80S) SAME SONG song three different ways, in three different decades. Afterwards you can decide which one you like best.

This song was recorded by THE SUPREMES as they were known then and now. Please knock off the Diane Ross revisionist history. They were NOT sisters. The SUPREMES still hold the record, with 12 number 1 records, as the most successful American vocal group in musical history (second only to The Beatles). This recording was released in 1965. The name was changed briefly to "Diana Ross and The Supremes" some years later to prepare the public for Diane's solo career. In 1965, there was no concept of a "Diane Ross" except as one of THE MIGHTY SUPREMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You should be talking about them as the legendary, history making trio that they were and not as a "Diane Ross" act! I know that you are young; however, please do a little research before you post these videos and please..........get your facts straight! It is irritating!
