Nice setup u got. You would love to be here in Jax, Fl. if u havent already. There are tons of creeks and small tributaries off St. John's river and intercoastal waterways so u can catch smallmouth, largemouth, bluegill & tons of other freshwater species in one lake or creek and the drive 10min & be fishing for tarpon, trout, flounder and giant redfish in the brackish water creeks closer to the jetties. It's a fisherman's paradise. Cool Video & Happy Holidays!

Great videos John. Have you ever tried suspending a crappie jig 3 foot to however deep the water is on the smallest possible bobber that will allow the jig to stay off the bottom and twitch it, or if a slight breeze also will give the jig some motion. Crappies are less likely to spook than say a bass, and they are more likely to feed suspended off the the bottom as well, if actively feeding and forage is present. I remember the most unreal outing with my fishing buddy at an unfamiliar residential pond, from a small john boat , a number of years ago, where we were targeting namely bass, in 45 degree water ( were Not Novice bass anglers ) so only because there was a bait shop on our way to the pond, we decided to get a couple dozen shiners, mainly do to being unfamiliar with the pond, and not the most comfortable weather that day. Well after being unsuccessful using jig and craws in heavy deep cover we decided to go to the minnow's under small bobbers, still targeting bass, and within an hour we were out of shiners, all within a 30 yard area and had caught crappie after crappie of unreal size 10 to 16 inches, and all out of shiners. Well, only by chance did we have small crappie style jigs, so we tied on the jigs in place of the shiner ( we kept on the bobbers) and had at least another 2 hours of truly non stop action, many many 12 inch average crappies ( my guess between us 40 to 60 fish) while never having until that day, fished for crappies , or that type of jig under a small bobber, without minnows. We did not know there were crappie even present in that pond before that day, and my area ( Maryland) is not known for catching consistent crappie of any size, let alone the average size my friend and I had caught that day. Definitely a day both of us will never forget, and probably never duplicate. I know it sounds goofy and a strange way to fish, but if ever at that pond again ( private community pond ) or find myself in a similar situation, I would and will tie on that same type of rig... and fully expect to see some action. Even not twitching the jig, we were catching good fish under a small bobber. I challenge you to give it a try, regardless of the season, and that bridge area that you and Chris fished not long ago, would be a sure bet for a good day fishing. Hey, maybe a challenge for you hand a friend? Jigs under a float challenge, more than worth a try! Keep the vids coming, and good luck with coaching!🤞

    • @MarkMeadows90

I don't think I will ever use electronics to find fish. It almost seems like "cheating" in a way. If you can locate fish, whether it be bait fish, or fish to catch with rod and reel, then who needs electronics? I would only need electronics to see what the water temperature is, or maybe who deep the water is. That's about it lol

Powerbait. Sit back and let that glittery, pungent playdough entice the fish. Like a moth to a flame. Electrocuting the water is also effective. It stuns the fish. Wildlife dept use it to tag the fish to monitor population.
