This song was amazing live.. I saw them in Seattle, I have their concert recording of this song, only all of the lyrics are sung in English.. One of the purest songs written, gives me chills.
We are starlight, made from the dust of dead stars. Lingering between darkness and darkness We hang. The crucified ones We hang searching for light in others some times the light is blazing Such times are rare, most times the world is shattered by this mirror such are the distances bewteen us; except a note, a midnight, soft, full moon note. One beautiful song brings us home.
The stars you see in the night sky Have been dead for centuries And sunlight creates the illusion Of life for all these years Now i no longer trust these eyes of mine The heart must speak to me In tongues of forgotten voices In cosmic energy So that i can see The heavens are merely illusions When you build them high in the sky And hell is the final solution For man and his seed design And the chance of life And the more that i see The more life means to me
This is my favourite video for Crescent, hope it will stay on youtube forever - I added it to my playlist some two years ago, makes winters easier to cope with :)
Yeah, I was looking at their website and they have the best of the North American tour cd where this song is also there. I have downloaded a few song from those cd's but I want the actual cd. I saw them in New York during that tour--it was amazing!! Although I really enjoyed their 'Spirit Chaser' tour in 1996--wow!!
Farewell Starman~ David Jones Bowie dug DCD I'd bet He left us today with all his energy, this chameleon of versatility & illusive truth, poet performer, elusive charm, labyrinth king starman beyond ziggy, man from mars ~ recognition, may all our love be with you!
This song can only be found on the CD copies from their live concerts. I have the live concert from Seattle where I saw them in 2005 this song is on it but Brendan changes the lyrics a bit on the version I have. This song is weepingly beautiful I can see why you would want it. There are also other rare songs on the concert CD's like Lisa Gerrard singing this haunting lullaby to the audience as the last song of the concert.
How weirdly the black birds on the rooftop walk compared to the white ones . . . did anyone else notice? Bleak footage goes with the mood of the music, somehow. Good job!
I love birds, and I think your video is great, it goes so well with the music too. I also really like the way you've made the cars go backwards during the traffic clip, adds an interesting dimension to the film.
It wasn't released on an album. They only performed it live, on their 2005 reunion tour. There are lots of recordings of the tour that will have it. Also, Brendan Perry (who was one half of Dead Can Dance) will be releasing an album later this year, called Ark, which will include this song
My brother has been playing the Yangqin for over 30 years. If this is the same instrument used on their many tours, then it's definitely not a Yangqin. It looks like either a European or middle eastern version. All are called hammer dulcimers though, and yes from the same family.
In the chime of silence of your love Can't feel in my love And i need love in my life Can't feel it in you And i need love in my, i see life Can't feel it in you
This is the original from 'selections from europe' (limited edition) by DCD: th-cam.com/video/YidtAo6mRuM/w-d-xo.html The best version imo. I never heard this one, also its not on 'Ark' by Brendon Perry (still another version on 'Ark'). Sounds very similar to the original.
Dead Can Dance makes sadness beautiful and and alive, if that is at all possible. Check out The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove. Appreciated by old school goths, world music lovers, and exotic strippers everywhere. Lol!!!
I'm pretty sure you're alone in that one.....But if they did, how would we call the music??? Dead-can-Metal??? (somewhere between doom-metal and black-metal???) LOL
Last 9 years ...when i need to feel my self free and relax I came here ..
Thank you

2021 i am still alive and here
Pure art, so amazing !!!

I love both the Video and the Song. They match somehow. I apprecate it. Good show
This is my favourite video for Crescent, hope it will stay on youtube forever - I added it to my playlist some two years ago, makes winters easier to cope with :)
I was just talking about this prodigious music and the great feeling being raised with it. Everything else is less important my dear friend.
Brendan's voice is haunted!
May the light be with you! Looking forward to seeing you.
I saw the 1996 show as well and yes that was so amazing the musicians were astounding and so full of life.
I love stuff like this. Its so simple yet so awesome!
Great musician indeed beautiful song..
This is absolutely one of the coolest videos on TH-cam.

wowza! the song is....
and the accompanying video makes for a well-matched marriage. One of the best I've witnessed!
How many bands can be better live than recorded? I can count them on one hand. This is pure genius. :)
This is awesome. Seagulls don't get enough credit for how cool they are, especially with DCD in the background.
Farewell Starman~
David Jones Bowie dug DCD I'd bet
He left us today with all his energy, this chameleon of versatility & illusive truth, poet performer, elusive charm, labyrinth king starman beyond ziggy, man from mars ~ recognition, may all our love be with you!
İts 2019 ... and i am still here....
Just beautiful and soothing...

Got all their CDs. How did I let this beauty pass me by?
Still one of my favs by them

Świetne. Wielka szkoda, że DCD już nie grają, mogłaby powstać kolejna wspaniała płyta z ich nowych, koncertowych utworów plus jeszcze kilka.
just beautiful...
Thanks for posting this song!!
Haunting... Simply beautiful.
I love this song!
One of the song composed when the reunion arrived. Than this song was professional recorded for the new release of Brendan Perry 2010 cd ARK.
There is a studio version of this song on Brendan Perry's 'Ark' album. This song is indescribable. There are many emotions.
Really great; thanks for sharing!

excellent!
Legend klip. Legend song..

Perfect sound!

Good to hear that someone likes the video too :-D (not only the song)

Well, we all know that there is "music", and then there's Dead Can Dance: beyond classification!!
how i couldnt know it?
marvelous!
Sorry to reply to a 2 year old post, but it has to be said - They really really are awesome live - They take their sound very seriously!
Just came from Brendan Perry's live in athens...I hope brendan and liza reunite their inspirations and visit as for a night we'll always remember..
It's a style of music called Ethereal, you can check out outher groups in the same style:
Cocteau Twins, and Lycia.
Piercing, riveting..........!
Beautyfull
you will never hear this beauty on TV...we live in a fucked up world
I'm here again after 14 years , man time is flying
Yeah, just one of those bands that make music that really feels important! Another band in a similar vein you should check out is World Of Skin.

Have you heard of Brendan Perry's solo work? This song is included in the album 'Ark'. The studio version is wonderful.
I've heard about Cocteau Twins. I'll se that Spotifier have 2 albums from Lycia (Estrella/Empty Space). I'll check it out. Thanks for the tips :-)

They remind me a little of VAST.
FREAK`S MY SOUL
The music is not from DCD but from Brian Perry's solo album "Ark".
song was recorded by DCD, however Brendon included it on Ark because it was ready at the time, and its Brendan not Brian
+Janus Kristijan It's a Hammered Dulcimer
+Adélaïde Hajovic who's Brian Perry? Brendan Perry!
no,it's not a hammered dulcimer, its a yangqin ( the same family instrument but from china)
My brother has been playing the Yangqin for over 30 years. If this is the same instrument used on their many tours, then it's definitely not a Yangqin. It looks like either a European or middle eastern version. All are called hammer dulcimers though, and yes from the same family.
@GreySunday29
It's on Brendan Perry's latest CD, but this version is better. :)
Brendan Perry - best male voice. Lisa Gerrard - best female voice. Are you agree? Because I do:)
In the chime of silence of your love
Can't feel in my love
And i need love in my life
Can't feel it in you
And i need love in my, i see life
Can't feel it in you
European Tour 2005 - Disc 1 (live) :-)
If you find out let me know! Perhaps it's on their boxed set?
Burkay'a selam.
I think it is from one of their last live concert (maybe 2005). I not really sure which cd or if it is available :-)
2023 1:05

Esta música es tan hermosa, que parece que no es real!!!!
This is the original from 'selections from europe' (limited edition) by DCD:
th-cam.com/video/YidtAo6mRuM/w-d-xo.html
The best version imo. I never heard this one, also its not on 'Ark' by Brendon Perry (still another version on 'Ark'). Sounds very similar to the original.

It appears to be an unreleased song by Dead Can Dance, but you can find the same song on Brendan Perry's 'Ark' album.
It is from a live cd :-)
