A tip is to not use wood spatulas, they often cause bubbles actually , we stopped using them atmwork totally as they create microbubbles as it is a natural material, plastic that dont breathe is way better
All I would add is that your amusement at yourself is refreshing and your enthusiasm for the craft is inspiring. I learn something new from every video I watch. 😊
I love your videos and your perseverance with your experiments, I want to try this, but I am working this weekend, so I will have to wait until next weekend I am hoping it will work with vista's white pigment.
Okay Daniel I am gonna watch this til the end. No click bait allowed plzzzzzzzz! Will be back after to comment again. Drink is ready, bathroom break taken. Let’s Gooooooo! Awesome job. You figured out the secret of alcohol with the acetone. All the pieces looked great. When I started with resin I was doing pours creating painting. I actually would flick water drops onto some of my pieces at the end for a certain added texture. As long as you don’t stir the water into the resin meaning mixing them up and, it’s not a lot of water the resin will cure fine. And the water will evaporate and leave those craters because the water is heavier than the resin. Sometimes I would wait until the resin was pretty thick and do this also for different effects. Resin is always teaching new things. Of course silicone on resin is interesting too. Thank you for sharing. This was fun.
Thank you for acknowledging that not all of us in other countries can access the full range of products. And thank you showing us an alternative method. I’m new to resin art and recognise that I’m on a huge learning curve. Kia Ora from New Zealand 😊
Thanks Libby, very welcome 😊 It really sucks that the same products aren't available everywhere, hopefully once perfected, others can now create great petri art wherever they are 😊😊
I never would have thought to use acetone in ink. Finally I might be able to get through all the acetone I’ve accumulated here. ❤ the effects. I’ll be making a lot of this. Thanks again for a mind blowing technique. ❤ it.
I’m one of the people who can’t get sinker whites so I really appreciate your experimenting. It’s definitely going to get a game changer for me. Thank you.
The *Translucent* ones are _absolutely GORGEOUS!_ What a *MARVELOUS Pattern on the odd Heart!* Wouldn’t it be Fantastic to be able to use and recreate this unique and entrancing look?! 🤔 Thank you SO MUCH for this Highly Useful video! I’ll 100% be making the sinker! 🤍
That first heart - WOW!! IN LOVE!! I laughed when you said it reminded you of a marble because that was exactly what I was thinking! Reminded me of my brothers marbles when we were kids playing.
Some really beautiful colours. I have fallen down the resin hole of awesome videos. I would love to try, but I don't have the space to make them, but I definitely admire others' creativity working with resin. Much respect from Northern Ireland 🍀.
Amazing. And perfect timing... I'm almost out of sinker white, but have a project planned where I wanted to use it...but I do have Ocean white and Acetone lol. Thanks so much for your experimenting and tutorials.
Thank you so much for your videos. I shaped a whole Shopping trip around your videos today 😂 Your videos are great because you have such a fun personality
That is fantastic! I have Castin' Craft white pigment and 100% acetone! I can't wait to try this! I only have 91% alcohol, though. I haven't been able to find anything higher than that. All of the pieces that you made are so cool! I would love to see the video that includes the alcohol. I love watching your experiments!
Daniel you are a true resin wizard. Thank you so much for this experiment. So true that it creates more ideas to try. You are so curious and will explore ideas in such a way that comes across so well. Pure genius!
Hi ,from Australia Daniel .I haven't been doing resin for that long and have watch thousands of videos I must say you are legend, at all your experiment and the beautiful work you do
Daniel you are just terrific with all your experimenting. And then figuring out what the problem was with the aqua, you have such a scientific mind. Blow me away is what you are doing. Thank you so much. Awaiting your next video now!! Yes I am impatient!! lol
Hey Daniel, I'm at 13.01 and loving the results so far. It's funny you using acetone, about 6 weeks ago I learnt about cleaning my brushes in pure acetone, not the acetone/water mix. I'm a resin artist, I paint with UV resin. I do so many other crafts too, and as I've said before, you've cost me a bldy fortune with the petri castings. Menapausal...remember? lol I do love your videos, and I appreciate all that you show us. xxx
@@daniel..cooper It is, I'm terrible at drawing, I've just started making sun catchers in a stained glass style using acrylic panels and a silhouette cameo. They've gone down remarkably well! You should give it a go, I'm sure you'd enjoy it x
*WOWWW!* Absolutely GENIUS, Daniel! Honestly, I think I like the results better than with alcohol-based sinker white? These are just amazing! Okay, that was apparently just the first batch...! I had wondered if one could then mix alcohol with the acetone/pigment mix. Gee, I no more think that, than you answered! Yes, I'd LOVE to see a "from-scratch" video on making this new sinker white! Thank you SO much for the experiments you do, Daniel! You are awesome! 👍😊❤
Hi Daniel!! I have to thank you, indeed, we have to thank you because in recent months you have not only shared your "experiments" with us, but you have taught us so many secrets and procedures! I was able to improve and correct many mistakes I made with the petri dish, but that's not all!! Thanks thanks thanks!!! Sabina

Hello, I am new to your channel. I am new to resin crafts. I am amazed at the time you took experimenting on various designs. Someone has to do it, right? Your cabochons are absolutely beautiful. Thank you, i'm anxious to try some of these combinations. I do this full time now after retirement. I started out designing jewelry. This is just another step up to jewelry making with resin. And I am also learning which resins are good. Never imagined there was so much to learn.
Welcome to Dr Cooper's Labratory!! I keep saying that this medium is 99% science and I appreciate you doing the experiments and sharing your results! You are the best of the best! Thank you Thank you Thank you!! 💕
Full video please, with a concentration on the amount of pigment paste in addition to the 30/70% split of acetone/alcohol. Thanks Daniel! I've been trying but didn't have the knowledge or thought to try acetone!
Daniel I love watching your videos and creating new formulas. They are beautiful pieces you create. Yes I would like to see a video with the new formula for the sinker white.
Love, love, love it. I thought of when your done, put the stencle back on add glitter or color to resin fill up were the cream was and cure. Now it beautiful !! Just a thought.
Oh wow, this is absolutely brilliant!!! I was hoping I'd be able to DIY some sinker white so I could try the Petri effect. I have everything but the pigment paste. Grr However watching you experiment has made me want to try and see if I can replicate these effects with other products! Keep up the great work!
I went looking for you on Instagram, but it says you don't exist. I wanted to show you my latest creations from a past tutorial you did. You bring me such joy.
I purchased all the items which are indorsed with your name ,as I have never seen such great ideas from anyone else in using resin as you have. You always amaze me when you come up with even more amazing ideas and beautiful designs with the Petrie shapes. Great job and congrats for achieving something new and unique once again! I watch every single video right through and often twice. I still don’t get your results though 😂!
Great job with the acetone, I would never have thought to try that. Have you tried making alcohol inks with mica powder? I made mine with mica and 99.9% alcohol. It does work but I never tried to make a white sinker before. Also all the colours I made almost looked like they had very fine glitter in them which cant be used for all projects but still very pretty in the ones I used them for.
The full Recipe is in my latest video for the 2nd batch th-cam.com/video/XH5LbSmLve0/w-d-xo.html
Is there a limit to the pigment/acetone ratio? It seems to me that the more pigment added the less "alcohol ink " needed to make the effect.
Do you mean water?!
A tip is to not use wood spatulas, they often cause bubbles actually , we stopped using them atmwork totally as they create microbubbles as it is a natural material, plastic that dont breathe is way better
Daniel, these were so cool. You’re such an unselfish artist. I love that you share your experiences with the rest of us, so we can all be successful.
