Jerry!!!! Oh wow! I can't remember where I know you from but when I saw your face and heard your voice I smiled. I think Decatur, Ga. You were always kind.
Thanks so much for the kind words. Joan and I lived in Marietta in the 80's through early 90's. I also worked in the telecom for a long time. Also spent some time around Emory and CDC. I'm sure our paths crossed somewhere around metro Atlanta.
Man, that takes me back 45-50 years. The Assemblies of God held their summer camps for a few years at Indian Springs way back then. Pretty place. Thanks, Jerry!
Love your videos Jerry! My family is from Indian Springs and my Grandfather operated the amusement park that was there in the 60's. Truly a hidden gem in Georgia!
First mention I'd seed of the amusement park there. I was a child at that amusement park, one of my earliest childhood memories; my Daddy made an 8mm movie of it, very early 1960s, probably 61 or 62.
We live just north of there and visit frequently. Other things to do close by is Dauset Trails, maybe 4 miles away for great hiking, small zoo & farm, mountain biking and more. Maybe 20 min drive down the road is Julliett GA, home of the Fried Green Tomatoes and a great breakfast at the depot. Maybe we’ll run into ya’ll someday! Check out Hamburg State Park as well. Small but all sites are on the lake...beautiful
Always a joy to see what you share! I’d like to camp overlooking that lake. Victoria Bryant State Park, Franklin Springs, Ga. has a large creek running through it but no sulfur smell. You’re also near, Slow Water, (in season) -outfitters that help you float down a branch of the Broad River that is calm and easy. Very near town for food, etc. Watson Mill State Park, Comer Ga. is known for its wooden covered bridge and beautiful shoals- & most photographed spot in Ga. -Nice camping- Health & Happy Trails->
Love the looks of this park, just wish it was North of Atlanta, no way I'm towing through there. Another great video Jerry, I think it's a wise decision to stay closer to home during these troubling times. Thank you for the video and stay safe.
Drove through Atlanta at 10am last Thursday. Might have tapped the breaks a couple of times. With so many working at home, mid morning is a great time to slip through.
Jerry you never mentioned what the beverage of choice wasin that coolerfrom way back when. Thanks for the tour of Ga. State campgrounds. Can you sometime do a quick one on Laura Walker St. Park?
Oh Jim. Those were simple says back then. Georgia State drink probably....Coca-Cola. We need to go to Laura Walker when it warms up a little. This is a nice place.
It’s is a great park as well, don’t know if I would want to be there in the summer. We were there in late November and it was nice, we had the pull through by lake site# 10. Highly recommended!!
Fresh Air in Jackson was always a stop. Great Barbecue and stew. I don’t remember the those. Not sure when they closed. So glad you’re enjoying the channel.
We enjoy your state park reviews...excellent! I can't handle the sulfur water. I would hope the campsites would have city water??? Do you have any favorite state parks on I-85 in GA? Thank you!!!
@@iLoveRVlife Glad to hear about the non-sulfur water at the campsites. My elementary school had sulfur water. Have you ever had instant mashed potatoes made with sulfur water...yuck! Thank you for your awesome videos!
My husband and I just are getting over Covid and double pneumonia, so you've given us great entertainment while healing!! Why don't you all join us on our Channel? We'd love to have you! We sure enjoy yours! 🥰
Hi Jerry & Joan, planning to be in Pine Mtn then Indian Springs in April. Any recommendations for terrific camping around the Valdosta area as I still have to book a couple of nights on way home to Tampa Bay Area. Thanks for all the great info. Safe travels.
Thanks. We’re usually rolling south when we get to Valdosta. There’s a very nice State Park campground just off I-75 in Cordele. Check out Veteran’s State Park. It’s been a few years since I wrote this blog, but this should give you a little extra information www.ilovervlife.com/georgia-veterans-state-park/
Thanks so much. Great video tour. We are about to embark on a three week trip form MN to GA. We want to stay in 3-4 GA state parks relatively close to Atlanta. In addition to this park, what other parks would you suggest?
If you don’t mind zig zagging a bit, start at Cloudland Canyon near Chattanooga. Next would be High Falls by the river or this one. They are 8 miles apart. Then depends on the route. If I-16 at Macon to I95, go to Little Ocmulgee in McRae, the on to Skidaway Island next to Savannah. If, I-75 at Macon, visit Veterans in Cordele. All these had spots that fit our 40ft 5th wheel and dually.
@@iLoveRVlife thanks, I like your suggestions. Last March (just as the pandemic was hitting) we camped at Cloudland. It was magnificent and hubby wants to go back, so I think we will do that one. We also did Skidaway last February (I remember being there Super Bowl night). We used it as our base for visiting Savanna but didn’t get enough time to hike the trails, so we might do that one again too. Btw, which park is the one they call “little Grand Canyon” and is there camping there?
Deb, that's Providence Canyon. We just visited. No campground, but a nice State Park 7 miles down the road. Here's a link with details www.ilovervlife.com/providence-canyon-state-park/
Hi Jerry, I notice you referenced going to Reserve America rather than directing people to GeorgiaStateparks.org. Is that the trick to getting a better chance at securing a spot? Side note, we are camping at High Falls in a couple of days for the 4th or 5th time. First time in a pop up though. We've explored Indian Springs before. But, we've never camped there. Starting to think we should change our reservations to Indian Springs. Which one is your favorite of the two?
Hi Courtney. When you click on the link to make a reservation for a Georgia State Park, you’ll see the link takes you to Reserve America. The State Parks are very popular and you’ll need to book early. We’ve finding this true for other states. Have a great time at High Falls. They are both favorites, different in what they offer. If you have a good spot reserved, you may want to hold on to it.
@@iLoveRVlife Yes, camping has been on the upward trend in popularity in the last 4 yrs and the pandemic has increased it exponentially. Gone are the days of being able to check the weekend weather forecast on a Wednesday, booking a campsite on Thursday and heading out on a Frisay. It was harder to book a campsite than it was to reserve a vaccine appointment!
Side note: I really appreciate it when you cover details about the level of difficulty in getting into the campground. Keep it up! There are some campgrounds in the mountains we want to stay at but don't know if we are able to brave the drive into the parks while towing a pop up. Ex: Vogel, Fort Mountain and Black Rock. I appreciate your childlike wonder you show with every review. Are there any parks you aren't in a hurry to get back to? Thanks again.
Those are tight parks. With a 40 foot 5th wheel we have to do a little extra research for fit. We’ve only gotten burnt once ,but we made a decision when we started the channel to not do negative reviews. If we didn’t like it we just move on down the road. Have a few favorites - Ocean Grove, Cloudland Canyon, Skidaway, Catherine’s Landing, Leisure Acres, Two Rivers.

We recently bought an RV and enjoy your videos. I like the way you show different sites so we can reserve one that fits our RV and has privacy.
Thanks Wrenn.
Awesome campground, I will put it on our list of places to stay. Thank you for the tour.

Used to go to Indian Springs as a kid. My grandma lived in Monticello
