Grandma wakes me up at around 3:30 to boil water on the stove for her "visitors" She says that she has to do it, otherwise they'd get mad at her. She literally tells me that she can't sleep because they keep bothering her. Honestly, it's terrifying.

My grandpa had dementia and he would describe it as “being lost in his own home” and it was sad to see a man who could hold the world in the palm of his hand suffer with a disease so frightening.

I think the first "walk of dementia" was the best made.
Also I think that people with dementia are more ... you know, I think she would have said: "of COURSE I know who that is, I am not stupid!" when her daughter asked her in the beginning.
At least the people with dementia I know and knew, spoke most of the time more agressivly, like: "how can you dare to think I dont know everything?" Which of course is very understandable but also is very tiring since you yourself know that she is quite wrong.

Yes they get defensive and angry really easy. They think you are a big bully and abusing them. My mom threatened to call the cops today because we took away her smokes, because she would not eat. smokes have become an obsession, she actually panics if she can't see one. We take all that from her at night and for a few weeks she started sleep walking for smokes and we had to pick her up and take her back to bed while being hit and kicked and slapped.

Hang on... You mean, this isn't normal? I have troubles with short term memory in particular and losing track of fairly prominent items on a daily basis. I'm only 23, but I've been having sensory and memory issue for almost a decade now. I thought it was just teenage hormones screwing with me, but I'm comfortably into adulthood now. What could it be?

No, I think you're alright. It's information overload, a lot of people won't be able to remember all those details first time we heard them. The simulation is focusing on the fact that the mother knew those things beforehand, but still forgot them the minute after she was reminded. Don't worry.

Jeez I remember when I was about 13 on one of our visits, my mum left me with grandmother for a few minutes while she ran some errands. My grandmother then put on the kettle, and made us both tea...except the tea had no tea or hot water. Just milk with sugar in a mug. I didn't really know what to do, but feign normality in order not to upset her, like I usually did.

Who would even ask their mother to make three separate tea orders, with different milk and sugar quantities, then not even suggest a pen and paper? Throw in some random other stuff.
"Do your own milk and sugar, you ingrates!"
Plus, she was still trying to make the tea after the call, not randomly looking at a cup and cursing the Nazis.
