Not really. SnapMap is their version of "modding," although it isn't modding in the sense that most think about it with PC gaming. It's an official tool, but what it lets you do is pretty restricted compared to true custom content that mods would provide.
+Lazy Game Reviews Fair enough; considering Bethesda was more involved with this game than in previous Id games, I find it surprising that they aren't going to have a more open toolset released for the PC version.
+DurradonXylles Just because Bethesda owns Id now, doesn't mean there will be a crossover in sensibilities. It could also be there's some reason (good or not), that we don't know of, that means no modding support. Perhaps the engine wasn't designed for modding in mind. Perhaps this Id doesn't believe in modding. It's not like Bethesda controlled every bit of development. Just because one company owns another, doesn't mean the parent is directly involved.
+OSW Review HD Every level has its own color hue, from red and yellow to green and blue. It looks surprisingly varied while never deviating from its general scifi or hellish assets.

Waitwaitwaitwait. Wait. Wait.... "No official modding support"? And after Bethesda practically spearheaded the "It's for other games too, not just TF2" Skyrim Workshop Awareness Kampaign?
While it's certainly possible that id software would need Bethesda's blessing in order to release modding tools, I doubt they would say no. I think id is just choosing not to release modding tools, possibly to prevent console owners from getting shafted from the exclusivity of mod support on the PC.
+James Mayberry Is id in the position to make that decision?

I think the way how they combined modern "standarts" and the essence of the old DOOM is just brilliant. I haven't even tried the multiplayer and I am not gonna try, but for all the young generation - run through the single campaign should be "MUST" option. It did not disappoint me at all and I can tell that I enjoyed all 4 runs through the game - all secrets, challenges etc. Great game.
It's almost been a year since I brought this game home. My 16 year old self was absolutely floored. I love this game so much, and it might be one of my favorite shooters of all time.
+Amayirot Akago Single player is awesome, but they run out of enemies real fast. Yet its okay and its not. Enemies have a lot of mobility so even a Mancubus can jump as high as you can. The last 7 hours of it are just "lock you in a room to fight literally every enemy we have."
I highly recommend the Noclip documentary about the making of Doom, especially the extended interview with Hugo Martin. Hugo's insight into their design decisions really gave me a better understanding of why they did certain things with the game. Regardless, I love the soundtrack, the graphics kick ass, and the single-player campaign is AWESOME. (I couldn't care less about multiplayer, especially in a Doom game.) It's so much better than I was expecting it to be.
Pretty much sums up my feelings. I tried some SnapMap stuff earlier today and it seemed a little basic to me. At least... what people have done so far with it. Most levels there feel like amateurish maps for Half Life 1. The lack of actual modding tools is definitely going to decrease the longevity of the game, unfortunately. But still... the single player is awesome and fun. Exactly what I need to fill the gap until Overwatch.
+Zontar82 Unless it's Fallout 4, GTA V, ARMA III, etc ;) +Scarfulhu And yeah, SnapMap leaves something to be desired, at least with what people have done so far. I really hope someone can work out how to make some proper mods for the game.
+Scarfulhu I think that Bethesda have realised that giving customers access to modding tools has cost them dlc money with fallout and skyrim in the past. I reckon that they'll never support true modding again. shame really.
Doom is my favourite game of the year so far. Its so visceral and pulse pounding, I love it. The single player anyway. The multiplayer, as Clint said, is what you'd expect from COD Ghosts developer.
Just so you guys know. I'm playing Doom on PS4 and it runs beautifully! The frame rate is always a solid 60fps, no screen tearing, it's never crashed on me, I haven't suffered any glitches, and overall it runs perfectly! The only minor thing I noticed is that some textures take a couple seconds to load, mostly when changing weapons, but it's something so slight and quick that it's barely noticeable, like I said, very minor issue that really finest matter when the game runs so damn awesome!
+Sac077 I have it on PS4 as well. The only problem I encountered was a hilarious glitch when I shot a possessed UAC employee with a charged pistol shot, it launched him into the air and he landed during a huge fight. So maybe that's not so much a problem as it is awesome.
I would honestly rather just have mods than snap map. I always love seeing what people do when they have access to all the tools the Devs have. If they had supported mods, Doom could have had a modding community rivaling that of Skyrim's, and it would have been awesome to see all the crazy shit the modders did with it. What a shame.
Where Puppers Go to Die Yes, imagine what great shit we could get with proper modding tools. But, if they were to release Id Tech 6, good luck finding a modern computer that would allow you to program in it without melting.
It's interesting seeing what creative stuff people come up with when using a limited creation tool (like with Super Mario Maker), but overall it's disappointing, and probably quite damaging to the game's longevity, that there isn't full modding support.
All I can say is I'd have liked to see a "covers of the original tracks" type situation like we had for ROTT 2013 for the music. Looking forward to picking up my copy now! Thanks man!
To me, the best thing for Doom 2016 is the snapmap mode, you can do so many things with it, you can build a level where you play as demons, or a Dark Souls level, or even a fully functional Tetris game.
I like how you touched on how the game was inspired by games inspired by the original. Its a real full circle moment and perhaps will encourage other companies to put more efforts into their sequels and reboots.
Finally! You actually read my thoughts. I played this game on PS4, and I still LOVE this game. I don't have a powerful PC to run this game, and I have NO experience with the Nintendo Switch version, but ONE major gripe I have with the gameplay is that it's very stop and go to some degree. You move into an arena, area locks down, you fight the demons, and you move into the next area. Rinse and repeat. Graphics are DELICIOUS. Combat is AMAZING. But I would agree that the gameplay should've been more akin to the classic Doom games in terms of demon encounters.
What I hated most of Doom 3 was the fact that on hard, the demons were bullet sponges. I hate the fact that in a Doom game, I was trying to manage my ammo. And that duck tape was a mod not in the retail game. Too much dark, not enough frantic shooting.
Guys, that's not exactly what I mean. Original Doom was run-n-gun fun. Maybe you run out of shot gun ammo or rockets, but Doom 3 was more frustrating in that regard than it was scary/intense/challenging. Doom 3 made me start looking around corners and made me choose between a gun and a flashlight. It became fairly predicable. I guess I really didn't enjoy Doom 3 as a sequel and greatly look forward to this new Doom reboot.
Doom 3 on consoles was arguably much better, you could have the flashlight on whilst using your gun, and the combat felt a little smoother and vastly more like a Doom game, not quite like the new one or the originals but still a very good game, with a menu theme that just screamed(literally) murderous metal joy.
I never Really cared for Wolfenstein and I can see your point still I think its worth LGR reviewing where or not he likes it. because its nice to see different Opinions
+Jeffery Morehouse heck no. The Shadow Warrior reboot is way better than the new Wolfenstein games and I'm kind of guy that prefers good story in games, so if I thought shadow warrior was better than Wolfenstein, that says something 😏 considering the new wolfenstein games get so much praise for the story somehow
You hit the nail on the head with this review. As I've been playing through this game, I've been thinking this is more of a sequel to Brutal Doom (which is awesome IMO.) From all of the other reviews I've seen, nobody else has mentioned that at all. Great job on this review!
Just curious. Is there a reason you didn't mention the classic Doom maps that you can find in single player? I noticed most reviews skip over those, and being able to play those 16 bit maps with the high definition Doomguy was a great experience. It honestly bumped the game from a 9 to a 10 for me. (The cute little doomguy collectibles alone make it an 8)
Even though my personal taste makes me disagree with you on a few points in this, I've got to say this is one of the most fair and balanced reviews of the game I've seen. Thanks for always being awesome and fair dude.
Hey Clint, bit of a random request, but is there anywhere we can still view your "coming soon" preview video of this game? Even after the game's release, that was the best video I've seen for a quick taste of the game's pacing and atmosphere.
I just bought and played through this game because of your review. Everything you said was spot on. (single player campaign, haven't tried anything else.) Thanks LGR
Regarding the story - there's a lot more to it... In the stupid codex entries. Though I'll admit, the stuff about Doomguy's past is probably the coolest shit I've seen for a video game protagonist in a while.
Ha, yeah that whole aspect of his character is pretty sweet. But it's so buried in the game that the only story anyone needs is "demons are here, kill them."
+Dirty Blue It also helps that when I played the original Doom I gave Zero shits about the story other than "Portals opened between Mars and its moons, Demons came out unexpectedly." So that in mind, the storyline for this game feels somewhat fresh and new for me, even if it is, in a way, yet another ripoff of Alien.
I'd say one of the areas where DOOM falls short from the original is the linear story. Whereas the older Doom had you wondering "What is this place?" "Why does it exist?" "What happened here?" without any concrete answers, the newer Doom just force feeds you story under the assumption that it doesn't matter. Great video as always!
This game feels like a good mix of some of the horror atmosphere of Doom 3, with the high movement speed/constant action of classic Doom. This is one game that definitely lives up to the hype. Nice review.
I guess I played DOOM 1 at a pretty slow pace. I don't really remember it as super fast, though I usually only play episode 1 if I play it again. To me, this is another reboot that remembers the original differently than I do. I guess I took a lot of the old games too seriously and thought of them as attempting to be gritty and realistic instead of an over the top comic book style. (XCom for instance)
Agreed. Doom, the original, is in large part an exploration game driven by mood lighting and atmospheric music. Yes, there was the thrash metal of E1M1, but there was a lot of moody ambient stuff in there, as well as jaunty orchestra and... jazz? Blues? Doom 2016 is based on Brutal Doom's interpretation of Doom, based on the old Doom comic. These three things made Doom's modern image wildly different than what Doom I and II actually were.
Wanna play it so so badly, but yeah $60 price tag on new games is what makes me wait 6 months, drooling over youtube videos of game play until I feel it's the right time to open the drawstrings on the ol coin purse.
Maybe it's just a weird quirk of how my brain works, but I honestly think I can credit the 'music' of the game for keeping me alive in the late game. I agree, it's a relentless barrage of chaotic noise that barely seems to count as music -- but from about the mid-point of the game onward, I barely seemed to notice it during the fights, only registering it when I watched back my recordings to take notes. I think what was happening was an effect similar to white noise: my parietal lobe was getting blasted by so much incoherent junk information from my auditory nerves that, after a while, it started tuning it out, only paying attention to any anomalies in the background noise that might signify something important; since it wasn't devoting as much cognitive real estate to _that,_ it could focus more on the information coming in from the optic nerves, processing the visual cues from the fight and improving the speed at which I could react. I dunno if anyone else had a similar experience, but that's the best explanation I could figure out for my own experience with _DOOM._
I did hope for Enemies already being placed in set locations here but it's actually a smart game design for Deum (Doom 2016), since the AI for the enemies are pretty robust, they have the ability to traverse the environments much like the Doomguy, and it would be pretty hard with having all the enemies placed already since that would consume a lot of CPU space. But still, i did enjoy this game and hopefully a sequel for this is on its way
Did you play the Shadow Warrior remake? What did you think of it? Sorry if you've already mentioned this somewhere, can't seem to find a video about it.
I think you're way off on the DOOM multiplayer. The MP is really fun and most of the modes are great. I also love that if one of your friends has the DLC then you can use it when in a party with him online. Me and some friends play DOOM MP and love it. Its simple in ways but more fun than lots of other games online.
And the devs specifically made the story not get in the way of the game play. They wanted gameplay and fun to come first. The story added in such a way that it didn't stop or break up the game play. Plus made so that the player could dive into the story if they wanted to on their own time.
i still really enjoy playing this and i cant wait for Doom: Eternal. i think they did a good job with the single player on this and i have come across a couple of snapmaps that are really good too. to this day, i havent done the multiplayer, but then again, im not really a multiplayer kind of person anyway, so its okay. just in case nobody else caught it, LGR says"jizz" in this vid. lol. awesome. tells me that hes not as much of the square that youtube vids seem to portray as. its okay, for the most part, gotta keep it clean for yt, especially now with the recent bs theyve been doing.
I remember playing the open beta for DOOM 2016 and having a pretty lousy experience, so it's a HUGE relief to see that the singleplayer is still badass, and I actually didn't know Snapmap was a thing until it was brought up here (and keep in mind that built-in level editors are an IMMENSE selling point for me.) Consider me interested.
i really wish brutal doom wasnt so popular. its not that you cant enjoy it its just, for every time i hear it i cringe. i cant deny the fact that its been hella influential on the new doom modding scene, but like, the guy's banned from every doom modding forum and is absolutely detested by virtually every old doomer, not for his product but for how much of a horrid piece of shit the creator is to the point where its detestable. from a guy whos been making mods since 2004 its just, it hurts whenever i hear it, and it hurts a lot of others as well.
+Chronoteeth What's the story with Sgt. Mark IV? I heard some stuff here and there but I never noticed anything and he does give credit to co-modders and played with fans recently so maybe I'm missing something?
+Goreface69 I enjoy the multiplayer, people who complain seem to want something on the quake level type of gameplay. I don't mind the modern additions to the MP.
"people who complain seem to want something on the quake level type of gameplay" On the contrary, wish it had less Quake elements, and the same weapons you get on SP, that was always the Doom MP, also you supose to have an strategy, again, it shows ID didnt make the MP cuz doom never was bout strategy, not on campaign nor in MP
I thought it was fun. Though I gave up FPS multiplayer shooters a long time ago (thanks CoD...) kinda burnt out on them. It was good multiplayer but it could've used a lot more polish. Demons would have been awesome if they worked out a better system for them instead of a short burst of OP-ness, maybe allow one demon per team at all times? Or one demon vs everyone (even teammates)? It felt very tacked in. Also it would've been way more fun if they had two narrator/announcers: VEGA for human players, Demon Guy/Quake Guy for demon players. Like I said, the multiplayer was lots of fun, adding in another 10 hours on my DOOM playthrough. But it could've used a lot more polishing and refining.
My first experience of Doom title was Doom 3, at that time i thought it was about dinosaur and such. But when I saw that screenshot from bathroom with Pinky I know that something is wrong here... The most scary game ever! I know only few people who played this game and finished it. Others said it was making them go insane. Literary. Too much. Too scary. Too psycho. And that's what like about it!!! The recent one? Well it looks more like Quake or Unreal Tournament... Which is good but... You know. Not Doom at all.

+Lazy Game Reviews Fair enough; considering Bethesda was more involved with this game than in previous Id games, I find it surprising that they aren't going to have a more open toolset released for the PC version.
+DurradonXylles i can't believe there doing that WHY?!?! JUST WHY!?!? Bethesda
+DurradonXylles To be fair, OG Doom didn't have official modding tools either, it was all community created in the beginning.
thanks for the review Clint! How much of the game in a hazy red, darkened room?
+OSW Review HD Every level has its own color hue, from red and yellow to green and blue. It looks surprisingly varied while never deviating from its general scifi or hellish assets.
*****
Well he has Patreon. I remember Jim Sterling saying he didn't monetize his stuff but there sure were ads. He might not monetize, but TH-cam does.
*****
Nah he's more of a Patreon-er.
Waitwaitwaitwait. Wait. Wait.... "No official modding support"? And after Bethesda practically spearheaded the "It's for other games too, not just TF2" Skyrim Workshop Awareness Kampaign?
Yep. An odd move by them here.
While it's certainly possible that id software would need Bethesda's blessing in order to release modding tools, I doubt they would say no. I think id is just choosing not to release modding tools, possibly to prevent console owners from getting shafted from the exclusivity of mod support on the PC.
***** I point again to Skyrim. Bethesda wanted mod support for consoles.
+predcon1 Which is why I'm assuming id made the choice not to release mod tools.
Great game.
Most satisfying single player I've played in a while, seriously fantastic
It's almost been a year since I brought this game home. My 16 year old self was absolutely floored. I love this game so much, and it might be one of my favorite shooters of all time.
Very happy to hear the singleplayer at least is worthwhile :) Gonna wait for this to go on sale sometime.
It really is a great game. At least the single player. I have already put 5 hours in and I have thoroughly enjoyed every second of it
+Amayirot Akago Single player is awesome, but they run out of enemies real fast. Yet its okay and its not. Enemies have a lot of mobility so even a Mancubus can jump as high as you can. The last 7 hours of it are just "lock you in a room to fight literally every enemy we have."
*****
Good for you. I thought the level design for the arena sections was very multiplayer map with no dead ends.
+leon bushnell Shut asshat.
+leon bushnell Shut up asshat.
Dude! that's a Commander Keen helmet at 6:02! Love the Easter eggs they sneak in here, I wonder what others are in store.
This game is SOOO GOOD!!! I am having a blast playing it. Even the multiplayer, which most people are complaining about, is a blast to me.
+Zontar82 Unless it's Fallout 4, GTA V, ARMA III, etc ;)
+Scarfulhu And yeah, SnapMap leaves something to be desired, at least with what people have done so far. I really hope someone can work out how to make some proper mods for the game.
+Scarfulhu modding tools can be released post release
Scarfulhu and LGR Collab confirmed? :D
+Scarfulhu I think that Bethesda have realised that giving customers access to modding tools has cost them dlc money with fallout and skyrim in the past. I reckon that they'll never support true modding again. shame really.
do agree, single player is all I care about, so happy happy!
Doom is my favourite game of the year so far. Its so visceral and pulse pounding, I love it. The single player anyway. The multiplayer, as Clint said, is what you'd expect from COD Ghosts developer.
*switches to 720p60fps* Oh boy, this wasn't a good time to drink that wiskey cola on an empty stomach.
"Ahhh! I'm so awesome! Look'it the size of my NUTS!"
Quote of the day! :D
Awesome review. Love your channel man!
Hi I am from the future we play this game on a handheld now called the steam deck
That frame-rate capture cured my cancer.
That time when developers published UnrealEd with their games instead of some kid tool... Aw those were the days...
i love this review the wording and the presentation is very doom like, makes me want to play the game again
+Where Doggos Go to Die Snap Map is awesome and awful at the same time. Super easy to use, but super limiting even with dozens of prefabs.
Thanks man!
+RetroSwim I bet you there will be a mod that covers that.
"GAAAAHHHHH IM SO AWESOME, LOOK AT THE SIZE OF MY NUTS."
- LGR, 2016
"rubbing your nads all over a monster and hoping for the best" had me in stitches!
To me, the best thing for Doom 2016 is the snapmap mode, you can do so many things with it, you can build a level where you play as demons, or a Dark Souls level, or even a fully functional Tetris game.
The best thing about Doom 2016 is the snapmap mode because you can build a Dark Souls level or play Tetris? Am I missing something here?
Keep up the good work! You're one of the few reviews I actually trust.
Thanks, I'll do my best!
*pointless drivel from character*
**Massive enraged camera shake**
That's why I watch you, LGR, you just appeal to my child-like senses of humor
I like how you touched on how the game was inspired by games inspired by the original. Its a real full circle moment and perhaps will encourage other companies to put more efforts into their sequels and reboots.
my only complaint is how hard is it to make a co op campaign mode like the original halo.
really Halo? -_-
+YasinAdor1999 dude the original Halo was great
***** actually I would say CoD and the Medal of Honour franchises set the FPS genre downhill but ik Halo helped lol but t was still a great game
Bethesda has no experience in making multiplayer games
+Garrett Holland ESO? Lol
+Devenn Eng what do you mean? I always play on Ultra Violence and have lots of bullets for every gun.
the only thing I managed was the cell ammo.
Excellent review! You nailed it!! The single player campaign in this brings back the classic style fast-paced combat that we have all waited for!
ITS FINALLY UP!!!!
+kellygymnastt Thats what she said!.... Too late?
+LastSider hahahahhahhahah
+LastSider Stop trying to give kelly a "hard time" and "poking fun" in her comment.
ITS ERECT
I was waiting for LGR's take on this. I'll consider this the definitive review of Doom (2016). Keep up the good work!
So when are you going to do Shadow Warrior 2013 if ever I think its a great Reboot of the Series
I thought that game was a bit lackluster when compared to Wolfenstein.
I never Really cared for Wolfenstein and I can see your point still I think its worth LGR reviewing where or not he likes it. because its nice to see different Opinions
+Jeffery Morehouse The originals or the newer entries?
+Jeffery Morehouse heck no. The Shadow Warrior reboot is way better than the new Wolfenstein games and I'm kind of guy that prefers good story in games, so if I thought shadow warrior was better than Wolfenstein, that says something 😏 considering the new wolfenstein games get so much praise for the story somehow
You hit the nail on the head with this review. As I've been playing through this game, I've been thinking this is more of a sequel to Brutal Doom (which is awesome IMO.)
From all of the other reviews I've seen, nobody else has mentioned that at all.
(The cute little doomguy collectibles alone make it an 8)
+Clyde Shanley I would also like to know! D:
Such an in depth review, I really learned a lot I love your videos man . Great commentary very entertaining and informative
Thank you!
For the first time in a while... I WANT THIS GAME :D
it's been two years; have you played it? it's amazing!
Even after the game's release, that was the best video I've seen for a quick taste of the game's pacing and atmosphere.
th-cam.com/video/7XXKbgFrfDU/w-d-xo.html
Ah, unlisted now. Thanks!
Excellent video capture quality on this video really shows off the game's graphics. I'm putting this one on my Wishlist.
Did the mini gun just split into 3 mini guns?? crap i need this game now
Hell yeah it does. The mobile turret upgrade, haha.
+Lazy Game Reviews Thanks for this review, man. Been a fan since discovering your SIMs videos! :D
Really, REALLY excellent review! Your writing is amazing! Thank you! :)
I appreciate it!
"AGH! I'M SO AWESOME, LOOK AT THE SIZE OF MY *NUTS!!!*" - LGR 2016
Oh, my God. Those high quality reviews. 10/10
Crow's Bridge it never was that fast back in the day... maybe if you play it now on a modern beast you get 100+FPS to make things super fluid
Great review! Keep up the awesome content
Wanna play it so so badly, but yeah $60 price tag on new games is what makes me wait 6 months, drooling over youtube videos of game play until I feel it's the right time to open the drawstrings on the ol coin purse.
+Robert Farley got mine from cdkeys.com for $38
Hope you get it though man, it looks good!
+Robert Farley Get it from cdkeys.com or G2A.
you're my favorite reviewer nowadays. god, it's uncanny how our tastes match.
I think it's time. The world is ready for a remake of Descent. Of course, the biggest hurdle is getting the intellectual property all in one place...
th-cam.com/video/5PmZSaJFcnY/w-d-xo.html
+Ashes1032 Omg yes! I loved Descent back in the day!
Awesome review mate! Been loving this game since it launched! The pace of combat is addicting as hell! Keep up the good work!
Keen? KEEN? 6:00 KEEEEEEEEEN!
I wasn't ready for the graphics especially in 4k. Just finished Gears 4 and thought that was as good as it gets visually. ..but this. ..holy crap!
Now i know what to look forward to when i finally get a computer which can run Doom in 4k at 100+ fps
9:27 that music sounds like they had someone play the level and recorded their brainwaves
Do you know Pistol has a Charge shot? I mean it'll kill Imps in one shot to the head. just curious LGR
Yes, but I still find it highly disappointing to use compared to every other gun. Even when fully upgraded!
Fair Enough in the Original Doom it still was Useful for the whole game
This is on sale on steam right now for just a couple of dollars for a Halloween sale and you can get all the old dooms. I'm gonna buy it!
did he say "jizzes" at 2:30?
+HIKAJO Yep
Great review. Glad to hear that this Doom is fast paced.
But still, i did enjoy this game and hopefully a sequel for this is on its way
A sequel is on its way :-)
Did you play the Shadow Warrior remake? What did you think of it? Sorry if you've already mentioned this somewhere, can't seem to find a video about it.
Talked about it here
th-cam.com/video/dFZCPQkpbzk/w-d-xo.html
I think you're way off on the DOOM multiplayer. The MP is really fun and most of the modes are great. I also love that if one of your friends has the DLC then you can use it when in a party with him online. Me and some friends play DOOM MP and love it. Its simple in ways but more fun than lots of other games online.
Been looking forward to this for half a week :)
To be fair if you read the lore pieces in doom 2016 Doomguy's backstory is actually very interesting and definitely helps the story
And the devs specifically made the story not get in the way of the game play. They wanted gameplay and fun to come first. The story added in such a way that it didn't stop or break up the game play. Plus made so that the player could dive into the story if they wanted to on their own time.
I was actually really surprised, that the story was so good. I can hear we disagree, but I really like the depth you uncover on the way.
4:37 Hmm, there's a faint tang of Metroid Prime to this. No bad thing.
+TheTurnipKing Better a faint tang than a taint fang.
+Lauri3000 Words to live by
I thought the exact same thing
the visor
+Dexter Miguel The map, the visor HUD.
Yeah someone at Bethesda had to be a fan.
There are a few youtubers I upvote automatically, before I even watch their content. One is LGR.
DOOMTASTIC!
Me hace feliz de una manera extraña que te haya gustado este DOOM. No es perfecto, claramente, pero creo que un fanático como tu lo merecía.
So happy they won Action Game of the Year and Best Soundtrack @ 2016VGAs :)
Great review thanks for the upload.
I'm a huge doom fan and I finally got to play this one when it came out on switch, awesome port of an amazing game :)
As a PC player of the game I'm shocked how well they ported the game to the Switch, seriously impressive optimization
Finally a TRUE review, my respects for you.
***** Go back to Call of Duty.
Doesn't look as " Metal" as the original Doom with Pentagrams and Blood Portals
+HDJ There are pentagrams though.
They dont look like Legit demons from a death metal album
Satanism =/= Metal
Looks more Sci/Fi then Hellish
Don't play it.
9:09 That has to be my favourite Clint quote right there
i still really enjoy playing this and i cant wait for Doom: Eternal. i think they did a good job with the single player on this and i have come across a couple of snapmaps that are really good too. to this day, i havent done the multiplayer, but then again, im not really a multiplayer kind of person anyway, so its okay.
just in case nobody else caught it, LGR says"jizz" in this vid. lol. awesome. tells me that hes not as much of the square that youtube vids seem to portray as. its okay, for the most part, gotta keep it clean for yt, especially now with the recent bs theyve been doing.
I remember playing the open beta for DOOM 2016 and having a pretty lousy experience, so it's a HUGE relief to see that the singleplayer is still badass, and I actually didn't know Snapmap was a thing until it was brought up here (and keep in mind that built-in level editors are an IMMENSE selling point for me.)
Consider me interested.
i really wish brutal doom wasnt so popular. its not that you cant enjoy it its just, for every time i hear it i cringe. i cant deny the fact that its been hella influential on the new doom modding scene, but like, the guy's banned from every doom modding forum and is absolutely detested by virtually every old doomer, not for his product but for how much of a horrid piece of shit the creator is to the point where its detestable.
from a guy whos been making mods since 2004 its just, it hurts whenever i hear it, and it hurts a lot of others as well.
+Chronoteeth What's the story with Sgt. Mark IV? I heard some stuff here and there but I never noticed anything and he does give credit to co-modders and played with fans recently so maybe I'm missing something?
Do you suffer splash damage when you use the bazooka close to you?
Am I the only one who likes the MP though? It's fun! No?
I like it because I play too many modern shooters
+Goreface69 probably, i hated it, probably is a "good" mp industry wise, but is not a Doom MP
I smiled when i discovered that Commander Keen reference in the game (6:01)
My first experience of Doom title was Doom 3, at that time i thought it was about dinosaur and such. But when I saw that screenshot from bathroom with Pinky I know that something is wrong here...
The most scary game ever! I know only few people who played this game and finished it.
Others said it was making them go insane. Literary. Too much. Too scary. Too psycho.
And that's what like about it!!!
The recent one? Well it looks more like Quake or Unreal Tournament... Which is good but... You know. Not Doom at all.
my "Most scary Game ever" is probably Alien Isolation, though I never played Doom 3 in it's prime
@@UNSCPILOT Condemned.
Dude your review is epic, just sold me on Doom too.
LGR you should check out the mod Doom 4 Doom (D4D)....its recreates the weapons in Doom 4 as awesome 2d sprites for Doom 1 and Doom 2....the enemies are reskined and weapons are upgradable like in Doom 4....www.moddb.com/mods/d4d-doom4-for-doom i play this more than Doom 4 itself
I've played it! Really cool mod indeed.
I gotta ask how do you have that old cathode terminal look to your intro? is that just a font option for the software you use to edit your video, I've been dying to find a old retro cathode green theme for my PC
You young sir are a Steely Eyed Doom Player! Well done!
