I don't believe Kody forced her to buy a house, her requirements for a rental home were unrealistic forcing her to buy, it was an excuse to play dumb/innocent, Robyn is more intelligent and far more manipulative than she presents.

I agree. It wasn't that there was nothing to rent, it was that they had to have an enormous house in a specific area. Not like Janelle who never expected that her children have their own room. The difference is like night and day.

THIS is the reason people don't like Robyn. The lack of empathy and compassion for anyone other than herself and Kody.
Robyn is trying to keep Meri there because Robyn wants her $$$ contribution and credit rating. All of Robyn's family and friends report she has a spending addiction. Why does she not meet with Meri in her house?? I suspect she doesn't want the viewers to see how she spends the family money. Robyn is manipulative 100%!!!

I saw a still shot last night and there was a pile of newspapers by the front door and I saw boxes behind her on the side of the hallway. I really do believe she’s a hoarder of the over shopping kind.

If she is a shopaholic I love that most of the money is gone and Kody might have to deal with the wife that spends the most.
We learned that Robyn’s agenda this season is to make it seem she was blindsided by all the problems in the family; more victim mentality.

I thought the exact same. Let’s freeze our butts outside instead of going in the huge house the family bought me. Oh and I don’t know why the family doesn’t want to spend the holidays freezing outside, oh and I didn’t even invite them over.

Robyn didn’t want to buy that house, but she wouldn’t compromise to take a smaller rental with fewer bedrooms.
She put up a good show saying she didn’t want to buy the house but in reality it was the only one that meant all of her boxes checked it had to have more than one room. I mean any of her kids to share a room she didn’t want any of her kids to sacrifice anything but she wasn’t willing to downsize so in reality. Yes, she wanted his house.
One thing that’s not mentioned on the show is I believe Robyn has guardianship of a niece or something so I getting needing a lot of bedrooms (although many of her kids are old enough to be living on their own) but the house is still extravagant and unnecessary. Could’ve had the space with something more affordable.
Honestly, I feel like Robyn had given sooooooooo much crap to Christine, and spoke sooooooo much crap about Christine, for buying her house and delaying the building on coyote pass that she had to pretend that she hated the idea soooooooooo much to save face when she ended up buying. I just watched that season and Robyn was so insensitive to Christine every time she said she felt buying was selfish. Look at Christine everytime when they are all together and Robyn starts going off on her reasons for not wanting to buy. There is so much underlying tension there. Every comment is squarely directed at Christine for her buying her house outright.
I do think also that Christine was planning to leave Kody before ever leaving Vegas and her owning her own house and building equity in it was part of her long term plan. She was pretty smart about it. I think she made the right move.
And went from a 500K home that she could've bought it to a 900K mansion. Yeah right, she didn't want to buy a house

Indulge me here… My hot take on Robyn is she liked being Cody’s favorite. She enjoys the polygamist lifestyle when she feels like it’s a competition and she’s winning. She’s freaking out because the prize of Cody is not at all what she wants on her own! It’s only fun when it’s a competition… anyone?!?

Just finished watching the episode. Robyn just sees all in the family as accessories in her dream, not as equal humans with their own lives and feelings. She is completely self-centered with no self-awareness.

Mari spent over 20 years getting a ridiculous size of the family income. She spent a lot of money herself. She also went to school for social work and wasn’t able to use it. Her only income is the bnb. Which is only profitable because of the sacrifices the other two og wives made so Mari wouldn’t feel bad about only having one bio kid.

All I could think about the conversation between Robyn and Meri was that Robyn was intentionally, slyly playing dumb. She knows how people talk about her and blame her for being a family wrecker. She knows she's the one who's had Kody to herself since they moved or even before. Prior to Christine leaving she knew EVERYTHING about Kody and the family, and would push her way forward to answer all the questions as "spokesperson" for them all, but NOW she knows NOTHING? Hahahaaa... and why couldn't she invite Meri into her house when Meri forgot her coat and was freezing? What's in Robyn's home that she won't let anyone see? I thought they paid her for being on this show, yet, the only place they can film is her ugly front bench? Also, after the "tell all" at the end of S. 17, Robyn was righteously ANGRY. Oh she gets it. She's not dumb, she's mega, ultra selfish.
Maybe that was Meri being manipulative by "forgettimg her coat" to see if Robyn would invite her in. And the cameras would catch it all... 😂 I hope so!

He's right, the relationship between christine and kody was messed up prior to covid. Robyn alienated kody and monopolized all his time and made it worse.
I think that Robyn’s courtship is what drove the wedge deep. I feel like the family was in a good place until Robyn put that “good good” on Kody and he fell in lust. I mean I’m glad they have a good sex life, but their relationship ruined this family.

Honestly, I think they had problems before the show even. I think Christine talked about how Kody wouldn’t help with her kids when they were younger while she worked nights. I can only imagine how much worse that got after Robyn!

Thank you for your comments about it being the parents’ responsibility to have a relationship with their children. My daughter has no contact with her dad - she lives hours away and has driven to see only to have him cancel when she got to his town. In her mind he chose his new family. We aren’t polygamist either.

Sobin Robyn is a master manipulator. She knows exactly what she is doing. She has always wanted to be the head wife and loves that she influences Kody and indirectly gets him to do whatever she wants him to do. Also, why do they never film inside Robyn's house? Kody & Robyn need Meri’s 6 figure salary to pay for the mansion in the hill
What got me was when Kody insisted on the Covid testing when Truely and Ysabel come down at Christmas, but there was no mention of Christine having done a test before the lunch. Kody has broken the distancing restrictions by meeting Christine for lunch. He only throws out the restrictions and testing when he wants to throw up barriers. I noticed that when Kody and Robyn meet with Mykelti and Tony last season as well.

Robyn wants Mary to stay for 2 reasons. 1. Money. She doesn't want to get a real job. 2. She knows if Kody goes to get new wives, they're going to be younger and prettier than she is.

Meri's turkey story is priceless. I loved hearing her true belly laugh. Like Christine, she has found the humour in her past with Kody. Christine would love that story. Meri and Christine have more in common than either of them think they have.
I was thinking about this, too. I remember Christine saying Meri was not a safe person and it made me wonder if Meri did something to betray her. Maybe because she is close to Robyn, so everything gets back to her? I wonder if they communicated now about everything that has happened, if they could be friends.

When Kodie asked Merry for a divorce so that he could marry Robyn and adopt Robyn's children is when Merry started feeling left out. That would hurt anyone.
Robyn said she didn't want to buy a house but she refused to settle for anything realistic - each of her 5 kids had to have their own bedroom and she wouldn't change school districts. Her unwillingness to compromise on a rental doesn't really jibe with "I didn't want to buy a house."
Robyn: I want the perfect rental with 7 bedrooms for every person in house. Oh there’s none available to rent? Oh I guess then we have to buy. Oh I guess if I have to I’ll buy. God just didn’t give me a rental.”
Okay, I'm confused Doc! If you've watched the back seasons, you'll notice that Robyn is the only wife that doesn't work outside the home. Meri is the last one contributing to the "Family Fund". Now, I do think that the other wives stopped believing for various reasons. Robyn never wanted monogamy. She knows that living with Kody one on one is horrible. But she brought this on herself. She never tried to be a part of this family. I wanted all the perks and none of the work!

Not only doesn’t Robyn work, she doesn’t even look after her own children, she’s got a nanny for that. Which has given her more time to go shopping and spend the other wives money.
When u asked your wife in the beginning if Robyn was dense or a good liar. I really think that she feels like she had part in the family falling apart and if Meri tells her it’s been there, then she doesn’t have to hold so much guilt, and accountability. It’s like she’s begging Meri to tell her what she wants to hear.

5:59 - my face when my husband makes a good point and I admit it. So glad you do these together, I enjoy your healthy interactions as much as the analysis of the show.
I think we need to remember that the family had issues but what family doesn't even in monogamy. When Kody was counting Robyn he abandoned his family inclusion a pregnant Christine every weekend. When Robyn moved to Utah she said that because she wasn't a wife yet, she did not feel it was appropriate to move into the Lehi house so she got a house down the block but then demanded that Kody spend every 4th night with her. Equal to the other wives. Then she lied about the dress. She kissed a married man as his wife was in labor (a no no for them). She made it about herself when Christine spoke about how this hurt her. Robyn hired nannies rather than allowing the sister wives to parent her children. Robyn brought in no income but a lot of debt and mouths to feed. She demanded Kody not be away from her house for more than 2 days. She compakined about Hubter not being extactic about her pregnancy with Solomon. She complained to Kody about Christine not being a good sister wife (otherwise why would he say this) Robyn complained to Kody about Garrisok calling her and asking for her to give them their father back, causing the major rift between Kody and his boys. Not allowing Meri to spend time with them during Covid even though Kody was fine with it. Looking back at the start of Covid she appeared more afraid than Kody so I suspect these were her rules that she manipulated Kody into thinking they were his because it helped him have an excuse to neglect his responsibilities as father and husband. I can go on. Robyn was in fact the catalyst that broke this family up IMO. You just need to look back and see past the editing and their talking points. What kind of person kicks a family dog?
Meri was so cold and instead of inviting her in they sit out in the cold. Why and to top it she brings out kodys coat for her. I have noticed she never lets anyone in her house.
Robyn now is trying to present to the world that she was tricked in to a family that lied to her. She knew what she was getting in to

Robyn made me so mad in this episode with all her crap; we need to pick up the torch for Kody, we are still a family Meri (though you only talk to your husband once every two weeks and you haven't had a relationship with him in 7years, here's Kody's jacket to keep you warm. I really don't understand Robyn. She has no relationship with any of her sisterwives except Meri and only one kid from her sisterwives.
And really, Robyn and Meri haven’t seemed to be close in years either. 😬
I love the fact that Christine is "giddy" every time she speaks in this episode. It's so great to see her happy. And you two did a great job; I thought most of it was boring too.
Robyn is not the brightest, but your wife is right. She is lying, acting, pretending. If Robyn wanted this family for honorable reasons, she would have treated them better. She is performing AGAIN (not very well) to make herself look like a caring person. Here Meri, help me with Kody. I'm so worried about him. Let's have a common goal that Kody will thank me for later. She's trying to pull Meri in to keep her in the family for $ despite how she has been treated.
That's my take as well. When people have manipulative role models, they often behave the same way without an awareness that it's not the only way to get what you want or need. Robyn's not very smart, so she keeps pulling out the same rusty tools instead of developing new ones.
Reqatching the episode of robin having covid and going to the hospital was quite entertaining. She had no oxygen, never spoke of her 02 sats and wasnt kept, yet she was deteriorating as far as cody and her kids go. Hilarious to see the fakeness when we all know now what she really would have looked like and what would have happened if she was as bad as she acted like she was. Pathetic woman
Yeah I was hospitalized twice and kept for a week each time. Robyn is just a big fat baby like joey lol. She was probably hoping for a break and wanted to panic her kids who were worried Robyn would "take a turn for the worse".
Robyn is one of the worst parents I've ever seen lmao. No wonder Dayton is desperate to get away from her. Us autistics see way more than people assume we do lol.

I’m so sick of hearing Kody’s whining. If what we have seen in the last couple of seasons is him thinking that he’s doing his very best, then he has absolutely no self awareness.
And I’m sick of Robyn’s crying. I’m not sure whether she’s clueless and doesn’t know how she affects other people. Or whether she’s as manipulative as Kody. She cries because she does not get to sit on the porch with her sister wives and grandchildren. But she has not done anything to nurture any of the relationships that could lead them in that direction. How was that suppose to happen then?!
My favourite part was Christine’s shining beautiful smile seeing how happy she is and her laughing at Kody 😂

My ONE hope for Season 18 was that someone would talk to Robyn about those eyebrows.
Robyn GREATLY benefited from day one of coming into the family. Kody ALWAYS preferred her and worked his butt off to make her happy. She was the new shiny toy he got to have and he felt like she was a trophy wife and made him look good. So from Robyn's perspective, being in the family was great for her and all of the other wives were expected, and told by Kody, to cater to Robyn's needs. So it is possible she had Rose colored glasses on.
It's also possible that she never ever considered anyone else's perspective and didn't give much thought to anyone else about how they might have been feeling.
Plus the kids were always circling around all of the adults and the kids LOVED being together with everybody and they graciously took Robyn's kids into the fold, which was wonderful for her. So from Robyn's perspective, I do think it's very possible she always felt like the family was a big dream that made her happy..... until she didn't do enough to foster the relationships with everybody else and they were all done with catering to her every need.
We see Robyn doing all these special things for and with Meri, but when did we ever see Robyn doing special things for Christine or Janelle?
You are so right! I feel like it’s probably true that Robyn doesn’t get what everyone else is feeling, but only because she never cared enough to try to understand anyone’s feelings except her own (and her childrens to an extent, but we’ve seen her even manipulate them). In the end, it’s all about Robyn.

I thought it was weird that as cold as it was outside, Robyn refused to invite Meri in to talk on 18/1. Robyn really seems afraid to allow filming in any part of her home except outside. It’s really strange....

Robyn trying to get Meri to carry the torch for Kody was wrong on so many levels. Robyn is the head wife, legal wife, and in their religion she's the one that is supposed to get the other women on board.
The relationships were Rocky, but Robyn knew, and she demanded 100% attention from him.

Seeing how the "COVID Chronicles" played out with Kody and Robyn, I absolutely believe that she wanted to buy that million dollar house all along. They were playing everyone with that saga....because you sure don't see Robyn mention Coyote Pass anymore, do ya? Yeah. Complete LARP for the audience AND the 3 wives. "Oh no, Kody, please don't force me to buy this luxurious million dollar property, nestled in the trees, far away from the rest of the family....and far ritzier than my single-wide trailer in Utah...." said no Robyn ever!
Also, this episode, far more than any other in the previous 17 seasons, felt very scripted. Especially the conversation between Robyn and Meri. But even the dialog between Janelle and Christine while they were assembling that shelf felt very scripted. And none of them are particularly good "actors." Nevertheless, I'm so looking forward to seeing Janelle become the "Janelle-inator!" No mercy for Kody.👊

I've been watching since Season 1. The dynamic changed immediately when he and Robyn got married. When he divorced Meri, Janelle and Christine were stunned and flummoxed. What got me, and maybe it was TLC's rules, but no one questioned his logic for why he was marrying Robyn.
If all the wives leave, then Robyn is the only wife. Therefore, Robyn can’t be a favorite if she’s an “only.” It’s fun being the favorite and having a never ending honeymoon and easy to treat Kody as the “best customer” when he’s got three other wives to gripe about. Now, if kody is in a mood, she will be the only one kody can take it out on. I don’t think Robyn ever wanted to be the only wife, just the favorite wife.

I think deep down she knows that she's a huge reason, not the only reason, for all of the wives leaving. I think she's trying to play stupid so when Meri does finally leave she won't get so much blame from Kody. She sees how angry Kody is and that he's blaming everything on everyone else, as if he had no part in the demise of three of his marriages.
We have to remember Robyn was looking for a 5+ bedroom house. Rather than take a smaller house, Robyn in part had to buy Because she needed a mcmansion to live in.

I think Robyn really, really wanted that house, too, but acted as though she didn't. She seems more cognizant of how she comes across to us, the viewer, and wants to present herself in a positive light. So she consistently speaks as though she's doing the right thing, but consistently neglects to actually do it?
Robyn's insistence upon each of her children having their own bedroom...5 bedrooms..made it impossible to find a rental in a limited market, but I agree that Kody really, really wanted that house for himself. I remember while watching that episode, saying out loud to myself, "He wants that house for himself." In that area it was a mansion that befitted the god (little g) that he thinks he is.❤
Robin wants the family so she has money from the TV show. Kody only angry because he fears losing the tv show. Let’s talk about that

Robyn and Cody want Mary to stay because they need her income! She’s a high level LulaRoe rep that makes quite a bit of money from it. They need both Mary’s and Janelle’s income to pool together to fund their life.
Robyn knew Kody had a pregnant wife while he was off courting her when she lived hours away. What did she think Christine was doing when she was home alone with all the kids, 9 months pregnant? What did she think Christine was doing when they were on their 11 day honeymoon, Meri and Janelle were working, and Christine was looking after 16 children, only 6 weeks after giving birth?
If Robyn didnt comprehend this, maybe she is like a nursing assistant I supervised, who couldnt comprehend that when she didnt bother to come to work,,somebody else had to do her job. I figured out that when she wasnt there, in her mind, the place didnt exist. It was like she never developed the concept of object permanence that most people get before they are one year old.
Maybe Robyn is so stupid she didnt realize the other wives and children continue to exist when she is absent.

Cognitively, you know that the characters you come to know and love in long-running sitcoms cease to exist when the actors leave the stage set. Maybe Robyn thinks people cease to exist when out of her sight, because that is her frame of reference.
Reportedly she pursued Kody when she heard the family was thinking about doing a TV show, and she wanted to be in it. Nicole Kidman played a character in To Die For, who wanted desperately to be on TV. That was her validation. You aren't a real person unless you're on TV, and you cease to exist when the cameras are turned off.
Is it possible there are people out there who watched too much TV as children and as a result, don't really get object permanence?
The most cringy part was Meri talking about the Turkey and Kody signing up for liking everyone’s turkey. My FAVORITE part was Christine saying her reactions were “terrible today” then she says “I’m so sorry, I’m not married to him anymore it’s so freaking awesome” I busted up laughing!
Robyn is very in tune with everyone’s emotions. She uses her knowledge of the other person’s feelings to manipulate them, while at the same time dressing it up as support and friendship.
Grody is a monster, Snobbin is a lying Succubus and the Queen of manipulating Grody like a fiddle. Meri is tragic.
Christian is loving not having to deal with and pretend to care about Kody meltdowns anymore

I would love to see Robyn in any of the other wives marriages with Kody and “take one for the team”, “carry the torch”. She would be out of their so fast. She didn’t see it coming because her marriage wasn’t suffering because of Kody’s neglect.
When Robyn is trying to get meri to admit that « the tension was always there » … that is Robyn playing to the camera. She wants the public to perceive the break-up of the family as not being her fault. She wants out of the « show’s baddie » role (albeit not enough to really put in actual work)

Does anyone else think its weird that Robyn went and got Meri a coat instead of just inviting her inside? Also Robyn explaining to Meri the kind of person Kody is and why things are tough for him is just painful to sit through - like she does remember that Mehri is the OG right? Idk, Meri has driven me crazy in some episodes, but I do feel for her sometimes in these sidebars. Sometimes I feel like Robyn just keeps clawing open old wounds to keep her around. If she was a real friend I agree she would validate Meri’s feelings instead of always invalidating her. Christine cracked me up in this episode but she does look so much happier.
I thought it was kind of boring for a season premiere.
But I loved it when Christine was smiling at how angry people are. She's so happy to be out of that mess.
