Ive been playing around with trying to get a mirror polish with this system. I was watching Neeves Knives and once he got to the ceramic he went straight side to side, as in left to right instead of up and down in the same motion your creating the bur. Figured I would try it and it made a world of difference for me, extremely polished now. You can try that next time if you want. It looks clean AF. Nice Video!
On worksharps channel I they showed that using push strokes will produce a slightly sharper edge than a sawing motion. Also adding a little water to the ceramic will produce a slightly better polish. An easy way to find stropping angle is to lay the blade flat on the strop and pull it towards you while slowly raising it up and once it bites that's the stropping angle. I use this method because I can't freehand at all
Yea but there is scratch marks everywhere it's not a truly mirror polish you need stropping films down to microns which are 80,000+ grit, there is no way you getting a mirror finish on this knife without seeing scratch marks with 320, 600, and a fucking ceramic rod.

Awesome man! Yeah you will get really good at it. Start with an inexpensive knife. If you follow the video you’ll have a badass edge 😉 Let me know how it turns out!
Not really needed but I got the lapping film to get a scary sharp edge just for fun. I pulled out a single chest hair and was able to carve a small section out of it.
I can reprofile around five or six knives before I notice them wearing out a little. But you can keep using them for a long time. They just don’t sharpen as quick anymore after maybe 10 knives
Love my KME, especially when my hand don't co-operate, most of my stuff usually for working edge, or was, retired so I can allow myself more of a refined edge than I used to. Pretty important! Also, if you stop every couple days, you’ll never have to sharpen. The strop maintains your sharp edge You can get one on Amazon for less than $20 and get one that comes with green compound 🤠
You could also use a leather belt if you have one. Sometimes I use my pants leg (after I clean the blade) as a strop after cutting meat/vegetables etc., and it works great to keep the edge sharp - just a thought. You can also use heavy material such as jeans as a strop in a pinch. Stropping is important if you want to keep a sharp edge longer between cuttings with your knife.
How long is 20CV needed to be sharpened? I'm trying to sharpen my We Trogon and I can't see the burr after spending lots of time on it... Using the same system as you in the video.
It takes roughly 10 minutes per side. Is your stones old? With newer stones it will go faster. You can order replacements to stick on there at the WorkSharp website

Hi I find when using the 320 stone it can take a while to get a burr but once I flip it to the other side the burr comes much quicker is that normal or is it important to do both sides the same number of strokes?
It can vary side to side, it’s not always the same number of strokes on both sides. Especially when you’re sharpening a factory edge for the first time. The next time you sharpen it, it will be nice and even.
Work sharp videos show using fewer strokes like 10 passes on each side and counting to be sure you do the same strokes on each side. Seems like this video is over doing the amount of rubbing by a lot, and not insuring both sides get the same treatment. I'm new to this and trying to learn. Just my observation. Thoughts?
10 passes on one side the flipping definitely wouldn’t work well, unless the knife was already relatively sharp. I can’t see a good burr appearing that quickly. As far as counting the strokes, I just always go until I can feel the burr. Sometimes one side requires more time than the other. But maybe I’m just used to it since I’ve been doing it a while. If you want to be certain, you can count strokes. Try it both ways and see which works better. This is just the way I’ve found get great results and a very sharp blade. Thanks for watching!
