Thanks a lot! :-) I got the Mamut grips, and I'm pretty sure you can the the lanyards off the controller (I did) and feed it thought the grips the other way in order to get the fastener on the other (correct) side. ^ This. I was struggling for ages to try and get the lanyard tightener through the grip, then was like 'duuhhhh' when I remembered I could unclip the lanyard from the controller by removing the batter cover, and feed it through the grip backwards before re-attaching the lanyard to the controller.

The good foam VR cover isn't available. Please find a compatible (including tutorial install) replacement! For example; I am using a different VR case which was $10 (USD) cheaper than the one made for quest but more than twice the space.
I get VRCovers for every headset I've bought. I consider them necessary. I've been waiting for the MamutVR grips to come in stock because they add enough space for my hands to properly hold the controllers without my pinky finger falling off. I'm not sure if I want to go with a magnetic USB cable since USB-C can handle a LOT of plug/unplug events. And thankfully I've got a ton of microfiber cloths laying around.
I'm planning to get the Mamut grips at some point. Right now I'm getting by with hockey tape wrapped around my controllers, which helps with grip, and stops the battery covers from flying off.
Hi! Thanks for the video. The Mamut grips are not for people with big hands like me. When I used it my finger couldn’t reach the trigger because it was too tight on my hand. Loosened it all the way and it still didn’t work. Oh well, just a head’s up in case there are other viewers like me.
Got the vr covers coming and i do think they are a must have. Also i removed the head strap and replaced it with the vive upgrade head strap and its great.
Hey, I can fix the issue for the Mamut grips. Sorry I'm a bit late to this video, but if you remove the lanyard from the controller, slide the little plastic tightening piece all the way to the end (max tightness) then put the other end through the grip, reinstall it, then finish putting on the grip you can then tighten the lanyard with the grips on. I love mine.
Def going to the eye doc to get my prescription updated. Then I am totally getting the lenses because glasses in VR are SO ANNOYING! Thanks for the info. I'll prob be getting the grips too.
I got the vr cover replacement foam and it makes a huge difference to comfort. It’s a bit of a shame the quality of the plastic that the foam attaches to is a bit crap and doesn’t fit nearly as nicely as the original. I think the main issue is they don’t clip at the sides like the original and is only held in by the two clips at the top so it flops around a bit. It doesn’t matter too much once on but wearing glasses with it you have to be careful putting on and off
the lanyard thing was operator error.... just slide the plastic piece all the way down to the bottom of the loop, poke the "string" end go the lanyard into the Mamut and attach to the controller, then slide it on and slide the plastic piece back towards the base.
a lens cleaning pen is a great tool too. cleans the lens with carbon so it removes oil better than a cloth and so reduces the slight haze that can build up on the lens from oils. but also they come with an adjustable stiffness brush on the other end which is perfect for removing dust and things caught on the matherial around the lenses.
We know. :( Seems like every Quest accessory manufacturer is having trouble meeting demands. I'm sure they are all working hard to get stock prepared again though!
I got an Anker Powercore 10,000 a lot of people recommended it and it’s been working really well for my quest. It charges it to full twice. It’s around 40$ on Amazon.
Michael Scarn yea I orders mine on June 15 as a bday present for me and it was supposed to arrive tomorrow but then it got delayed another 2 and a half weeks and I just gave up and cancels the order I don’t think the quest was worth the waiting time and I have never used vr so I’m not sure if I would have even liked it or not
Is there any reason you can't feed the lanyard through from the outside in, or reverse? I would think the nub that connects to the controller might fit through the lanyard hole. Just slide the sqaure bit to the other end and feed the lanyard in from the attach side. If that makes sense. If the lanyard hole is not big enough for the connector nub then that will not work either.
Actually didn't think to take out the lanyard and feed it in reverse. A comment told us to do it and we just did, that works and we feel a bit dumb for not thinking about it! Sorry for the confusion!
I found the instructions with the Mammut grips to be lacking... Mine don't let you take them off without undoing the shoe laces... Can you talk a little more about how to properly set them up? -- I was able to get the little square nub through with a pair of tweezers, fyi. Also you can just pull the square off and then reattach it after you slide it through,you definitely need tweezers though.

@@CasandChary awesome... But it's not clear how you got it so that you can change the battery without removing the shoe laces... Did you do something different in that regard? In my instructions it had me slip the shoe laces around the ring of the controller (and it comes loose if I don't). 🤔
I just make the shoelaces a bit looser to make space for the grip to become loose. The shoelaces stay put, if you look at 5:33, that's what I do. I hope it clears it up or else I can try shoot a short vid for you.
@@CasandChary ohhh I see what's different. Your snappy thing (at the bottom)... I think it's out of place? I think it's supposed to fit between the two plastic ribs at the bottom (and the shoe laces are supposed go through all three). -- but your setup might be superior. XD
I'll have to pick up that magnetic USB cable, I didn't even consider the wear and tear that may happen! Also, any tips on adjusting the quest? I can only play so long before my face hurts / feels numb from the Quest.
they did a video about a strap that goes over the top of your head ont he quest that helps lift the weight off your face a bit. would be easy enough to make your own if you know how to sew. or you can attach a battery or something as a counterweight ont h back strap that works to reduce the presusure on your face.
There are some grips that are better than the mamut grips they are AMVR grips the locks on the mamut fall of and has a little ridge that is kinda sharp not sharp but like pointy and is going to be noticed at some point using the grips
Vr cover’s item is defective! I can’t believe I waited for over month for mine to arrive just to find out that it’s defective with no nub! Now vr cover says they’ll send out at the end of August!!!!!!
While Oculus Support is mostly useless, a support tech did tell me that Oculus does not recommend playing the Quest while charging. The tech had no specific reason from Oculus as to why this was forbidden but he guessed that it would shorten the life of the battery.
Mine stops charging after reaching a certain temperature. I wouldn’t say it’s an issue but I’ve also had several people tell me the same thing. I’ve read about it as well. Maybe there’re quests out there that you can use while charging after all.
Heads up with Vr Covers. I ordered the interface set from these guys last week and received notification that they now have supplier issues and all orders are delayed .... Argh !

I would love to have something to replace the need for AA batteries a la rechargeable battery packs for Xbox controllers. Batteries are a bit of a pain.
Great video girls ;) I can totaly recommend VR cover leather version and MAMUT grips - using both on my Rift for many months and they made my VR experience much more comfortable! Just a question - does the prescription lenses do any difference with Field Of View? VR Oon! ;)

or doesnt the tightener slip off the end of the strap, and you can just push it back on the strap once its through?

Those grips look pretty good just for the laces being able to fully open your hand might be checking them out just for that
I have the amvr grips with straps instead of shoelaces and like them allot. Feels very secure so I removed the original lanyard straps.

Yes! Not all batteries work tho so gotta pick one that are proven to work.

Camera lens cleaning cloths work for me.
We only wipe off the leather foam replacement and use DRY micro fiber cloth for the lenses. Don't do much else.
Dishwasher. Obviously.

With the cable? No. Haven't had an issue. Although I've had it bug out sometimes, a restart usually solves it.

Get some eneloop rechargeable batteries from Amazon. 4 pack. Use 2 when the other two are being charged. Reliable. Problem solved.

Not noticeably. The lens adapters are close enough to the actual lenses. :)
