Thanks for the in depth review! I think I'll be keeping my Flip 4 as it's the only one of the three that is stereo. While that may not be a deal breaker for some, I sometimes enjoy reading a book or sleeping with the Flip 4 playing on my chest, and at that range you can definitely hear the left and right speaker separation. And I also use the 3.5 Aux input a lot.
Still using my Flip 3 with a new battery. I listen to podcasts before sleeping, and the speaker is positioned just above the headboard, about 12in away from my head. I can occasionally appreciate the stereo separation (voices, sound effects, simulated motion). Even for some songs where some instruments are more pronounced on either left or right. 🙂 An I'm by no means an audiophile.
Flip 6 vs Bose Flex will be a really interesting comparison. Sizewise comparable and they have nearly the same weight. Do you still have the Earfun Uboom? Include it as well.😊
I've been told that if you connect the Flip 6 to your player, then turn on the Flip 5 and let that connect, then hit Partyboost on the app, then hit the 'tap to connect to Flip 5' tab at the bottom of the app, both speakers are now connected in stereo. Hi Alan, been a fan from the first day and seen almost all your views mate and you are review star. What's your opinion on JBL Flip 6 Vs JBL Charge 5? Do you think they would be Equal?
Thanks Alan for your review, your frequency response measurement helped me adjust the sound. I use the VLC Player for Android to play music with a 10-band equalizer and have set the 2k and 4k controls to -2 db, which removes the little harshness of my Flip 6 GG Version that bothers me in some songs. And now in my opinion it flips really really great :) Thank you Alan ...

I just asked him on his patreon. If he replies I'll let you know. I've always disliked how much variation there can be between different versions of the same JBL speaker. It just adds more confusion to the reviews and makes it more difficult to make an informed decision if you are considering buying one. I'm sure there are plenty of other lesser known companies that do it incognito but JBL is notorious for it. There's always going to be some variation one unit to another but when the components are completely different that's taking it to another (imho unnecessary) level. Especially considering the price tag that goes with JBL I would expect more consistency. Sorry for the rambling rant, Alan. It's just a sore point for me.
Anyone else having problems with the partyboost feature ? What i mean is i have a Flip 6 GG, Flip 5 GG and a Charge 5 ND, no matter which ones i connect with party boost (always just 2 speakers) i get random disconnects from each other or random pops every 3-4 minutes or so. I allready tried uninstalling the JBL app, restarting speakers, phone (Sony xperia xz premium), nothing works. All speakers all updated to the latest firmware. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesnt.
@@alanrossreviews well im trying to make up my mind, Megaboom is 250$ CAD and Flip 6 is 150$ CAD … im trying to convince myself that the flip6 is enough 😂 i know they are different and Megaboom probably has more power, im looking for one that can be portable and somekind of a home soundsystem….
I have the JBL Flip 4 and decided not to purchase the Flip 5 but felt extremely excited that this could be my next upgrade! One key attribute the JBL Flip 4 has is its ability to produce sound not heard at levels from any other speaker its size! The pure clarity and depth were unmatched. Im pumped to hear the JBL Flip 6! I work with speakers for fun, fixing, installing and sometimes reselling them on the internet: In my opinion, the anatomy of the JBL Flip 6 gives this speaker a reason to upgrade- single handedly! With the new driver working in combination with the single tweeter this speaker will offer a sound with true chest resonating bass and crisp highs, think of it like the Flip Version of the JBL Xtreme ahaha. The one slight dilema when deciding to whether or not to upgrade from the JBL Flip 4 to the Flip 6 is the top factor: "How much louder is it?" We all know thats probably the first question we ask. If youre going to spend money for a small speaker, you would expect it to be louder right? Well I think JBL physically cant get much louder, speakers this size already do a good job getting loud and reproducing sound with ridiculous depth and clairty. From now on, Speaker upgrades will be made mostly internally and based on sound depth rather than loudness. At the same time, wtf $129 is a definite kick in the nuts, and with lots of people owning Flip 4's they arent worth much on the internet for resale. Depening on your outlook, you may be having a difficult time making a decision whether or not to upgrade. The reason I will be preordering this speaker comes down to these two resons: 1. It is the future for all JBL Speakers. 2. Its better than the JBL Flip 4 is just about every aspect anyways. I just graduated college and I cannot explain how freaking awesome it was to hangout and party with people that also had the same speaker as I do. Pairing up speakers with your friends is honeslty a life changing feeling, basically sex for anyone wondering! With everything moving from Connect+ to Partyboost it is reassuring to know that his speaker will be extremely versatile and will have you connecting with all JBL speakers for years to come. Also, just think about it, better bluetooth, better battery, fully waterproof, and it looks sexy! Its like buying the new iPhone after selling the same model of phone for four years! I cannot wait to hear this bad boy in person and move into the newschool JBL gang! I hope this helps you find some transparency with my decision making and aid in making yours! -Thomalama
*One key attribute the JBL Flip 4 has is its ability to produce sound not heard at levels from any other speaker its size!:* Please define what you mean by levels. The flip 4 has a lack of bass compared to say the Soundcore boom. *The pure clarity and depth were unmatched:* well we must disagree on this. But that’s audio, subjective and in the eye of the beholder. *chest resonating bass and crisp highs on flip 6:* erm, I must strongly disagree again. *How much louder is it:* define louder, measured how? *I think JBL physically cant get much louder, speakers this size already do a good job getting loud and reproducing sound with ridiculous depth and clarity:* Hoffman’s Law says you can have any 2 of 3. Bass Extension, Efficiency, Small Enclosure. If small enclosure is fixed then you need better efficiency. Have we reached the limits of efficiency? No its improving all the time. Smaller more powerful amps aligned with more efficient drivers capable of increased excursion and the use of dsp means the limits have not been reached. The question what budget can a company throw at the design and still make a profit. *based on sound depth rather than loudness:* you realise you can easily go louder in shear peak terms by doing the opposite right? Cutting all the bass and mids and only pushing the highs. *With everything moving from Connect+ to Partyboost it is reassuring to know that his speaker will be extremely versatile and will have you connecting with all JBL speakers for years to come.:* Its almost as though you are part of the JBL marketing team huh?
hi, i have ordered jbl flip 5, is it still worth in 2024 ? getting in Amazon at a discounted rate !! 28% cheaper then flip 6 .. also im open to different suggestions any other speaker you will suggest within same range ?
@@alanrossreviews price, also I'm open to different speaker within same price. i love watching movies, casual songs, usually in low volume, more focus on vocals
Great review 👏👌 imo in max volume its still on the harsher side ☹ so its really not a game changing iteration for me 👐 I would still consider the MaxSound Plus for overall clarity 🙏 and if I want bass I'll go for the Soundcore Boost as its got that low rumble 🤓
Thanks for the review. kind of predictable it would be a mild improvement. I mean how much can you do with a small speaker? for traveling light I guess it would be ideal, but else better upgrade to a mid size speaker like Charge 5 or get two flip 6 for stereo and better sound.
right its the form factor, reasonable sound in a bashable form factor but higher volumes will start to sound harsh and thin, lower volumes fuller and more balanced
@@alanrossreviews makes sense. my flip 3 was the same. I guess it's just the limitation of these small speakers. except the minirig which sounded awesome in your reviews.
totally except the boost has a warmer sound so has that tweeter meant its more lean than full as you raise the volumes? i keep telling people there is more to getting better highsthan just adding a tweeter with these cheap speakers. high end speakers spend a fortune on just the crossover to get it right let alone better quality tweeters. cheap tweeters with cheap crossovers does not translate into better highs. 🙄
you ever thought about demoing these Bluetooth Speakers like the Audiophile TH-camrs do...as in several different types of Music...Classical...Jazz...Pop etc
@@alanrossreviews I know. I mean two 5's compared to two 6's compared to two 4's hooked in stereo mode. Which set sounds best. I have two 5's linked in stereo.
I just bought a charge 4, would motion boom/motion+ be good at low volume or should i look into charge 3 or a small speaker instead. thank you for your reviews
@@alanrossreviews warm rich sound signature, something that isn’t tiring to listen to in the background. I wouldn’t mind something smaller. jazz, piano, lofi, rock.
Obviously Soundcore Boost it is as it's got deep bass as opposed to mid bass of the JBL Flip 6. Mid bass feels more neutral while deep bass gives a heart thumping experience which is a warm and soothing sensation.
Motion + has a bigger sound stage with a more airy sound due to the 12 kHz boost. It definitely outclasses the Flip 6 in producing the higher range audio frequencies. I can tell it edges it in terms of bass too as the Flip 6 has bass limiting after 60%. Motion + on the other hand has good bass till 80% volume depending on how you EQ it.
Great, detailed and unbiased review. Still I will not buy Flip 6 because I bought my Flip 5 in April this year with great discount at 70 USD in local currency (a new one). The new JBL Flip 6 is already in local online store at 140 USD. Yes, there is better bass and volume but it is not two times better. The difference is not very big and IMHO can not justify such huge difference in price.
@alanrossreviews yes there is definitely cheaper and better sounding speakers but the flip 6 is the one I have found to be the most reliable and it impresses people the most because of the sound it putes out for its size and I like the premium feel of it
They had a drink at lunch and offset the speaker 😂. I actually think it might have been intentional, bc I bike with this speaker and I just put it in the cup holder for my backpack with the speaker side up. If it were centered it would be partially boiled by the fabric.
In this video I hear that Flip 6 both sound with flip 5, flip 4 still better, clear than flip 5 and even flip 6, but bass better on f5,f6 but it’s still horrible on flip 5 and a little bit clean on flip 6
there is no such thing as lfm. please forget the nonsense you hear. lfm was a service mode removing the dsp limiters and thus ensuring you can brick your speaker by producing more bass than the drivers can handle.
flip 6 makes most sense if you need that form factor. it gets quite harsh as you go past 60% and with the limited eq you can tame it and keep balance but if you like a sharp lean sound its fine. flex ive not heard.
@@alanrossreviews True, but to me V-shaped doesn't make sense if the speaker don't have a big bass, Xtreme 3 V-shaped nature doesn't bother me as much for example. 😝 Could probably reduce the highs a bit with the EQ that does at least work 👍
There's something called the Harman Target that most consumer audio companies, including JBL, try to follow. And just because the sound signature is V shaped, that doesn't mean I'll sound V shaped. The human ear doesn't listen to all frequencies at the same volume, in fact in order for something to sound "flat" to our ears, it needs a lot of highs and even more bass, those are the equal loudness curves
@@Ignacio.Romero The Harman target curve is about headphones, not speakers. Do you know why ? Because a speaker will never sound uniform, it depends of your room. Room reflections change the sound. Move your speaker 5 inches apart of where it is and the sound is different. That's why you want a flat speaker, to let the room do the coloration for you. By the way the Harman curve is not flat, why would you want a boost at 3khz ? It sits exactly where frequencies are easier to hear by our ears.

Especially considering the price tag that goes with JBL I would expect more consistency. Sorry for the rambling rant, Alan. It's just a sore point for me.
yup! tell me about it 🤣
Oh well, at least we have an eq now. That's something, I guess... 🎉🎊🎉
Sadly this is only available in the UK so far and not US, can't wait for it to be released here too
Not bad...I wonder if it could keep up with motion+...
Nope, thats a big step up 😉
@@alanrossreviews but not in price, right?)))
right but very different form factors, motion plus much bigger and less knockable...
Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesnt.
stereo is the flaky one for me
Hi, would you go with the UE Megaboom 3 or the JBL flip 6 ??
Thanks
lol, such different speakers why them? the flip 6 is probably better vfm.
@@alanrossreviews well im trying to make up my mind, Megaboom is 250$ CAD and Flip 6 is 150$ CAD … im trying to convince myself that the flip6 is enough 😂
i know they are different and Megaboom probably has more power, im looking for one that can be portable and somekind of a home soundsystem….
Hmm. I think I'd rather have the soundcore boost or bogasing m4 from hearing your other tests. Is the boost discontinued?
Nope, just different form factor, will compare some point down the road
I have the JBL Flip 4 and decided not to purchase the Flip 5 but felt extremely excited that this could be my next upgrade! One key attribute the JBL Flip 4 has is its ability to produce sound not heard at levels from any other speaker its size! The pure clarity and depth were unmatched. Im pumped to hear the JBL Flip 6! I work with speakers for fun, fixing, installing and sometimes reselling them on the internet:
In my opinion, the anatomy of the JBL Flip 6 gives this speaker a reason to upgrade- single handedly!
The reason I will be preordering this speaker comes down to these two resons:

*One key attribute the JBL Flip 4 has is its ability to produce sound not heard at levels from any other speaker its size!:*
Please define what you mean by levels. The flip 4 has a lack of bass compared to say the Soundcore boom.
*The pure clarity and depth were unmatched:*
well we must disagree on this. But that’s audio, subjective and in the eye of the beholder.
*chest resonating bass and crisp highs on flip 6:*
erm, I must strongly disagree again.
*How much louder is it:*
define louder, measured how?
*I think JBL physically cant get much louder, speakers this size already do a good job getting loud and reproducing sound with ridiculous depth and clarity:*
Hoffman’s Law says you can have any 2 of 3.
*based on sound depth rather than loudness:*
you realise you can easily go louder in shear peak terms by doing the opposite right? Cutting all the bass and mids and only pushing the highs.
*With everything moving from Connect+ to Partyboost it is reassuring to know that his speaker will be extremely versatile and will have you connecting with all JBL speakers for years to come.:*
Its almost as though you are part of the JBL marketing team huh?
hi, i have ordered jbl flip 5, is it still worth in 2024 ? getting in Amazon at a discounted rate !! 28% cheaper then flip 6 .. also im open to different suggestions any other speaker you will suggest within same range ?
depends if you are comparing by size or price?
@@alanrossreviews price, also I'm open to different speaker within same price. i love watching movies, casual songs, usually in low volume, more focus on vocals

Soundcore motion plus ❤️ vs Flip 6❤️🔥whom will u choose for Bass🔥????
the boom 🤣
so its a "major major major go"...with that 2 step eq, i'm starting to like it
It could certainly have been worse, 😁😁😁
Great review 👏👌 imo in max volume its still on the harsher side ☹ so its really not a game changing iteration for me 👐 I would still consider the MaxSound Plus for overall clarity 🙏 and if I want bass I'll go for the Soundcore Boost as its got that low rumble 🤓
boost warmer and flip 6 clearer and leaner, clear choice.
Awesome detailed review/comparison!
Does the JBL Charge 5 have a 3 band EQ settings as well?
Thank you.
nope, not so far.
@@alanrossreviews yes, sir, so eventually it comes to down to investing some extra money and getting a proper sound system or setup.
you ever thought about demoing these Bluetooth Speakers like the Audiophile TH-camrs do...as in several different types of Music...Classical...Jazz...Pop etc

When do we get the same test with each paired to another one in stereo mode?
you cant pair different models in stereo

Hello Alan
I have a FLIP 4
Do you think it's a good idea for upgrade to 6?
Will I notice a fair amount of difference or should I stay with 4?
yup, or think about soundcore boost and maxsound plus
Should replaced my flip 5 to flip 6? The difference price is 60% more expensive 🤔 or i replaced my motion plus to get party boost flip 5 and flip 6 🙈?
id keep the motion plus, the flip 6 sounds better but enough to justify the price????
I just bought a charge 4, would motion boom/motion+ be good at low volume or should i look into charge 3 or a small speaker instead. thank you for your reviews
not sure what sound you are looking for, motion boom would be a decent step up.
@@alanrossreviews warm rich sound signature, something that isn’t tiring to listen to in the background. I wouldn’t mind something smaller. jazz, piano, lofi, rock.
motion plus is not warm, its clear and lean. you might even be happy with a soundcore boost or bogasing m4
you could make a review using the Tronsmart Studio speaker or a comparison with a 4/5/6 flip or some other at a similar price to Tronsmart
Hi Alan. You can try jbl flip 6 vs minirig 3 single.
Vs soundcore boost upgraded. Which one would you listen to...moderate volume of course
yet to compare them..watch this space.....😝
SoundCore boost, and you can get two of them for less than the price of the flip six.
Obviously Soundcore Boost it is as it's got deep bass as opposed to mid bass of the JBL Flip 6. Mid bass feels more neutral while deep bass gives a heart thumping experience which is a warm and soothing sensation.
How is the battery life of the Flip 6 in real world ?
Nice
✨ EXCITED .....Jbl flip 6 Vs Anker Soundcore motion plus ❤️
Motion + has a bigger sound stage with a more airy sound due to the 12 kHz boost. It definitely outclasses the Flip 6 in producing the higher range audio frequencies. I can tell it edges it in terms of bass too as the Flip 6 has bass limiting after 60%. Motion + on the other hand has good bass till 80% volume depending on how you EQ it.
Great! 👍
Thanks! 😃
How directional is ?

I can’t find the flip 6 anywhere where did you get it?

@@alanrossreviews when does it come out in the US?
no idea, sorry.
The difference is not very big and IMHO can not justify such huge difference in price.
at least this time its still partyboost so can be paired with several different types of jbl speakers now
Well seems I'm going to skip that flip 6! Tribit, anker, we need you!!🤪🤪
it loses out once you start raising the volume, heavily tuned for bass heavy sound at lower volumes.
I still enjoy my flip 4
good job!
The flip 6 is a mini beast sounds better than the charge 4 and it is smaller abd i got it for £90 and it is my go to speaker and i use it every day
well im not sure i would go that far, it can get a bit screechy but yeah can do a job
@alanrossreviews yes there is definitely cheaper and better sounding speakers but the flip 6 is the one I have found to be the most reliable and it impresses people the most because of the sound it putes out for its size and I like the premium feel of it
Terlihat seri atasnya lebih terkesan berbobot namun saya belum tau hasil suaranya bagaimana yang di hasilkan.. semoga chanelnya terus berkembang 🙏😁

They had a drink at lunch and offset the speaker 😂. I actually think it might have been intentional, bc I bike with this speaker and I just put it in the cup holder for my backpack with the speaker side up. If it were centered it would be partially boiled by the fabric.
well you are being generous to JBL 😁😁
I would have liked rhe tweeter to be on the left side lol
i hope that jbl will put subwoofer nxt for the flip 7 :)

better off getting a charge 5
@@alanrossreviews By the way, in this video, where there is a comparison at 50% volume, it seems that the speakers are mixed up
@@alanrossreviews Look, maybe there is a mistake?
Dose it have lfm?
there is no such thing as lfm. please forget the nonsense you hear. lfm was a service mode removing the dsp limiters and thus ensuring you can brick your speaker by producing more bass than the drivers can handle.
the flip 4 certainly sounds better than any of them
mono just can not compete with true stereo in terms of sound quality
It looks like some more vids are comming to the flip6 :D ... compaired maybe to a tribit, maybe to a motion + maybe to a partybox 1000 😆
yup and even to the bloke next door 💪👌👍
It seems that the Bose flex is better
flip 6 makes most sense if you need that form factor. it gets quite harsh as you go past 60% and with the limited eq you can tame it and keep balance but if you like a sharp lean sound its fine. flex ive not heard.
bro why are you lying? i literally have the jbl flip 6 and it floats. almost every new jbl speaker floats. did you even try to test it????
if you are not trolling and actually want a reply dont start your comment with why are you lying.
Let's see how it's EQ works 😌
Edit : Oh joy, another v-shaped speaker
its jbl 🤗
@@alanrossreviews True, but to me V-shaped doesn't make sense if the speaker don't have a big bass, Xtreme 3 V-shaped nature doesn't bother me as much for example. 😝
Could probably reduce the highs a bit with the EQ that does at least work 👍
And you can push mids which has the most headroom
