Total agreed. My 1st short was too big for my skills, and now it's like a giant hot potato in my head. Now I'm preparing 2 really simple shorts of 4 min with 2 very different subjects and no dialogue. It feels way better to play small and I'm much better prepared from what I learned the hard way last year.
So true. It's always good to gradually increase, instead of starting right out in a big production. Best way is to start out is with a 5 minute short, then keep increasing it to 10, 15, 30, etc, till you know that you are ready and have enough experience to make a feature length film. Ps. I need to write a 90 pager first... I have a few more shorts left to write and do.. then I need a solid budget plan if I'm going to pay my cast and crew. either or,.. its all in due time.
He's right. You have to know going in that you're the guy for the job, and the guy to take charge when no one else knows what to do. Anything less, and you're going to fail.
