    It’s interesting to see how fashion itself has developed. I feel like 2010s were a time for minimalism and sameness, like, there wasn’t as much of an appreciation for aesthetic diversity, everything was just sort of the same. Nowadays, I feel like aesthetic diversity is much more appreciated and encouraged.

    • @penelopepegg7834

      Honestly, I think it's because internet communities are much more normalised now than before. So we have more inspo, but also since we are all looking at it and more people are taking part it's like you won't feel as much like an odd one out, plus I think when it comes to fast fashion, stores know how to stock better. When I was growing up and becoming more curious about my style, most stuff would be for adults (yk, like mature), now you walk in and there's a handful of stuff you see booming among fashion youtubers or tiktokers. There's also more awareness on second hand shopping, and I think more second hand stores are trying to curate a range that appeal to young people's trends. It's great in a lot of ways :) the terminology/style gatekeeping hasn't left tho, and ofc we should be careful about fast fashion.

    • @luciacuevas611
      @luciacuevas611 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@penelopepegg7834 yes, and microtrends are also a thing to look out for. It's almost like the two extremes are there, the invisibility of trends due to an encouragement of aesthetic diversity, and at the same time, a fast-paced exchange of microtrends that explode in impulsive purchases that later go to waste.

      @@Ana-pj1gf well, Steal the Spotlight has a video on it herself, that's actually how I found her channel a few years ago! Kaiti Yoo, Amy Serrano and Gigi MW are other channels that I follow and who have recently made videos on this. They also have pretty different styles from each other so that makes it even more fun. I think the one amazing thing about your style evolution is that no matter what age, you always worked with colors similar to one another and textures that work really well with one another! Really needed this reminder that it's normal for one's style to change and evolve across time. 💜 The one thing that's consistent for me is the love of anything shiny and fairy-like haha, I think my childhood love of ballet stuck with me in fashion 😅

    10:57 I did the same around 2015, 2016 and 2017 (my 1st and 2nd year of high school), and I thought I was stylish lol, thankfully I got into kpop in 2017 and discovered korean street style, kpop stage outfits, that's how I discovered chunky sneakers and wide jeans before such items became available in stores in Slovenia, kpop also helped me discover the world of accessories. I didn't immediately learn how to properly style myself, so I would say my style in the 3rd and 4th year of high school was not fully developed yet, not enough layering and accessorizing, but I think I got the hand of it since I started uni, especially in the last year or so (even tho I haven't really got many opportunities to go outside and show off my outfits). I also think that discovering your channel around 2019 contributed a lot to the development of my style, I took inspiration from your accessorizing.
