    A few years ago, a bad tornado went right though Amish country here. Wiped out a ton of houses and barns. A few months later, you literally couldn’t tell. It’s INSANE how quick and how well they can build things!

    One thing that was worth the money is we got the stainless steel package. Aluminum ceiling and all stainless steel bolts, nuts, screws, nails. That membrane you put under the roof is worth every penny too. Our roof doesn't rust at all compared to our older site

    We got 26 ton bins and if we get questionable feed it can be a trainwreck of a situation. But the truckers love being able to dump a whole semi in 1 bin. We put the sure-flo system in but I don't know how good it works. I do wish we put the scale system on the feed bins. It would be A LOT easier to monitor the usage. We have 2400 pigs eating out of 1 bin so it can be difficult to monitor the bigger they get

      BridgeRid. We have them on all our sites. (Not Sawyer’s yet) lifesavers. They don’t work with scales though.

    8:00 I totally understand you. We only have one farm but for some truck drivers it's really hard. If they drive with gps and a road is closed they ring every 10 min for new update

  • @nikimorgan6492
    @nikimorgan6492 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't miss the "thin down" at all. We would have to load 10 trucks/day. But it's not much better now when we dump the site at market weight. Our one site a couple weeks ago had 21 loads in 2 days!!! That's a lot of work

    • @torktalks5573
      @torktalks5573 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Woah, I would be gassed. I don’t know which is worse? The slow grind of multiple cuts or the marathon dumps? Guess that’s why we get paid the big bucks? Right? 😂😂😂

    One thing I don't like about our newest site is we went with the 350 pipe for the feed system. I want to take it out and put the 300 pipe in.

    • @torktalks5573
      @torktalks5573 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I was selling barns, we started building Cargill 70’ wide barns, they went with the “pellet” auger. 350 pipe with 300 auger in it. Took like 2 hours to fill if the feeders were empty. Had to set the timers for every 4 hours just so the max runs didn’t time out every day. That convinced me to stay with 300.

    • @nikimorgan6492
      @nikimorgan6492 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@torktalks5573 that's EXACTLY what they did and I absolutely hate it. Like you said it takes forever to fill when everything is empty and it's caused problems with those motors. It's a lot of work dragging feed 225 ft. Even with a 1 1/2 hp motor

      I think the sheets are 33’? The reasons they do the two sheet roof is that usually it’s the bottom of the room that will need replaced and you can just do half. The other is ease of installation on rough, uneven job sites. Really easy to kink those long sheets.
