Looks amazing. I also like your NL legion painting guide; looks like the big difference is either using Lead Belcher or Grey Seer for the base. I think I like Lead Belcher more...but, no lightning for old Konrad?
The problem is that I think you were right the first time. Midnight clad is the watch-word of the Night Lords and to have them painted as bright as the Ultramarines really just makes them look like evil Ultramarines lol. All the artwork has them too bright in my book, and it's the lightning effects that "lightens" them up instead.
Konrad was described in the Horus Heresy book _Fulgrim_ just after the Dropsite Massacre standing on a black stage alongside the other traitor primarchs, his armor was described as looking "darker even than the black podium," and personally I've always thought the artwork for him and many other Night Lords has been sub-par for the simple fact that they're supposed to be a Legion clad in colors so dark that they're almost the black of the Raven Guard.
Now I realize I wasn't asked lol but I would just like to just share this look I've been able to get onto Night Lords. I go with a blue and purple mix with a little black dropped in for the first coat. Once that mix is over the armor, I give it some white lightening bolts. To finish it I drop a black wash coat over the whole thing. Finally, I repeat thinner white stripes on the armor, then give it a light blue and white mix for the final lightening bolts. I'm not the neatest, particularly precise painter, but I think it this gives Night Lords a real unique, night time, purplish dark blue sky look on the armor, and the bolts look good too. I never liked the raw blue armor on Night Lords, it just makes them look to loyalist to me. When I think of Night Lords I think of ghosts, ghouls, gargoyles, Hannibal Lector, the Crypt Keeper from Tales From the Crypt, and little Spawn and Ghost Rider mixed in. I always felt their gold trim should be red on the shoulder pads and a real minimal brass look , if any brass, only on the captains and HQ units. For Kurze I can't even touch the model because of the price, but I think you did a terrific job, you made him look great, the silver base was a great way to bring out the heroic knight and shine of a primarch. I like the idea of him in all black armor with red bats, bluish lightening bolts and a completely moon white face. I'm too stuck in 40K maybe lol but I'm not aware of the lightening bolts being a thing that came after the heresy, I think there are NLs with it mentioned in the Heresy.

Excellent work, i recently viewed your NL paint guide and found it very good. I loved the idea you had for the lightening and also the silver undercoat. I hope my attempt works as well! The Caledor Sky worked really nice on the model. Will you do Sevatar too?

Your Primarch is there with you, and you feel his presence and strength infusing you with the courage to face whatever the enemy may throw at you. Alongside you, other loyalist Legions, such as the Word Bearers and Night Lords, have come to aid in the battle to cleanse the filth from this once noble world. However, amidst the din of combat, you start to hear distant explosions coming from your estabilished positions. The vox is jammed, and you scramble to change frequencies, trying to make sense of what's happening. Suddenly, a deafening blast rocks your world, and you're knocked unconscious for a few seconds. When you come to senses, your eyes are met with a disturbing sight - a dark-haired madman, who looks like a twisted version of your beloved gene-father, stands before you. He wears a tassel and a cape made of human skin and bones, and his cackling laughter fills the air. As a Marine, a soldier of His Imperium, one of the Emperor's most elite warriors and a veteran of countless battles, you have been trained to face any challenge without faltering. Fear is an emotion that you have learned to keep at bay, for it has no place in the hearts of a true warrior. And yet, as you catch sight of the figure in the midnight-clad armor, even you cannot help but feel a twinge of apprehension. There is something about the way this warrior carries himself, something in the way he moves that sets him apart from any opponent you have ever faced. His aura exudes an air of danger that makes both of your heart race. You have faced many foes in your time, but this one is different - there is an aura of darkness that surrounds him, something that makes your skin crawl. You recognize him instantly; you've heard stories about him and his twisted Legion. However, you're still disoriented and confused, wondering why the Night Lords, who were supposed to be fighting alongside you, are now attacking. I agree. I think the darker suits better. Although I thing the 40K once are darker and the Hersey are is brighter. Just so there is some distinction.

Yep it should indeed do a good job and if you think it came out a little thin you can alway what it with a second coat.
