Very good points! "The Law of Attraction" was controversial from the start, and not without a reason. Good to keep this mindset that anything is possible, yet waiting with crossed arms for anything to happen will not help in anything. People like Oprah are very good with self-management and that's their secret for success - not fairy tales like "The Secret." The culture of positivity is toxic too; many entrepreneurs are depressed for this exact reason: they need to play it cool not matter what even if their finances are tragic and competition is killing them. In business it's even worse than in academia.
It seems to me that most career advice is trash. Having a happy and successful worklife largely seems to be a matter of luck, imho. But then again, I hate all work.

Agree with you. Every advice that one gives is based on the experiences of that individual. So, it tends to vary from person to person.
